    “The Homecoming” ♫ (instrumental)
Artist: Newell Oler – Video filmed in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, CA.

Music is by Canadian composer Hagood Hardy who originally wrote it in 1972 as a jingle for Salada Tea. Parts of “The Homecoming” sound very much like “The Prayer” which David Foster wrote in 1998. Foster is also Canadian and I wonder if parts of that TV commercial tune stayed in his mind and was inadvertently used for his song.

Mornin’ All. The news is hilarious this morning. 🙄 Cop plows through crowd that surrounded his car and started beating on it when he answered a call of street racing blocking an intersection. Amazon is demanding that the vote for unionization be in person so it won’t be fraudulent. LOL. Biden is sending our hard earned money to South American countries where it will end up in the pockets of the leaders so they can live a lavish lifestyle. And, Biden doesn’t even know what he is signing when he signs one of this EO’s.

“It Had to be You” – Pianist, Beegie (BG) Adair

Beegie (b.1937) has been known in jazz circles for decades. She and her trio still perform regularly in Nashville. I discovered her not long ago on YouTube but don’t recall ever having heard her name prior to that. A person can’t know every musician, of course; but it’s a shame she’s not as well known to the general public as, say, Yanni or John Tesh.

Back in the day, I used to frequent a lounge that had a terrific jazz trio, and the owner would sometimes sing. He had a voice like Mel Torme. I always asked for this song, and he hated to sing it, but I still love it.

PS: The bass player in the trio was Don Fagenson, more frequently known as Don Was, who went on to become a well-known record producer. He is now President of Blue Note Records.

So many terrific musicians out there. Older musicians are taking a page from the younger generation and going on YouTube, giving a lot of them an opportunity to get their work viewed, appreciated and listened to over and over. And as for musicians of the long-gone past, YT channels are bringing them back to prominence, too.

I’m absolutely nutty about Bunny Berigan who was once a trumpeter with Benny Goodman.

In the “famous people I knew” category, I dated a guy in high school who was the son of Russ Phillips, who played trombone with Louis Armstrong for a time in the 1950’s. The son is also a trombonist and has a regular gig at a small jazz club in Chicago.

The other song I always requested was “You made me love you”. Of course, the original vocalist on that one was Judy Garland:

I’ve mentioned before that I have been using grocery delivery for quite some time. Since I swore off using Meijer stores (because of the snake Meijer family member who is in the House and voted for impeachment), I’ve been trying other stores.

Today I tried Aldi. I had never shopped at Aldi before and, although they have a limited number of items available, I am quite pleased with my order.

The produce was less expensive than at the other stores I’ve used in the past, and it is top quality and very fresh. Canned goods are private brands, I think, but well priced.

I ordered two meat items – frozen ground turkey, and uncured Bavarian bratwurst made in Germany. Haven’t tried either of those yet, but the latter is something I remember buying years ago at a small butcher shop in the town where I lived in Illinois.

Yon is trying his best to get the word out to as many people as possible. I pray President Trump’s lawyers are in contact with him and will use his expertise and evidence in the impeachment trial.
