Good memories…we had a little Vivacity sailboat with twin keels. They are common in England where the extreme tide changes leave boats beached for a portion of each day. Our little boat sailed beautifully, and it was so convenient to pull into a lake cove for a picnic lunch!
      Thank you, as always, Lucille!

From here til November I do yard work in 10 minute spurts: get dressed to protect from poison ivy, go out and work until I’m drenched in sweat, come back in, strip off the wet clothes and stand in front of a fan blowing air conditioned air until I’m cooled down. Drink liquid. Repeat.

Morning everyone! Cloudy and looking like more rain this morning. 70 degrees so far. We got quite a lot of rain yesterday. Heat and sun are coming in the next few days.

Went out early while it was in the 70’s, pulled weeds on the shady side of the house. By the time I came back in it was 90*. Supposed to rain in 60% of the area today. Around here in the hot weather we get pop-up showers almost daily, called that because they appear, rain out in mostly one spot, then disappear.

Biden administration program sending horses to slaughter

    • This has been going on for YEARS, and in my opinion it is entirely political, aka follow the money, as stated in this interview. There are better ways of handling this situation. It is inhumane for the WILD horses to be warehoused, and I doubt the non-USA slaughterhouses kill them humanely either. There are actually groups that now say at the rate the BLM is disposing of the wild horses, they will become endangered. If I remember correctly, it is federal law the wild horses remain on federal land, for whatever that’s worth these days.
Some “bad actors” are now jumping on the issue to siphon off donations to their own pet projects, not really to help the horses. Be careful & do research before donating.

I wrote my House Representative, Russ Fulcher, and asked him to look into this and try to get something going to stop the abuse. He’s a good man and I know he’ll check it out, especially since he’s one of the leaders for fiscal responsibility in Congress. He entered the House in 2019.

Our other Rep is a GOPe who goes along to get along…Mike Simpson, who has been in the House since 1999. Over 60% of Idaho land is owned federally. So he’s probably got a large percentage of industries which are on federal land that want the horses removed. I’ll write him, too, though I doubt he’s interested in rocking the boat.

My son is overseas in the Navy, and they are pushing really hard to get him to take the vaccine. He has already had COVID and says he doesn’t care if they kick him out because he will not voluntarily take it.

I don’t see why he needs to if he has natural immunity.

They are pushing that you need the vaccine even if you have had COVID. They have downplayed the fact that if you have had it you already have the antibodies. Also, there is some concern that if you have the antibodies and get the vaccine, it can really be bad but they are ignoring that. You would think that you could get tested for the antibodies and then skip the vaccine, but they are ignoring that, too.

Good for him. As a freeborn American, he’s standing up for his right to live life as he sees fit. If they start threatening him with an other-than-honorable discharge, it’ll be time to call in the lawyers.

I don’t think anyone should be forced to be vaccinated. However, I think it is a mistake to demonize vaccination for everyone. Each person has individual risks based upon their circumstances, and should decide whether or not to be vaccinated based upon their needs, their doctor’s advice, and their own research.

I have said before that I was vaccinated, and I believe it was the best decision for me.

I just learned that an old friend, my age and in good health otherwise, died from Covid in January. He was living in Florida. His girlfriend went home to visit her family, contracted Covid and gave it to him before she had symptoms.

I was chatting with someone on Twitter yesterday. He said he would not get the jab, and I said that I had. He acknowledged my decision, then proceeded to tell me that he is 69 years old and doesn’t have any pre-existing conditions as far as he knows, but that he hasn’t seen a doctor in years.

I told him that I thought I was pretty healthy – until I had a heart attack and found out that I wasn’t.
