Senate Impeachment trial will fail

The good news is that 45 Senators agreed that the impeachment trial should not go forward, as a matter of Constitutional point of order. This means that the impeachment trial will end in an acquittal of Donald Trump (as it should.)

The bad news is that there were five Republican senators who voted to proceed:

The Senate just voted on my constitutional point of order.

45 Senators agreed that this sham of a “trial” is unconstitutional.

That is more than will be needed to acquit and to eventually end this partisan impeachment process.

This “trial” is dead on arrival in the Senate.

Here is Rand Paul in the Senate today, speaking about the impeachment trial or, as he calls it, a “kangaroo court”:

The Senate trial will begin on February 8. It will fail. What matters here is that the House and Senate think it is okay to proceed with this unconstitutional, political show trial.

President Trump will be going after Lisa Murkowski when she runs for reelection to the Senate from Alaska in 2022. We all should too!

Toomey says he won’t be running. They are the two of the five who would be running in 2022.

      Sen. Paul is absolutely correct!

      Impeachment is a means to remove an elected official from office.

      Therefore, it is impossible to remove from office an elected official who no longer in office.

      This is purely a political vendetta!

      DO NOT ever again vote to elect any member of the “Gang of Five!” for any office!

      IMHO….

      1. Doesn’t it say right after that, they can vote so someone can’t reenter politics. That is the part they want to get to. Problem is………..if he is already out they shouldn’t be aable to do that. Of course they don’t care.

        1. What Dems are saying is that even though impeachment requires a 2/3 vote in the Senate, they can separately prevent President Trump from ever holding office again by a simple majority vote. That they can still punish him if impeachment fails (which it will.)

  2. Too bad there’s nothing that can make them feel the pain that they are screaming for! Not only are these 5 a disgrace to the GOP, they are a cancer for America’s Constitution! I wrote Toomey a few times on this subject, but it’s like pissing into the wind-useless!

  3. Yup. Thankfully, this one will also fail. Which only proves what we already knew – they are all a bunch of losers.

    But I am split on this one.
    A full-blown trial is the ideal place to lay out the case and provide facts to prove voting discrepancies in the 2020 election.

    And yet, best to get the thing over as quickly as possible, and move on to the next mountain to climb.

    They’ve been working for 5 years to re-create their very own special Watergate. lolol Too bad they picked the wrong guy to play Nixon.
