Did Something Happen In Boulder?

I’m not as old as Grandpa Badfinger, nor as manifestly senile, but I still have only the vaguest notion that something bad happened last week in Colorado, and I can’t quite put my trigger finger on exactly what it was. It’s just a hazy recollection of how whatever went down was pretty much the fault of you and me, though the last time I was in the Centennial State I was passing through the Denver airport, which makes whatever happened being my fault seem implausible, but whatever. Facts and stuff are bourgeois conceits. The point is that I went looking through the media, because whatever it was that went down was a super-big deal for a while, and then – nothing. Nada. Zip.

I figure he must be laughing. He sent the kid to us! Our Conner is a fighter, from the moment he was born with two holes in his heart, he’s had a struggle. He has the grit and spirit to make it, but sometimes he mows all of us down!

Mornin’ All. Foggy, humid, and cool here this morning. It feels cool even though it is 71*. Sometimes that feels really warm. I made a mistake when I got in the Internet this morning. I clicked on something about Trump buying a private island and, oh, the horror. I didn’t even listen to it all. Essentially, the guy said we are all going to hell in a hand basket……we are all doomed if we don’t buy into whatever it is he was selling, I guess. Anyway, I hope I won’t do that again. I just had to get my head on back on straight. I already know where I am going when I leave here. Hope the rest of you have a really nice day.

Good morning, aus! Clicking on many of these obscure websites or “offers” in the ads can bring some really irritating items to our attention. It’s definitely a “buyer beware” world out there.
Oy, yesterday I was looking for a good Easter meditation to send with my emailed cards to family and friends. I came upon a potentially usable article but thought I’d better check who the writer was and what the website espoused. Oh my, it was one of those which claims the King James Version of the Bible is the only English translation of which God approves. Sigh! Though they may be good people, right there that told me their discernment isn’t first-rate and their rigidity truly off-putting.

Good morning guys! Monday started with a bang! I need all cylinders working LOL! It seems I’ve become a caretaker for a neighbor along with my other caretaker responsibilities. I mean, how can you not help someone that has no other means to depend upon??? Life is tough for a lot of people right now! I just hope that somehow, someway I can make a difference for someone else! It’s what I would hope for myself should the occasion arise! Destitution is a hard road to travel!
Praying for each of you…that the Lord’s Blessing would be with you today! 🙏

Good afternoon, Menagerie! Overnight I was thinking about Conner’s day at Mass yesterday and wondering how he can have a more rewarding experience when attending.
I can’t remember his age, but perhaps an appointment could be made with one of the priests for Conner and you to have a tour of the church interior to help him be familiar with the building. He could be shown the baptismal with an age-appropriate explanation of what it’s for. And if he’s been baptized himself and there are photos of his baptism, maybe he could have a framed copy for his room to place with whatever items he may have been given at Mass yesterday such as the palm piece. The priest could also show him whatever statuary is set about which you could remind him to look at the next time he attends Mass with you. Maybe the priest could also say a prayer for him at the end of the tour.
Just some thoughts which might be of use to help him feel included and especially feel that God loves him.

Thank you Lucille. He does better during Advent, because he likes seeing the Nativity scene, and he does love his tours of the sanctuary. The year with no masses set him back. Going to Mass in a huge basilica with a loud choir and organ, as well as all the smells and bells is hard for autistic children. I’m thinking of trying to bring him to Mass at the tiny little parish we are usually attending and see how he does.

Thank you, Menagerie! It is my last year to be a sixtysomething; next year I’ll be an official Old Fart like my DH. No, it is definitely not sunny and beautiful here today. Started snowing yesterday afternoon and kept up most of the night, adding another inch or so to the multiple feet on the ground. *sigh* I’ve had more than enough white stuff for one winter! Today it is not snowing, but we’re socked in with clouds. On the bright side, it’s not very cold. Temps have been stuck in the low 30s for a couple of weeks. For the 10 years I was out in Bethel, I had a handful of birthdays at 20 below! The sunlight is increasing by about 5 minutes/day, which is wonderful. We’re gettin’ there!

Thanks Stella and everyone for your good wishes! Greatly appreciated! I awoke this morning to very good news. An excellent candidate today announced that she will primary Lisa Murkowski for the Senate next year! She is the daughter of friends of ours and is a very bright, articulate, energetic woman. Her name is Kelly Tshibaca and her website is Kelly for Alaska ( https://www.kellyforak.com/home ). She is a firebrand in the mold of MTG and other young conservatives. I am hoping Kelly gets a lot of donations from conservatives in the lower 48 who are committed to the importance of replacing Lisa. It won’t be easy. The Murkowskis are a dynasty here in Alaska. Lisa has a war chest of a million dollars and huge name recognition after 20 years in the Senate. It is unclear who else might step up to challenge her. Word on the street is that Sarah Palin will not do it (the son of a friend’s hairdresser is married to Sarah’s second daughter and he says Sarah has been clear with the family that it ain’t gonna happen). Some have hoped that Sean Parnell will jump in; he was Sarah’s Lt. Governor who became Governor when she stepped down. He has some name recognition in the state, but I have no idea if he has the stomach for such a challenge. That pretty much covers the possible big names who might; any other challengers would be little-knowns like Kelly.
On hearing the news, my second or third thought was “Will President Trump actually come to Alaska and campaign for her???” He has said that he would! OhMyGosh! Might we actually get to meet him!?! Be still my heart! DH says “I just hope he brings Melania!” Exciting times, my friends. I’ll keep you posted.

How wonderful if President Trump does come to Alaska to campaign for Kelly Tshibaca. That’d be stupendous! If you get to attend any of the gatherings, we’ll expect an entire post of photos and descriptions…LOL!
And, yes, Melania attending would be an extra bonus. Has she ever been to Alaska? The scenery alone should be a huge incentive to visit the state.

The Air Force base at Anchorage is a regular refueling stop for Air Force 1 when flying from DC to China, Japan, the Phillippines, etc. The President and First Lady have visited the troops during refueling stops, but haven’t done any traveling around the state. I am so hopeful that they will come!
