Site was down for about 2-1/2 hours – came back up at about 10:00 am. I don’t know what the cause was.

Mornin All. Still in Ormond Beach with the sun hazy but shining. Supposedly we are going to get another t-storm but the one we were supposed to get yesterday never happened. 😦 It is HOT. As I am typing, the haze is disappearing. Another hot one, I guess. Hope your weather is great.

Good morning, aus! We’re supposed to hit 80 degrees today. Not HOT hot, but a strange one-day warming since tomorrow it’ll be back in the 50s. Weird!
Drink something cool and sit in the shade, munching on a nice repast…

Very, very good. Dinesh is a real intellectual – a great patriot to have on our side.
Thanks Lucille!

YW, weather! Dinesh has a first-class mind. A good man and writer.
One small item I disagree with him on in this vid, though, is his opinion that President Trump got too personal in his criticism of his opponents or those who dissed him…such as calling Rubio “Little Marco”…and thus lost Republican support. Marco, if you remember, insulted candidate Trump during one of the debates bringing up the stupid comparison of hand size and male anatomy.
IMO, many of us voted for and truly liked President Trump because he said out loud what we were thinking. A person insults him and he insults them right back. Our President may have lost the elite but he didn’t lose the average American. Elite Republicans who turned against him because they SAY getting personal was deeply offensive to them are, again IMO, giving themselves public cover because they want to stay elite. Their real motivation for dissing and being against our President is they don’t like his policies of Make America Great and America First.

Good afternoon Stellar friends. Been absent for a few days. Spent Tuesday driving to Anchorage and back (4 hours each way) for an ophthalmology appointment. Cataract surgery is in my very near future–later this month. Anyone here been through that already? Poking knives and needles in the eyeballs gives me the heebie-jeebies! But nothing is worse than not being able to read the printed page, so I’m all in.
Couple of good hits from Kurt Schlichter this week:

https://townhall.com/columnists/kurtschlichter/2021/05/03/conservatives-need-to-get-it-on-n2588836
I just finished the 5th book in Schlichter’s dystopian novel series about America splitting into two, the red states US of A and the blue states People’s Republic of North America. He started writing the series in 2016 and was amazingly prescient right from the start. Interestingly, I can read much better on the Kindle device than I can paper-and-ink. Anyway, I enjoyed the series and will probably read book 6 when it comes out next month.
Hope you are having fun at the beach, USmom! And eating lots of seafood and having beverages with tiny umbrellas in them. I’m waiting for the snow to finish melting in our yard. Little by little we’re getting there.

Hi Tundra! I haven’t had cataract surgery, but will soon, I’m sure. WeeWeed has had it and has nothing but good things to say.

Had it last fall; procedure easy and fast although all the eyedrops and precautions – one month per eye – got old. Can’t say enough about how wonderful it is to not have to track down my glasses constantly. I got the Symfony and only need glasses when sitting in front of the TV (16 feet) watching a movie with subtitles. I had hoped they would go further in correcting my astigmatism; they do blur lights at night but don’t do much night driving anyway and could do it safely if needed. One eye is now 20/20; they’re prefect during the day and typing on my tablet but do challange sometimes at my work computer. Totally worth it and wouldn’t change a thing. Fantastic doctor, by the way.

Worry not, Ms. Tundra! They do it all with lasers now and you have options on the lenses. There are lenses where you won’t need reading glasses but they’re twice as high as Medicare will pay and I iz a tightwad. And, having worn glasses my entire life, it’s no hardship for me. You can even wear those cheap “readers” sold in the drugstore (but for me, they’re just not … right.) Both eyes are 20/20 distance – you’ll be amazed when you go outside. The procedure does not hurt – you’ll go back home (and be amazed that you can read road signs on the way!) and do drops for a week, no big deal. The BAD part is when you’re in between eyes…one eye sees, one eye don’t, makes ya crazy.
No needles involved whatsoever with me – all eye drops for the eyes but they do give you an iv of some sort to make you calm and dozy. I was awake for both eyes and you’re so blind (or dilated, whatever) that you can’t see anything headed for you. Rejoice! You’ll be chomping at the bit to get the other one done.

Exactly! And ya’s can find yer own glasses afterward!

Got it done right after I turned 65 and Medicare kicked in. Did not get the expensive ones because they could not fix my astigmatism and I’d need eyeglasses anyway. No pain, plenty of injected painkillers or anti-anxiety meds given. And yes, you can suddenly see SOOO much better. And colors are brighter. I’ve been nearsighted since I was 12 and wearing thick eyeglasses, and it was funny to take the one lens out and wear the eyeglasses for two weeks until the second eye was done. My only real problem now is I take my glasses off and I can see so well I walk off and leave them somewhere!
The eye drops regimen is crazy, so I wrote it down on a paper to keep track of what to do when. And be sure to SHAKE the bottles thoroughly every time before use. I didn’t do it enough on one of the meds and had to continue for an extra week. Oh, and pick a doctor who has done thousands of the procedures. Mine does them 2 days a week, one every half hour for 6 hours a day.
