    I tend to be the cook and solo clean up crew when I host Thanksgiving, so I generally pass on also offering our prayer before dinner. This has been a weird year, and I have some things to say this time. A lot of things!!

    Mornin’ Wee, SGH, and all. Americans are traveling this Thanksgiving. A big middle finger and an “up yours” to those leaders who are overstepping their bounds. It is obvious they are trying to kill the small businesses, especially bars and restaurants. Waiting for the Kraken. 😯

  5. So has anyone cooked a turkey on a rotating spit over a fire? No stuffing obviously, but I guess it tastes good!

      I have, but it was about 25 years ago. Similar results as a rotisserie chicken. Delicious and juicy. Make sure your spit will hold the weight. I had one unscrew in the middle and drop the turkey in the grill. It was rescued and still good, though!

      • That’s Right! – Like a rotisserie chicken. Sounds good Yum!

        We don’t have turkey because DH is allergic to it. I make some sort of pork roast.
        This year I’m going a bit more simple:
        Cook sliced onions in bacon fat till soft, but not brown.
        Drape over pork loin roast
        drape bacon over onions and pork roast
        carefully hold onto roast and turn over
        cover with more onions
        pull up bacon slices and use 3″ toothpicks to hold onto pork loin
        bake upside down then turn right side up and bake
        you can also add mustard or apricot jam to onions before the bacon
        Maybe I’ll drizzle maple syrup or sprinkle a little brown sugar over top to make a crust.

      • Nothin wrong with a little char on your rescued turkey! Those fancy restaurants probably charge extra for it! 😉
