This was a very good press briefing IMO.

Madness is starting to plateau…or take a breath. Local ‘big city’ Walmart had a rat full parking lot but most people were seeming to just be topping off, their carts were filled as they’d normally be, not piled high in panic.
There was water on the shelves and in the aisles but it was still piled high, the eggs were gone (just barely at 2PM) and there was still milk. No bread but the shelves, I was told, were full but it appears that people are making more sandwiches at home rather than eating lunch at restaurants. Yes, I checked, they were out of brown paper sacks.
I found that as I approached the irritating Walmart ‘we gotta check you, scum, to make sure you’re not stealing the bok choi’ ‘greeter’ on the way out I found that if I have a violent coughing spree just before I reach her all she does is back away and say “Have a nice day’. As long as I’m on the subject, I wonder how many of these surge workers Walmart’s hiring will still have a job two weeks after the flu crisis is overt? After Katrina the fast food and grocery stores in NOLA were paying $15 an hour and $1300 to $1800 sign-on bonuses to be paid out over so many months. Within a few months bodies were coming back and competing for jobs so the businesses, especially some well-known BIG fast food stores, dropped the wages back to minimum and refused to pay the rest of the bonus the employees were yet to receive. Jes awondrin’…

Not here, our governor just basically shut down several counties, any county with even one positive case this afternoon and it’s being reported WalMart has been packed since. I think they close in about an hour. They are supposedly limiting just about every food item, toilet paper, paper towels, kleenex, etc. to a limit of 2.
Then all of these concerned health care workers that I call bs on and are more trolls than anything are all over FB yelling for people to listen the hospitals are full of coronavirus patients, they can’t hold anymore. Then the state health department reports 25 are hospitalized due to COVID-19.
I don’t know what they’ve been saying on the news today because I don’t watch, but all the people who were finally calming down and starting to listen to reason are back with their hair on fire and getting ticked at anyone who mentions flu numbers. I honestly don’t know why it makes them mad to quote the SHD that a little over 200 hundred are hospitalized due to the flu and that 2 died from the flu in one week, but they go insane.
My husband was reading a thread earlier and he told me in his opinion it’s almost like they want to ignore the flu can kill you as well, because that is not the drama of the day.

According to this chart, Oklahoma has a total of 106 confirmed cases, and 3 deaths.

So far Czarina hasn’t come home with the virus but we have it on good faith that virus moms are hanging pictures of her in their hosts and telling virettes to keep 6 feet from her.
We have 320 cases in the state, 53 on the coast and 13 in our county. Gov has finally ordered a big sdhutdown – there were a few restaurants still open – but it’s going to be tough getting construction and loggers to shut down, though loggers keep more than 6 feet apart.

You know what’s sad here? Even before our new lockdown today, several cities had already ordered shut downs and the cities weren’t even allowing funerals with more than 10 people.
Funeral homes are telling people they can do live stream funerals. I read that the other day when a man that just about everyone in this county knows passed away from cancer. His family was telling everyone they were unsure what the funeral plans were due to being told this by the funeral home.
I mean totally crazy funerals aren’t essential.

I don’t really know what they’re going to do. They were supposed to say today, but nothing yet.
He was a rancher, so they might just decide to hold the funeral on the ranch. I was trying to remember today where his parents were buried out, but just can’t recall.
With just his wife, kids, grandkids and siblings that’s more than 10.
All of his family were with him at home when he passed away and I think they were all allowed to visit him at the funeral home.

That is the same as the Health Department is reporting except for they list 2 positive cases out of state.
The first death was a man in his fifties, they still haven’t said if he had any underlying health issues, the second death was also a man in his fifties whose family has said he did have health issues(the state won’t say) and the last one all they’re saying is a woman in her 60’s. They keep saying HIPPA laws don’t allow them to give anymore information other than their age, sex and county they lived in.
Still imo not a reason to shut all the businesses down, especially as how they don’t do it for the flu, that in one week had more cases, more hospitalizations and one less death than the virus since the first case first reported case on March 7, but he first started showing symptoms Feb. 29th.

We’ve discussed that disparity between the <100 deaths from the coronavirus as opposed to the 17,000+ from the flu this year plus the fact that only around 40% of the US population got the flu vaccine.
By personalizing this virus they've made it exciting to many people, like they're participating in a reality show or on one of those scary-safe rides at the county fair. Many people have their own little narratives running around in their heads and don't want common sense or reality intruding. For the first time since we moved here Czarina has a rifle close by at the door in case some player decides to leave the island and rescript the play.

My husband who still watches the news was telling me our governor said we’re getting 10,000 tests by the end of the week and he excepts the numbers to grow dramatically. So he told me to expect the panic to be even worse tomorrow. I told him, but unless the deaths grow dramatically don’t they realize it will just make the death rate even less? He told me probably not as he heard some woman say that we have to take this more serious and realize it’s worse than the flu as it’s already killed over 100 people in Oklahoma.
Obviously people hear over 100 cases and their brain tells them over 100 dead. Which begs the question if you’re that terrified why are you on the street being interviewed by the media?
I did read though about a man in the hospital awhile ago, the headline made it sound like he was literally on his death bed. Said he was a strong attorney and now fighting for his life. Reading the story though, he’s on oxygen, still talking on the phone, including an interview over the phone. Then also in the middle of the story was how this hospital has a wing set up for coronavirus, but they are nowhere near full. So there goes the trolling on FB that all of our hospital beds are full of COVID-19 patients.

The media and pols got the ball rolling and now it’s going on momentum. I think of the cytomegalovirus. I didn’t ever have it and the blood bank loved me. After years of testing as zero I tested positive after one draw and have ever since. I apparently contracted the virus yet felt nothing, zero, yet there I was.
A lot of people are going to test positive and feel little if any effects, the virus won’t be able to overcome their immune systems. So far it’s the exception rather than the norm that someone with a healthy system and access to good medicine dies.
The news doesn’t seem to be pushing the ‘WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!’ narrative but is still has about 80% of every night’s news being some aspect of the virus with the underlying theme of ‘What We’re All Doing While We ALL WAIT TO DIE’. They need to keep us ‘on edge’ so that we tune in for the latest update and increase their share.
The testing will show who has/has had the virus in his blood on Monday but won’t show if that same person will contract it on Tuesday and we can’t test everyone once a week. We’re going to go thru this period, we’re committed and despite the crap about we’re all going thru it together we’re going thru it individually with, maybe, varying amounts of ‘us’ support but we’re here and we have no choice but to live it; I just wish we could without the help of the media, politicians and every other talking head out there who wants to personally valuize the disease.

I still say we already had it. We might do this when they start offering it to find out for sure.

Sorry if this has been posted, but Nevada’s Democrat Governor has banned the use of anti-malaria drugs. Stating that there’s no consensus among experts or Nevada doctors that the drugs can treat people with COVID-19. I don’t even know what to say.
