Good Morning Lucille and everyone else as you meander in.

I would like to ask for a little help if possible. I am not on any social media ie facebook or twitter but I need to save a persons social media postings before I attempt to have them removed from a position of access to young and impressionable minds. Does anyone here have any advice? Thanks in advance, Gary

BABY!!!!!!!!!!! It’s on the way. Her water broke at 5:30 this morning. Shouldn’t be long now. She had the last one within two hours of getting to the hospital. Hope this one is that easy………..although I doubt “easy” is a term she would apply at this moment. 🙄 Prayers for her and the baby please.

Mornin’ everyone. Got to watch my time. I have a chiropractor appt today.

Wasn’t the RNC great last night? Melania was superb. I loved the pardon for Ponder. And, Sandmann was great! I cheered when he put on the MAGA hat. 🙂 Everybody was wonderful.

You gotta remember that Katrina badly shut down a whole string of hi-producing refineries from Norco down thru Lower Plaquemines Parish and other refineries picked up a lot of the slack. We have refineries all up and down the river and they collectively crank out a ton of product…we breathed in the exudate from the Chalmette refinery for years, it was directly across the river from us.

Then again the refiners won’t hesitate to use any excuse to raise prices even though we’re still not using as much gas as we did before the pandemic.

    • Very important news! 😉
The wine would literally kill me (allergy), but the cherry turnover is definitely now on the menu! Hahaha! 😉

        Sulfite allergy?

I was a disappointment to a number of European relatives as I have zero taste for wine though I did really like some of the German versions of our Mad Dog and Thunderbird. I was a beer lover and took every chance I could to visit the host of gasthauses and microbreweries throughout the country.

I have close to a hundred steins arranged around the top of the kitchen cabinets and a lot of beer glasses in the cabinets, just about all from my breweries I visited. I do love a good beer and to me they compliment a meal as wine does for other folks.

        • Yes sulfite allergy – quite severe. I have seen menu match-ups with beers at some restaurants, as was discussed yesterday – seems a good idea to me 😉

My aunt sent a complete probably 15 piece set of beer steins from Germany when my uncle was stationed there, but only 2 survived the trip. How nice the ones you put around the kitchen survived!

If it’s a sulfite allergy, they do make sulfite-free wines.

        • Evenin’ Stella 🙂

Yes they make “no sulfite added” wines, but after calling up a few wineries in Calif, I found out sulfites occur naturally to some extent in all wines even if they are not later added. If someone has a severe allergy, it could still possibly be life-threatening to drink.

As an aside, CVS even if you say you have a sulfite/sulfa/sulfur allergy still allows prescriptions to be filled for you with a certain level of sulfur saying it is below the amount that would cause a reaction in most people. This is a real danger to people like me, and CVS did not inform me of this before giving me the medicine. I read the chemical composition and found out then returned it, and had a very “frank” discussion with them while they put warnings all all my account. ~ just a warning to others out there.

  8. Morning Everyone 🙂

I would always get these two paintings a bit confused, so I thought I’d put them here together:
    Childe Hassam Allies Day

and this is The Fourth of July, 1916 Childe Hassam

Have a great day everyone! 🙂

Childe Hassam’s work is wonderful. In the 1980s I was out art gallery-hopping and went into a gallery in Beverly Hills which sold works like Rembrandt etchings and other uber well-known artists.

The owner had a smallish Hassam landscape painting for a couple thousand, saw me looking at it and came over. I told him I loved Hassam, pronouncing the name “Ha-sahm” as I’d never heard it pronounced before. Without dropping a beat, he said, yes, that “Hass-um” was one of his favorites, too. I felt like an ignorant hick. LOL! Good thing I didn’t pronounce “Childe” as “Chilled”…hahaha!

Folks next door are ragging on Louisiana governor Edwards (Dem) for making evacuees from the hurricane zone traveling on state-sponsored buses wear masks. I’m trying to explain to them that he has no choice. They’re traveling on common carrier on Federal roads and he’s going to have to follow Federal mandates, especially as he’s going to have to seek reimbursement from FEMA.

They’re also being taken directly to hotels that have their masking rules too and there’s a question as to if the hotel will allow them in if they’ve traveled a couple of hundred miles jammed maskless in a bus. There are also tort lawyers circling this operation as they do all feeding opportunities so he has to dodge bullets being fired from multiple angles…allowing the evacuees to travel in a group sans masks is not an option. I don’t seem to be getting through.

    • Yes, last week or so I calmly and in detail explained a topic that I knew would be somewhat unpopular but may very well help get some of those important undecided former democrats that can not bring themselves to vote for extremist democrats, but don’t want to vote for Trump because of his rough edge tweets etc. I couple of people “liked” my suggestion, but others politely went on & on about Pres Trump driving dems crazy and ignored any discussion of my suggestion. I feel like you are at times talking to a wall over there. I figured maybe others who just lurk, even those undecided, may read it and vote for Trump.

Trump Investigating Andrew Cuomo, Democrat Governors Who Killed Nursing Home Patients
    By Chuck Ross – August 26, 2020 | 6:42PM WASHINGTON, DC

The Justice Department’s civil rights division will request data from the governors of four states, including New York and Michigan, as part of a preliminary investigation into whether nursing home policies implemented there caused spikes in coronavirus fatalities.

“New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Michigan required nursing homes to admit COVID-19 patients to their vulnerable populations, often without adequate testing,” the Justice Department said in a statement on Wednesday.

Lake Charles has an elevation of about 13 feet and is expecting a tidal surge of between 20 and possibly 30 feet, and that’s not counting the wind driven waves on top of that. Parish sheriff has put out a post to residents not leaving telling them that no rescue attempts will be made until to write the storm surge has receded. He suggests that residents write their names, personally identifying information and a contact outside of the area, seal it in a zip lock bag and secure it in a pocket just in case.
