    HAPPY FENCE FRIDAY!

Fence to protect folks visiting Sharp Park Beach in Pacifica, CA…apparently you can walk closer to the sea by taking the sloping paved pathway in front of the fence….

The live camera showed It was quite windy and the sea choppy on Thursday afternoon and evening in Pacifica, which is just south of San Francisco. Such weather isn’t unusual for the area and if it’s your thing, you’re in heaven. Me? I’ve always loved it as long as I’m dressed properly. This time of year it can get California-cold where people think they’re gonna die when it hits 45 degrees.

Two articles on the illegal immigration/border crisis….

Former ICE Chief: ‘Whole Nation a Sanctuary’ for Illegal Immigrants
    By CHARLOTTE CUTHBERTSON – March 18, 2021

Actions taken by the Biden administration have created a “sanctuary” for illegal immigrants, shielding them from immigration enforcement across the nation, according to Tom Homan, former acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Biden: No More Mr. ICE Guy
    March 18, 2021 – by Tony Perkins

Joe Biden won’t talk to the press — and he won’t let his administration either! In news that ought to incense the American public, the president has ordered a media blackout on anything having to do with the immigration crisis. Everyone from border patrol to sector chiefs have been told to “deny all access” to the press, no matter how friendly they may be. That means no interviews, no photos, no facilities tours or ride-alongs without the White House’s express permission. Just how desperate is the situation on the border? Enough to risk an administration-wide cover-up, it seems.

I have little faith in my fellow Americans. We got the election results because for years we have been slothful and passive in regards to our civic duties, and ignorant as a whole in choosing our leaders. Even “conservatives” often settled for the best commercials in choosing who to vote for.

That being said, if anything wakes Americans up again, including liberals, I think it just might be massive immigration and the threat, especially Covid, of the diseases they bring. President Trump, IMO, would not have been elected the first time without his very strong opposition to illegal immigration, and making it a talking point, a rallying cry. He gave blue collar Joe and Jane a voice on that issue when no one would hear them.

It amazes me that Americans are allowing ourselves to be jailed for free speech, to have our voting rights nullified, to allow our Christian brothers and sisters to be denied employment and other aggressions. But we won’t speak out en masse.

Eventually, I have hope that we will over this issue. Which kind of surprises me about myself, because unfortunately I have become a total pessimist about America’s future. I still believe that we are everything America always was, the country, the concept, the shining light. I believe in America, and I love her always. I do not believe in Americans. The caring and willing to make it actionable number are minute.

I hear you, Menagerie. It’s tough when so many of my lifetime friends voted for Biden and didn’t even bother vetting him, but that’s fairly typical of average Dems.

What’s surprising is that other friends who are Donald Trump supporters have been listening to “prophets” who claim God will put President Trump back in the White House, those prophets having received “revelations” that He was going to create a miracle with President Trump returning in triumph. Oh, my…I really have to concentrate and word my responses carefully when what I really want to say is “get real, people…fantasies are for the movies.”

Staying informed and helping others to do the same can be wearying, especially when we see our society being attacked from every angle and little ACTION done to stop it. But when you know the truth, it’s pretty hard to keep it hidden away. For THAT I do thank God and consider it a miracle. “…and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” – John 8:32

I’m right there with you, Menagerie, on feeling pessimistic about America’s future. I see us sliding awfully dam quickly into the hellhole of socialism/communism, and no one speaking out against it as our rights are taken away. I pray every day that our country is not over.

And occasionally I see an article like this one that gives me a little warm glow of hope:

I believe American opposition to Immigration coalesced during the riots around 2007. I believe the Globalists, this would be the Open Borders crowd thought the mythical 11 million Illegal Aliens getting Amnesty.
Had that happened, America’s demise would have occurred by now. The Globalists have control and the Illegals are flowing into the US.

Good morning everyone, we have a few days of sunshine coming. This weekend we plan to do some planting, try to get a little area in front of our home dressed up a bit. Last year was our first spring and summer here, and we just didn’t get any landscape done, to speak of. Half of what we planted died. I touch plant, they immediately die.

I read about what need sun, what kind of soil, etc. I’m doing everything possible to choose the right plants and take care of them. Still, they die! I think I am cursed. I wonder if I can have the plants we buy exorcised.

It’s getting hard to get my husband to dig holes for me when he knows the plant will soon be dead, and right now, basically one footed, I can’t dig. Wish us luck, we need it.

    Happy Friday.

Litenmaus, are you guys warmed up yet, any sign of spring there?

Try planting native plants. You can get lists from your county Ag agent (usually affiliated with a university as well). The plants tend to be less showy, but are less fussy. We are fortunate to have conditions friendly to azaleas, dogwood, redbud and crape myrtles. I find gingers are pretty resilient, and many have flowers sometime during the year. Oh, and knockout roses have lived for years in a place where the azaleas died.

Mornin’ Menagerie…Take a drive about or a walk about and check out the plants in the yards of your neighbors – that might give you an idea of which plants do well in your area. I wish you all the best results for a lovely yard.

The weather here for the last couple of days has been in the high 50’s during the day and night temperatures have stayed above the freezing mark as well. Yesterday I had a number of farmers tell me that they’re hoping to be back in the fields by Easter so at least the mind-set in the area is that spring is not too far off and I must admit, I am more than ready to see this winter come to a close.

I’m with ya there, ‘maus! Enough of the white stuff. We’re having our roof shoveled even as I write this. The pack up there is 3-4 feet deep. And though it was below zero this morning, we’re supposed to have a warming spell above freezing coming our way, possibly with rain. That would triple the weight of the roof’s snow pack. Lots of friends and neighbors are having their roofs shoveled, which is not commonly necessary here. We’ve had a lot of snow since late January. C’mon, spring!

Mornin’ All. We never did get any kind of storm. I knew we were at the bottom of it, but it missed us altogether. It just got warmer and more humid. And, it seems that it is hot and humid starting out today. Can’t complain. 🙄 It appears that the situation on the border is getting worse and worse. But, I don’t think most of the news is covering it at all. My friend’s liberal friends don’t have any idea it is even happening. I have to keep reminding myself that God is in control I shouldn’t have to remind myself, but I guess it is because I am human. Well, off to fix breakfast now. Hope everyone is safe.

Czarevich and I are going to the NO house to clear gutters of leaves and spray weed killer. Spring has sprung down here, despite the 52* temps today. Every year at this time the huge live oak in the back yard kicks off last year’s leaves and replaces them with catkins which last about a week then fall off leaving fishy smelling stuff to rot all over the roof and yard. Not attractive to buyers. Weeds were so bad we mowed mounds of them down.

Realtor is having an open house this weekend. If I don’t get an offer I may have to plant a statue of St. Joseph upside down in the garden: a local tradition to bring a buyer.

      • Hi Czarina 🙂
FYI, I don’t know who started the fabrication of burying St Joseph upside down, some say it was St. Teresa of Avila who buried a St Joseph medal and prayed, but no one really knows.
When selling my house 10 years ago I did research and NO do NOT bury the statue upside down. The St Joseph statue is to be put in a place of reverence and prominence inside your home, and then pray a novena to Saint Joseph for your house sale, which I did. I found this on an actual Catholic religious website, not some house sale website trying to sell you a “kit”.
I could not believe people were burying a saint’s statue upside down. I asked one woman “Would you take a crucifix and bury it in the DIRT UPSIDE DOWN?” Of course not she said. So I said why would you do that to the man God chose to be Jesus’ step father on earth? My goodness, how many people would do that with pictures of their own father?

BTW My house sold in 36 hours.

Take care of yourself, and good luck with the house sale 😉

    • Lucille says:

Does he think all vaccinations should be mandatory? How about his children being mandatorily vaccinated for HPV?

How about a next step of forced sterilizations for those whose genes carry lethal or debilitating illnesses like sickle cell anemia, or even if there is a history of mental illness in a family?

At what point does the force cease once it has started?

He talks about it in the video (you probably can’t see it). He makes a distinction between vaccs that protect the individual, and vaccs that protect the general populace by creating herd immunity. He favors mandatory vaccinations of the latter type, not the former. That means that the HPV wouldn’t qualify by his definition.

Thanks for the info. That’s a tad more reasonable, but I still don’t believe in government mandating everyone take an experimental drug or vaccination. Brings to mind literally holding a person down or placing him in restraints and giving him a shot. Shades of the CCP.
