There is political fruit in these burnings, there’s an election coming up and these criminal acts can cause some voters to vote out of fear and/or anger and that benefits Democrats. Note the police chiefs seen on the news hugging and kneeling with protestors…you think they did this out of their hearts or did the mayors and city councils that hired and can fire them had them do that? The NOLA Chief of Police, not the most eloquent on his best day, fumbled thru a prepared speech, glancing down for prompts and stumbling thru words as he praised protestors and warned them ‘not to take the bait’ offered by imported agitators.

They rounded up a black minister, a sure sign this was heavily directed at black participants, who also praised them for their restraint and their struggles. Then again many remember the ‘old’ NOPD and still aren’t convinced there aren’t still strains left in the ‘new’ NOPD.

Our mayor is from LA,. she grew up in a city where wanton destruction, looting and violence is the innercity response to the mail being delivered late so how long the light response would go on in the face of violence, were it to occur, is a question. The city’s already suffering from tax revenue losses and is ready to get hit again as the rest of the area around the city (i.e., bars) is opening, NOLA is not, and drinkers are leaving the city to socialize in the surrounding parishes. People are going to think twice about going downtown and partying with the protestors in the city anyway, and if they continue to smudge the nightlife when our bars and clubs do open again there’s going to be a problem.

There’s political gain on the other side too. People are seeing that the Dems aren’t willing to protect law abiding citizens. Look at what happened in NYC last night. DC was much better because of the increased police and military presence.

That’s what helped keep Nixon in office but now we have more skilful Leftist propagandists and the internet.
