Mine is almost done! Just need to plant the 2nd and 3rd row of beans, some pumpkin seeds, some basil, and maybe some potatoes.

I’m just starting mine. What I mean about being right is what she says about sharing knowledge and encouraging those who are just realizing the wisdom of planning and becoming self-sufficient.

Us Old Guys learned gardening from our parents, and we’ve much to share and pass on, including canning, sewing, knitting, etc.
None of my family cared to learn. Is sad, really, as there is so much to share. How will they know how to remove the lye from lutefisk so they don’t sicken, or how to operate a krunkaka iron? (won’t mention none of them will touch fish…Communists, every last one lolol)
Thank goodness some remnant will be found online and on youtube

Well, since anyone can buy an iron from Nordic Ware for just under $60, with free shipping, I guess this skill will live on without your family’s knowledge… And, from what Czar says, we’d rather forget about lutefisk.

Yes. But it isn’t GMa’s iron she brought over with her from Norway.
One thing i’ve had to accept is that the GKids are not interested in our family’s heritage.
Heck, by the time i was there age i could name 4 generations and count in Danish. Ah well

Mary!! What about onions, at least two rows, yes on potato’s. Maybe try some sunflowers, the birds will pay attention too the seed heads. Lettuce, leaf or head, and cabbage. Leave room for tomatoes, don’t forget too stake them up….
