It seems that certain Democrat elected officials and/or their family members definitely are. Just a few examples:
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez expressed her solidarity with the antipolice demonstrations that raged in Brooklyn over the weekend and included turnstile-jumping and defacing cop cars.
“Ending mass incarceration means challenging a system that jails the poor to free the rich,” the first-term Democrat wrote on Twitter on Saturday.
Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) tweeted support on Sunday for the Black Lives Matter petition to defund police departments across the United States.
“Know that it’s still both, but don’t let the “who” overshadow the decades of structural racism that has created the system that allows police officer after police officer off the hook for murder. I just want us to dig deeper so that the #DefundPolice movement isn’t brushed aside,” Tlaib tweeted after an earlier post about the “what” is more important than the “who” in the death of George Floyd who died in police custody on Memorial Day in Minneapolis.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s daughter was arrested at a Manhattan protest on Saturday night, law enforcement sources told The Post on Sunday.
Chiara de Blasio, 25, was taken into custody around 10:30 p.m. after cops declared an unlawful assembly at 12th Street and Broadway in Lower Manhattan, the sources said.
She had allegedly been blocking traffic on Broadway and was arrested after refusing to move, the source said.
“That was a real hotspot, police cars were getting burned there, people were throwing and yelling, fighting with cops. There were thousands of people in that area at that time,” the source said.
The son of Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison tweeted on Sunday that he is declaring his support for Antifa after President Trump said that his administration would be declaring it a “Terrorist Organization.”
Jeremiah Ellison, who is a member of the Minneapolis City Council, noted in the tweet that he believes “white power” terrorists are actually the ones engaging in the looting, arson and other riot activities as violent sects hijack some of the protests against racial inequality and police brutality in the wake of the death of George Floyd last Monday.
“I hereby declare, officially, my support for ANTIFA,” Ellison said. “Unless someone can prove to me ANTIFA is behind the burning of black and immigrant owned businesses in my ward, I’ll keep focusing on stopping the white power terrorist THE ARE ACTUALLY ATTACKING US!”
Those are just a few. The ones to keep a special eye on are members of Congress and other elected officials. Many are joining in, including Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, Julian Castro, Justin Amash, Maxine Waters, and many more.
