Mornin’ Stella!

Good morning, WeeWeed! Let’s all enjoy the respite. Nance and her fascist minions are planning more and more assaults on us and our President. She’s a failure and will keep on failing but that won’t prevent her from trying to blow everything up.
But God is in His heaven and all will be right with the world…

Mornin’ everyone. Yucky day here. Overcast, breezy and cool. Wonderful. 🙂 Oh, and 73* right now.

Mornin’. We have fresh snow this morning, but not too much. 25* though.

It is cool in the apt, but I opened the door and it is warm and humid out. The weatherguessers say it should rain around midnight tonight until morning. 🙄 Maybe. I guess it is cool inside because the air conditioner must have run, or something.

I awoke to a flooded house this morning! We’ve been using a mop and a wetanddry vac all morning, and I notice the rain is not over yet. Ya’ll say a little prayer for this old lady, please.

A stopped up gutter overflowed, filled the space behind the house with water that came over the slab and seeped in flooding half of the house! Thank God for tile floors. I guess I’ll be running the fans for a few days. I’m already worn out, and on radar, looks like more is on the way!
We’ve been under tornado and flood warnings

That’s awful. Try to rest some.

Not so much ‘like’ as ‘we understand your position’. Twice while we lived in NOLA we had the large canal in our backyard overflow during ridiculous rainstorms (one was 22″ in 24 hours) and water came in on the slab in the den. Fans and AC it was…now we live on top of a hill.

😯 What happened? Flood or leak?

Sorry. Stopped reading before I got to your explanation. I hope it doesn’t happen again.

Me too! We are drying out now, but hear thunder in the background. I’m just grateful that DH was here and not at work. We have had an unbelievable amount of rain, all night and all day!
Poor kitty came to me crying like she was in something serious. She was just wet, and wanted to get to the litterbox. The dog gave her a good licking! It sure is nice to see them being pals after 10 years!

Good morning, aus! It’s 35 degrees, snow on the ground and more coming but at the moment it’s just setting up. I’m debating whether to take the trash out…that’s how exciting my day is!
Keep smiling…the sun is still up there…

Storms blew thru last nite, had all of the dogs in the bedroom with one of them and the fat cat in bed with us – they don’t like the thunder and lightning. After all of the thunder, lightning and high winds it only amounted to 8/10ths of an inch of rain but it’s going to be 32 tonite (thanks for the weather, Wee) so the soggy tropicals have to be moved into the garage.

Looks like Nigel Farage DID attend the SOTU
A bullish Nigel Farage proclaimed it ‘looks like we are still winning’ after he watched his friend and ally Donald Trump deliver a divisive State of the Union speech in Washington.
The Brexit Party leader was in attendance at the address to a joint session of the US Congress having celebrated the UK’s departure from the EU last Friday.
Mr Farage is a leading supporter of Mr Trump and is expected to help the US President campaign in the coming months as he seeks re-election to the White House later this year.
He tweeted following the address: ‘Great speech from POTUS, his party united and the Dems looking disconsolate. Looks like we are still winning to me.’

And Steve Bannon hosted a party for him:
As well as taking up a seat at the State of the Union speech, Mr Farage was also reportedly the guest of honour at a plush event hosted by Mr Trump’s former strategy guru Steve Bannon.
The so-called ‘Toast to Nigel Farage’ luncheon at the Washington residence of Mr Bannon was attended by numerous US senators and representatives, according to Politico.

Divisive? It was the most unifying SOTU I’ve ever heard! I hate the media. And I love MY President!

The Chinese doctor who blew the whistle on the coronavirus, Li Wenliang, has died from the coronavirus. Brings all sorts of questions to mind, doesn’t it?
Earlier the feeds out of Asia were reporting that China was pre$$uring the WHO to not declare the coronavirus a pandemic but now the WHO is creeping closer, declaring it a health emergency. I’m also seeing reports on other feeds that the actual number of Chinese deaths is about what numbers the Chinese are reporting the infection itself to be and the actual number of infections is well up into the 6 figures. As Wuhan is closed off and reporting by the WHO is still suspicious there’s no way to tell what the true numbers are. I guarantee there are folks in the Beltway who know but as of now they’re mum.
I’m wondering if they’re waiting for the new vaccine to come out before the true numbers are slowly leaked? I’m thinking that if the full extent of the Chinese levels of infection and death are released so as not to cause a panic? It’s just not making sense between the Chinese tap dancing around the numbers while the WHO is wringing its hands and calling the outbreak everything but what it is. Meanwhile we have the air and sea travel into and out of China are being slowly shut down and nations closing their borders. Ain’t it fun being a serf?

Gonna be a Zetia kina dinner today, cardiologists reading this will be aghast and cueing up the band to play my death song. Sticky Chinese barbeque pork belly and fried rice. Fat, sugar and carbs…all of life’s necessities.

I forgot…beer. Beer mitigates the bad qualities of the fat, sugar and carbs.

There is a little Chinese restaurant only a couple miles from our new place. For just over $20 we get two meals that are about three times the size of most Chinese places and enough rice for about a dozen meals. I’ve eaten off the last one I got three times and I’m going to toss the leftovers in the garbage tonight. Still have rice too. And it is great food.
Even though there are a few tables, you have to take the food home. There’s no heat in there at all. I guess lower power bills are passed on to the consumer in low prices and huge meals. I have never been served so much food at any restaurant.

We have a Vietnamese restaurant we’ve been eating in since 1982 in NOLA. When we first went there all of the menu was printed on blackboards around the ceiling and they were all in Vietnamese. Carl and his wife owned it, Carl met his wife in Vietnam when he was in the Army and his wife’s family owned the
Pho Tau Bay restaurants there. Come the end of the war her family came here and theyu opened the Pho Tau Bay restaurant here. Thing was they opened it primarily for the large Vietnamese community here and hired Vietnamese and their kids exclusively – most spoke little if any English.
Over the decades we watch it grow to where its a trendy tourista and local restaurant downtown and while Carl and his wife are still working it his son’s largely taken over. When we go there we’re welcomed like family taken into the kitchen to see the latest additions and get…generous…portions. It’s changed from the very basic eaterie serving immigrants who were somewhat marginalized to one of the top-tier restaurants in the city. There are a few older Vietnamese and even fewer Vietnam vets eating there but it’s still the same good food.

BTW, I made all of the stuff we ate from scratch. We do have a Chinese restaurant in our Big City (~3200 ) but it’s heavily a rural Mississippi Chinese menu so if we want something different it’s up to me.

OMG The wind is really whipping here. I just walked into the room and looked out to see sky where the top of my 11 ft. dwarf palm tree was supposed to be. Then, it popped back up. That is how hare the wind is blowing. Almost like a hurricane. 😯

My friend is driving back from N. Fla. and they had to get off the Interstate because the car was blowing around so much. The semis were blowing into their lane, too. So, they are taking a back road home that won’t be so exposed and have so much traffic.

Prayers sent…..high wind & semi trucks are not a good combination…

My friend just called. They made it back all right. But, she said even on the side road it was so windy it was hard to keep the car on the road. But, at least they weren’t in among the semis.
Oh, and she just called and asked me if my windows were rattling from the wind. She has been in her house for 45 years and never had them rattle like they are now.
