I looked it up and Florida used to allow part time residents to have dual licenses, but since we have to have that special license they have stopped that. Sorry, I couldn’t figure out how to link.
Did Florida winnow out those part-timers or just let them renew without checking their residency? The ability to claim a homestead exemption in both states was one of the selling points of buying in Florida, in the 70s/80s the state sorta looked away when they got dual residency, it was a money maker and the state was addicted. I’m wondering if the licence changes post-911 had any effects or if the changes were all for the universal; licences after 911?
I wonder what Florida’s doing about those NY/NJ residents with property in Florida who have driver’s licences in both states?

From what I read, the changes were for the universal licenses.

Back to my mantra: politicians rarely make a law that doesn’t have a backdoor.
