      Sorry about not removing the info after the .jpg…c’est la vie! It’s a photo of Lake Tahoe’s bike path. I’m not sure how long the path is. If it’s all around the lake, that’d be extremely long since after the Great Lakes, Tahoe is #6 in size for the U.S., amazingly enough. It’s a very beautiful spot on God’s green earth.

    Don’t know how to make a little sleepy smiley face, but I’m not really awake yet.
    Here is View from the South Rim of Inner Canyon Gunnar Widforss, early 1900s, watercolor:

    This has a different location name but looks very much like the same place as yesterday’s painting, just from a different angle. It is unusual for me to find one right after the other, 2 paintings of the same place in different styles by different artists. Even though they are different media and styles, I like them both.

    Hey ever’body! Y’all may have heard about our big earthquake last night, a 7.8 magnitude followed by a tsunami warning. DH and I did not feel even a shudder. The epicenter was about 200 miles south of us, out in the Aleutian chain. About 2 hours after the tsunami alert was issued, it was cancelled. Apparently there was one, but it was only about 2 feet high. Folks down in Homer and other low-lying communities evacuated to high ground, but were able to return home. DH and I are on the western edge of the Kenai Peninsula, but we are about 125′ above sea level–so not at risk from rising water unless it’s The Great Flood redux. Anyhoo, all is well here at Casa Tundra.

    ps. DH finally registered to comment next door (slid in under the wire by the hair of his chinny-chin-chin). He is posting as oddoggs, his nickname at the US Coast Guard Academy back in the day.

    In the Army we used to have a saying that ‘One OH SH*T! wipes out a thousand attaboys’, appears that the Sierra Club believes that too.

    The Sierra Club’s officially kicking John Muir to the curb, taking steps to remove his presence from the exclusive club of tree huggers as he was known to make uncomplimentary comments about people of color and indigenous peoples. The Club doesn’t demur to de-Muir.

    So there won’t be anymore white heroes, their whiteness reeks of racism due to, well, their whiteness. The only infallible people left will be those not white and, perhaps, a few of those whites who offer themselves up to a deep hate and guilt-filled introspection that leads to a wokeness that will signal a cultural suicide. As we slouch towards an American gacaca court where the endless throng of those victimized by European perfidy can extract monetary blood from the national turnip. Our country won’t be defined by the good it’s done, the scientific and social achievements it’s accomplished but by the deeds now deemed evil by critics over a hundred years removed.

      There go all the schools named after Muir in Cali and wherever else…if they’ve not already been re-named for THE Rev. Al Sharpton. I foresee Trayvon Martin Junior High, Michael Brown Community College, George Floyd High School.

        And amazingly, after the names are changed all the children who were not doing well at the Muir-named schools will begin loving school, get passing grades, have high self-esteem and more civilized behavior.
