The landing was successful!
Radar locked and cameras on. Looking for a safe spot for touchdown. About to cut free from a perfectly good parachute. I’m all in.#CountdownToMars pic.twitter.com/Eilc5Zq3ZW

I’m conflicted about Mars and moon ‘exploration.’ On one hand, science and discovery in and of itself is a wondrous result of mankind’s remarkable mind; and if we’re not first, some other dark society undoubtedly will go there and use them for power over earth. (That’s presuming ours is not already that malevolent society.)
Mostly, I’d like to leave the heavenly bodies we live among alone in their purety and beauty.
