Shooting of Ashli Babbit at the Capitol

Here is a new video closeup of the shooter. He is wearing a suit, has closely cropped hair. Secret Service or private security? Watch him track her with his gun just before attempting a head shot. As it was, he missed and got her in the neck. She died.

What I don’t understand is why so many people think that this shooting was warranted. Since when is is okay for LEOs to shoot an unarmed person for breaking and entering/trespassing? The most common excuse I have seen is “they didn’t know if she was armed or not.”

Haven’t police all over the country been arrested and charged with murder for just this kind of thing?

Examples of what I am talking about. Here is someone who I won’t name over at CTH:

LEO knew the person breaking in was a veteran? Not that It matters either. What do you think will happen when you break into a place and climb through the window? Particularly when you’re part of a mob who has already broken in and are now trying to break into an inner room?

It’s tragic, it’s unfortunate, but it’s her own fault. Mourn her death certainly, but lionizing her is idiotic.

How does LEO know she’s unarmed? She was part of a mob who has breached the building and is now breaching an interior room. Apparently a person with bad intent is entering the room. It’s unreasonable to wait any longer to repel the attack.

I don’t like that she was shot, but it was not an unforeseeable consequence. What did she intend to accomplish? I don’t know. But what was accomplished? Congress had the excuse they wanted.

The Democrat’s SA was there to “borrow” Trumps crowd and use it for their own ends. I suspect she allowed herself to be led astray and become fodder for their scheme.

All I’m saying is look at from the point of view of those inside the building whose job it is to protect the occupants.

I don’t like that she was shot and died. Of course not. But I don’t see that it was a wrongful act by LEO. Now if she and the others remained outside the building and LEO started shooting that would be wrongful. But that didn’t happen. They broke into the building and are breaking into an interior room. Nothing good is going to happen. It’s entirely foreseeable that something bad is going to happen.

There are many similar examples from the Twitter and Facebook world. And these are “conservatives”, presumably.

The woman wasn’t even through the window when she was shot. The shooter was aiming at her BEFORE she tried to climb in.

That’s my take. What do you think?

This will get brushed aside. Had she been black/Leftie/antifa/blm, would’ve been a whole different ballgame. Banana Republic, here we are!

This was different. The shooter wasn’t a panicked cop; he was obviously trained to shoot to kill. Question is – Why?

For some reason, my second comment posted but not my first.

Summary of what I said earlier (but not same format, etc.):

Shooter seemed to be untrained/inexperienced/stupid. I say this because through all the violence of BLM/antifa, while they tried to burn police alive by jamming the doors and setting fires; while they purposely targeted older, isolated Americans to mug, while they surrounded and terrorized Rand Paul’s party on DC streets as they tried to return to their hotel; while they killed others on the streets of Washington state and other places, while they looted, burned, destroyed, defaced, etc., they were not shot with live ammunition. This unarmed woman WAS.

Was he a rent a cop?

I do not believe the highly trained secret service would act in such a stupid manner. Nor do I believe they lacked multiple surveillance cameras to watch the surging mass of people. I do not believe the secret service would have failed to communicate and coordinate in dealing with this .

The police standing beside this murdered woman were spooked. Even with live fire, these police acted professionally and not like the shooter pretending he was on a spaghetti western set.

The shooter certainly didn’t worry about his bullet hitting/ricocheting/fragmenting another police on the other side of the wall. Or, on his side of the wall, for that matter.

Antifa were in the mix. And. Some have been identified.

She was deliberately targeted. Shooter wasn’t greatest shooter but he killed her anyway. He was very close. He had to have seen that her hands were empty.

Shooters are trained to shoot center-mass because the bullet is less likely to pass through and injure someone else. The only reason not to shoot center mass is because the target is wearing body armor. If so, a head shot is preferable because it is less likely to pass through the neck and injure someone else.
I do not think there was any failure on the officer’s part. He tracked her, aimed, and hit what he was aiming at. Training failures are spur of the moment shots. ex: Mistook some object for a firearm.
Either the officer wanted her dead or some told the officer she was to be killed. The question is Why Her?
There are a lot of unaddressed questions and there will be more unaddressed questions.
The main reason is that she was a Trump supporter. It was easier because she is white. Had she been a Black Biden supporter DC would have been torched including the White House.

          Very insightful.
I doubt they would station a rent-a-cop in there. At least one hired by any law enforcement. Maybe a rent-a-cop / private security hired by & for a Democrat.

Who knows why people do what they do. I’m not particularly interested (yet) in her motivation. I want to know why that agent decided to murder her, because that is what it was in my opinion.

How about a Reichstag incident like the Nazis used.
The Left has been on Right-Wing Violence or White-Wing Violence for decades. Now Biden can send the Feds after opponents to the Biden Admin.

        I had a scary thought,
Would Pelosi-Schumer try to rule the US via Congress? Like they did after the Civil War and Watergate?

The frustration level is over the top! I know because I’m there too and feel helpless. I had to listen to CNN and ABC today as my boss had his TV on and I was so angry listening to them accuse Trump of everything they are doing or did. The biggest thing that upsets me the most is the hypocritical accusations. I know…Saul Alinsky rules…they are working just fine for them. My boss thinks the patriots are criminals because of the MSM reports…and if he thinks this way, how many more Americans that watch that trash think like this too? This is not over…it’s just getting started. 😲

Another point no one has addressed is that bullet could have struck one of the officers or one of the crowd on the other side of the wall; it was reckless beyond belief.

I find it almost impossible to believe the secret service would behave in such a stupid, careless, and thoughtless way. That police officer beside her was obviously spooked at almost getting shot.

Are we to believe no surveillance cameras were operating inside, accessible to the secret service so they could direct actions?! Nah, this has to be a rent a cop type. ..or worse, it was a planned action.

That woman did not deserve to die. It was the “failure” of the gunman who lacked training or worse.

Look at the months and months of violence by BLM who were actively trying to harm others, who tried to immolate police by fire, who shot innocent people, who mugged them, who threatened Rand Paul openly in the streets as his party of people tried to get to their hotel…yet no police shot them with live fire, even when they threatened the president in the White House and when they burned the nearby historic church.

I was told later that this guy was probably Capitol police plain clothes. They guard the Senate and House chambers. I wondered too why he would take such a chance at shooting towards the crowd. He could easily have hit a policeman.

Stop the video and zoom in, the man it wearing Congressional cuff links, My bet is on him being a member of a security detail. Go back and watch the video again, he fires that weapon level to the floor not up in the direction of the woman. It’s a crime scene (or should be) a .45 would pass through the neck and lodge in the wall making it very easy to find a identify. Nobody reacts normally……the police behind her offer no aid and do not reach for their radios, when a civilian claiming to be medic shows he is told to move back. An individual just happens to step in front of the marble banister preventing her head from hitting it then moves to provided clear access for whoever is filming. She was shot while perched on the sill of a deadlight over a doorway but drops vertically after being shot. Sorry for this part but….a neck wound pumps blood out, everywhere, it’s really not a pretty sight, this bears no resemblance to such a wound. I honestly don’t know what to think.

A neck wound would pump blood out only if an artery was hit. I can’t agree with all of what you say here. Unless more facts prove it, I am taking what I see at face value.

Watch what the two police standing next to her do when she is on the ground. The one of the left reaches down and tugs on the scarf on her neck. He DOES NOT try to put pressure on the wound. Then the one of the right does pretty much the same thing. NOBODY puts pressure on the wound.

Former NYC Police Commish Ray Kelly may answer many of your questions.
Commish Kelly actually worked in D.C. and has the history of the Capitol Police, the methods they use and why, who reports to who, and the answer to why. Commish Kelly is as we – baffled, and furious.

This is 9 min 42 sec, but it may answer many of our questions (mp3 also downloadable from this site).
And Stella is correct – this was murder.
