DNA Analysis Reveals a Genus of Plants Hiding in Plain Sight
    September 4, 2018

Gene-sequence data is changing the way that botanists think about their classification schemes. A recent name-change for a common houseplant resulted from the discovery that it belonged in an overlooked genus.

Being, from Miami, I am very familiar with this tree climbing plant. I would have them here, but I’m sure Mississippi is too cold in the winter.

I had a Window-pane Philodendron (Monstera deliciosa) in our dining room in Scotland. It was magnificent! When we had to leave the UK, we gave it to a friend of mine. She came to pick it up, and it had grown so large, it had air-roots growing behind the wallpaper! It took 3 of us to get it to her car. I think it was probably one of the most beautiful specimens I’ve ever grown.

I can’t grown anything in the house I now live in, not enough sunlight!

Thought I’d post this here first, but my mind’s been arollin’ around over a Geraldo Rivera-like thought.

I’m seeing more reports on the unusual level of blood clots associated with the COVID. That drew me back to a report I saw some years back on how person with lower levels of ACE2 in their blood had a higher propensity for blood clots. Tonite there was a research doctor from a local university hospital saying that they were finding blood clots in the African Americans (AA) who’d died of the COVID (10) they’s autopsied and a high number of patients and deaths are being seen with such, so many that a number of doctors are treating patients on vent with prophylactic blood thinners to prevent clots.

Another study I saw a few months back mentioned that the SARS-1 virus is inactivated by the nitric oxide (NO) the body naturally makes and people with higher levels of NO have a lesser effect from the virus. It appears that the COVID and the SARS both being coronaviruses may be alike in their susceptibility to NO, and there was a report in a journal about a person with COVID (might have read the same earlier article I did) who self-administered NO and had a remission. Some docs are strongly looking at NO as a COVID treatment.

Digging back I found a couple of reports that showed a number of AAs tend to have lower levels of NO in their bodies which would put them at a sharp disadvantage when it comes to their bodies fighting the virus. There’s also the issue of ACE inhibitor medications increasing ACE2 activity, pouring gasoline on an already volatile ACE2/COVID relationship…and how many AAs are on ACE inhibitors for high blood pressure, kidney issues and diabetes…all red flags already mentioned as contributing factors?

There’s an even more of a tabloid conspiracy theory aspect but I ain’t going there yet. I am taking my 81-grain aspirin, I’m taking my zinc, vitamins C and A and am thinking of buying a bag of poppers…I’ll let you know when I start covering the windows with tin foil.

That’s what the doc’s are using. I won’t say 100% but it makes you safer if we’re to believe the docs.

Czarina had mentioned that she believed you’d posted you had PVD? If so, have you tried Metanx?

Peripheral Neuropathy, Lyrica. I don’t think anybody is yet sure of what’s wrong. They suspect MS, but won’t do the necessary lumbar puncture to know for sure. I’m just getting tired of it all.

That’s what I had when the doc prescribed the Metanx, diabetic peripheral neuropathy. It wasn’t too advanced, just sort of starting.

Long story lovely, and a strange one, but maybe I have von Willebrand too. I stopped short on the diagnosis when they kept losing my blood tests. At any rate, if I do have it it’s very mild, no transfusions, or big problems.

But if you are across the room and breathe in my direction I will have a bruise.

You are only the third person I know who knows what it is.

          Same here.

I had major complications with 2 surgeries.

As to testing it is generally done by a bunch of yahoos, the blood test counts your factors if sent to a competent white coat in a competent lab. The bleed time is just nonsense since I have only ever had one tech who knew what she was doing.

One tech kept pulling the paper tissue away from the cut rather than snapping it up. He announced that I didn’t have it. I told him he didn’t do the test right (I didn’t waste my breath telling him that the bleed test doesn’t determine whether or not one has the disorder it is simply a clot time test) 🙄.

After the third time he did it wrong I told him I was leaving which is when he announced again that I was Von Willebrand free.

          Hallelujah.

Morning, all y’all! Before I sign off for the night I had to come leave you a link to an excellent article I just read. Best and clearest explanation I’ve found yet on Obamagate.

Stella, got my new iPad and I am delighted with it. Only one small aggravation so far. I got the bigger one and holding it in both hands and tying as you do, without thinking about it, on a tablet makes it harder to reach the center of the keyboard letters. I have it in landscape mode, may change to portrait, see if that helps.

I don’t think I’m going to have as many WordPress problems.
