Terrific! Interesting mix of pix, loved the Princess Leia hairdos on the Hopi women! And the difference in height between Grant’s horse and the white one later. Funny how I look at such pix now and think of how those people thought they were “modern”! I become more aware of what we thought was so modern in the sixties, seventies, eighties, etc., is now so outdated! Then I think of how modern we are now, such as on the HGTV home remodeling, and wonder what will be “modern” in twenty years, when I am ninety!

Why Thank you Lucille for having my orderly hold my horse. It’s time too unsaddle him, and enjoy retirement.

Just had a feeling this was Gen. Grant’s horse, who was about as tall as the handler.

Grant was the best horseman who ever attended West Point, by most raters, and his horse Cincinnati and was, I believe, 16h+.
I’m reminded of the pictures from WW1 of cavalry horses standing with their dead riders on the battlefield, refusing to leave even with the fire going on.

Czar, still present on Form1. I did check out your suggestion on the 6.5 creedmore upper for my AR-10. Brownwell has excellent complete uppers. The price is within my range, an ammo by 500rds still cheap. Just can’t go too the ASP with a 581,

The 6.5 Ceedmore’s a necked-down 7.62Nato, gonna be the new intermediate SOCOM sniper round. If you want to reload there’s a slug of places selling completely reprocessed once-fired brass for much less than new brass and you still have to do some reprocessing even on new brass. Great supply and diversity of 6.5 projos too.

Yes, and Custer said at Gettysburg; “Keep too your Sabers Men” – East Cavalry Battle field in meeting and repelling Wade Hampton’s Brigade 1863.
Didn’t quite catch what Custer said at the Little Bighorn. About 3:30, I was very busy on Reno Hill.

Mornin’ all. Clear skies and sunny here. My friend and I are ready to protest. Plus, she is complaining every day all day about not being able to go out to lunch. Therefore, I suggested she come over to my place and we will order in (since there are still no restaurants open except for carry out or delivery) and watch a movie. I know, it isn’t much. But, it is our little contribution to the movement. 🙄

Good afternoon, aus! Glad you’re having fun with your pal. The highlight of my day is getting to pet my Mr. Gee when he rolls over and shows his spotted tummy. LOL!

LOL That sounds like a pretty good highlight. I saw an ad for a little doggie needing a home. She is a tiny poodle, 4 lbs. The problem is, I would have to carry her up and down the stairs and worry about her falling down the stairs. Also, she is so little and I need a dog that can walk with me and as she is a senior, that also might be a problem.

This chair is my new obsession! I originally intended to buy two for the patio, and occasionally bring them indoors for extra seating as needed. Only one at a time could be crammed into the backseat of my little Toyota. I’m up to three now, one outside, two inside kind of in the corners of the living area, and I’m going to get one more soon.
They are so light that it is easy to carry them in and out, they look great in my house, and they are not visually “heavy” since they are not an upholstered chair, so they don’t mess up my open feel. Cheap easy seating for my big family, if we ever get together again.
I need pretty cushions for these, and a nice heavy swing and stand for the patio and furnishing our new place will be done, except for plants. Sure has been fun, like getting to buy presents for yourself for six months!

Hello all,
Hope you are all well.
I need your help. My friend’s family owns a small bank in eastern Massachusetts with 7 offices and about 150 employees. They are having a terrible time finding enough sanitizer (or higher strength alcohol maybe?) that can be used to clean the atm machines and drive-thrus. They also need to keep the employees who process mortgage/loan and other bank mail in and legal documents healthy. Does anyone know either online, or in eastern Mass, southern NH or southern Maine where sanitizer appropriate for atms in large (maybe gallon) quantities are available? There is NO way a bank can close down, but they are supposed to continually sanitize everything.
Thank you,
We really appreciate your help

Oh Thank You Lucille! That’s great! I’ll send my friend the info right away. I really appreciate that.
I really miss my daily chat with you all, and especially your beautiful pictures each day 🙂
Right before my last computer died, I had a whole series of beautiful women’s gowns and cocktail dresses with matching jewelry from the 1820’s to the 1950’s set to post each day, but now it’s gone 😦 Art as fashion and jewelry.
It’s been crazy for me for a while now, but I keep on thinking of my art posts I would like to start again.
I pray God surrounds you with His love.
Thanks again dear Lucille,

Hi Tundra Pa 🙂
How are you? Well I hope! Any recent photos with the doggies to share?
I hope the sunshine and warmth are bringing to life the lovely flora in Alaska. I also hope you are far enough away from both any virus and also the madness being pushed on much of the lower 48. So when the snow is gone, do you attach wheels to the sled and go thru the summer fields with the dogs? That must be beautiful.
How kind of you to remember me, I miss you all too.
The weather has been very strange this winter here in southern NH, and along with medical treatments, it’s caused multiple allergic reactions and bad reactions to treatments since last summer. I keep praying the weather will improve, and after hopefully another month of treatment I will stop having these bad reactions, so I can get back to normal activity, such as conversing with my Stellar friends! 😉 Things will get better. Maybe those sun spots changing will change the weather for the better – Lower dew points and humidity!
So a big HELLO! to everyone – Stella, you Tundra PA, Lucille, Menagerie, Czarina, and all the gang. Sleep well and sweet dreams my friends.
You know – I think I’ll go back to my original name before I was confused with someone else over at the Treehouse 🙂

Your posts have often been an inspiration to me. We often go through life never knowing the ripple effect our acts of kindness have on others, so I just wanted to say that. Thank You for encouraging me to post again. I just replied to Tundra PA that I hope in another month, weather permitting (it’s been really weird here) I’ll be back even better than before!
You take good care of yourself too, and have a peaceful night’s rest 😉

More on the 1st Cavalry in World War II and aftermath…
Vincent Suarez on horse 5C 1942 – 1st Cavalry
Two Troopers of the 1st Cavalry Division were awarded the Medal of Honor posthumously during World War II (SGT Troy A. McGill, G Troop, 5th Cavalry Regiment for actions on Los Negros Island, Admiralty Group on 4 March 1944; and PFC William J. Grabiarz, E Troop, 5th Cavalry Regiment for actions in Manila, Philippine Islands on 23 February 1945). Major General William C. Chase officially took command months later, and his nickname for the division, “First Team”, was well-received and remains today.
In September of 1945, the “First Team” led occupational forces into Japan’s capital city, earning the distinction of “First in Tokyo”. The 1st Cavalry Division spent the next five years in Japan on Occupation Duty. First quartered on the Yoyogi Parade Grounds the Division moved to the outskirts of the city and occupied Camp Drake in September 1945.
The Division’s first mission in Tokyo was to assume control of the central portion of the city. Daily patrols began the long task of locating, investigating, and reporting all Japanese installations which had contributed to the nation’s war effort. All arsenals, factories, barracks, and storage grounds had to be examined and reports made of their contents. In addition, the Division was concerned with the status of demobilization of the Japanese armed forces. The 1st Cavalry Division’s occupation jurisdiction extended over 5,000 square miles.
The years 1946 to 1950 saw further easing of tensions between Japanese and Americans. Whenever floods or earthquakes hit the Japanese mainland, the Cavalrymen joined the rescue efforts. Once every few weeks, the Division staged colorful parades in the Imperial Plaza in the heart of Tokyo. Division Troopers contributed time, money and their talents to a number of Japanese orphanages and other social relief agencies. (https://1cda.org/history/)

Just for the heck of it I went to my browser tools and cleared my cookies then went back and called up the Treehouse and another WP site. I didn’t sign in, just opened the two WP sites as I would were I just someone visiting to read – a total of 87 cookies just by visiting two sites. I sign in to the Treehouse and – bam – I pick up another 12.
I have two blockers I use but now I find while they do stop most, not all, as long as I have the blocker on I can’t get into the section where someone would send me a reply or like. It’s at the point where I clear my browser before I sign on and after I sign off of WP.

The DoD is returning the USNS Comfort to home port in Norfolk – appears it really wasn’t needed. It treated only 179 patients as a home for overflow non-COVID patients and, when converted to take COVID patients, it was found Comfort wasn’t needed as the Javits Convention Center was converted into a 1500 bed emergency hospital. The ship will leave for Norfolk to be restocked and readied for its next mission while much of the ship’s medical staff will stay in NYC and work with patients directly in hospitals.

Louisiana governor will extend the ‘stay at home order’ until at least 15 May. Cases are dropping but not to the levels they need to be to enter Phase 1 but as the gov pointed out some 10,000 of the current active cases were contracted DURING the stay at home order. Louisiana ethos rules.

How Obama/Biden Wrecked the U.S. Medical Device Industry
By Daniel John Sobieski – April 27, 2020
As lawmakers ponder ways to bring back U.S. manufacturing of pharmaceuticals, their raw materials, medical supplies, and devices, it must be remembered a major part of this problem which has come back to bite us was created by the Obama/Biden administration and the medical device tax that was included in ObamaCare that was supposed to defray the costs of this doomed-to-failure new entitlement program.

Living in the “city” (small town) now, one doesn’t expect to see the delights like we saw when out in East Township.
But Our Lord is good.
Two full grown does and two fawns, spots nearly gone, are feasting on the new shoots of the lilac bushes.
Now if the wild turkeys would just find their way into my driveway.

Supreme Court Dodges the Second Amendment
Editorial of The New York Sun | April 27, 2020
What the Supreme Court just supposed is that it couldn’t rule on a law prohibiting persons in New York City from carrying a legally owned gun to an out-of-town range or residence from a range or residence in town. That these are the inches of freedom for which New Yorkers are forced to go all the way to the Supreme Court to fight is itself a scandal in a country whose Constitution protects the right to keep and bear arms.
