A tragic story

I first learned about this yesterday via a YouTube channel that I follow. After thinking about it over night, I decided to share it with you.

Heather Conn has a YouTube channel; she cooks and bakes and home schools her two youngest children in a small town in Michigan.

On February 13, Heather, her husband Matthew and her two youngest children were on their way home from a Valentine’s dinner out when they were hit head on by a drunk driver.

Matthew Conn was killed instantly. Heather’s son Mason has two broken arms; one was a compound fracture, so he needed immediate assistance. Her daughter Mina suffered a broken arm, broken clavicle and a large gash on her forehead.

Heather was seriously injured. All four of her limbs are broken; one leg was put back together with plates and rods during a long surgical procedure at the University of Michigan Hospital. She also suffered a brain bleed, as well as six broken ribs and a punctured lung. The doctors weren’t sure if she would be brain damaged.

Here is a video that Heather made (using her phone) from the rehabilitation facility where she is recovering from her injuries.

I know that families all over our country suffer tragedies every day, but this one just touched me. If you feel led to do so, you can contribute to their Go Fund Me emergency fund to cover medical and living expenses. People have generously tripled the amount that was originally requested, but you can imagine how much their medical care alone will cost.

Heather is fortunate to have good friends to care for her and her children during this terrible time. She also has a P.O. box, if you feel like sending a card or letter:

Heather Conn
c/o Allison Irons
P.O. Box 73
Hadley, MI 48440

The driver of the other vehicle was uninsured. I don’t know if he lived or not, or who he is. I do know that his blood alcohol level was so high that it is amazing that he was conscious and able to drive.

I saw that…as most of my YT subscribers I follow are of the same interests! Very tragic…! Made me cry! All other YT accounts were asking us to go view as many of her videos as possible as that will increase her YT income. Thanks for posting this Stella!

Prayers for Heather and her dear children. May God comfort them all, provide quick recoveries in every aspect of their lives, and give them His peace.

Heather’s GoFundMe page has this notice: “We have discovered that our fundraiser here on gofundme for Heather is being impersonated by scammers, these fraudulent fundraisers have copied our gofundme page and have made their own pages on facebook and other charity sites in an attempt to steal peoples money. Please beware of these scams and know that the only official fundraiser and place to send Heather donations is here on gofundme. We are trying to get these scams taken down.”

Lord, may these fraudsters be defeated in all their underhanded dealings, and turn from their wickedness. Amen!
