Data of 267 million Facebook users exposed in an online database
What Happened?
Data security researchers discovered an online database containing the names, phone numbers, and Facebook IDs of 267 million Facebook users available for download on a hacker forum. The database was not password protected and had been posted on December 12th. On December 14th, the researchers contacted the internet service provider that was hosting the database and the database was removed on December 19th.
Although it is unclear why or how the database was created, researchers warn that such information can be used for phishing or spam, especially via SMS.
Facebook users can maintain better control over what profile information is displayed by adjusting their account privacy settings. For example, users can:
Go to Settings & Privacy in Facebook
Click Privacy Shortcuts
Click See more privacy settings
Set all relevant fields to **Friends** or **Only me**
Set **”Do you want search engines outside of Facebook to link to your profile** to **No**

And some people wonder why I never got on to MySpace, Facebook or any other social media platform.
I don’t know if Zuckerberg though of it himself or had help from the government but a lot of Fed folks knew how widely and deeply he was digging into people’s private data, his system could worm its way into your outside business and accounts to know more salable stuff about you than you knew. He can’t give up gathering and compiling personal data on Facebook users as Facebook would go broke. I believe that at some point he’;s going to have to pare back operations sharply or just sell the whole mess off and retire to Tahiti. If the regulators force him to stop much of his personal snooping hius revenue stream will become a trickle. Same with Google.

About 10-11 years ago, I started warning family and friends to exit FB because I knew that many years ago that FB was a nefarious betrayal of privacy and that MZ & Co. were herding sheeple into their commercial and all-controlling coral. It was so plain to see even back then. I hate it a 1000 times more today. You think many listened to me back then? 😣

Seems that in about 2 weeks there’ll be a lot more workers out off work in California. The new law that mandates a minimum wage of $12 for businesses with fewer than 26 employees and$13 for those with more than 26 is causing many small businesses, especially restaurants, to close their doors.
At the same time the Gig law passed to force Uber/Lyft and other app-based companies to give employees a minimum wage and benefits has impacted independent truck drivers and a number of stringers who serve the media. Companies who employ them on as as-needed basis appear to be covered under the Gig law. Some owner/operator wildcat truckers and stringers have already been told ‘sorry, can’t afford to use you until this is straightened out’.
The larger chain fast food companies have been moving to deep employee cuts due to proposed minimum wage hikes. Politicians, being pols and not workers, have zero #$%@&%# idea of how business or technology work. As soon as the Leftish pols started talking min wage hikes to the ridiculous levels they dove right into technology to replace walking meat employees. The tech industry hasa number of non-human interface ordering platforms, some use your voice on your own phone, you don’t even have to type/swipe. Other major businesses kickstarted the ‘dark’ or ‘ghost’ kitchens that will eventually have no employees and Dominos is at the point where autonomous electric delivery vehicles will deliver their pizzas – no more drivers and their associated problems. It’s looking like Dominos, the largest pizza chain now, is looking towards a heavily, if not totally, automated business. Unlike employees you can amortize machinery and associated maintenance is deductible.
You can bet the entire fast food franchise business is looking at an automated future as are all of the other small businesses impacted by idiot pols playing social engineer. I’ve noticed our city mayor and council have sort of shut up about their Democratic pipedream of a highly increased minimum wage for the local service industry. I think the local tourist industry got with them and raised the specter of local tourist eateries and water holes closing, going automated or just not giving to the pols’ election funds. There’s also the nightmare of thousands of the city’s school system output being on the streets, the city not having prepared them for anything else than service jobs. Thing is, the fast food stores are going to convert as soon as corporate comes out with the packages and the associated services-automation industry will be providing them with automated employee-replacement very soon.
Meanwhile the city’s raising property taxes is making the city far too expensive for the lower-pay workers to live in. If they own as home the taxes are getting too high to pay and if they rent a home or apartment the passthrough of the owners’ taxes is making the apartments too expensive. Owners are also leaving the Section 8 program as if they do stay in they can’t pass the increases through so why not just switch to more affluent renters?
Ahhhh…I love it when a Prog plan doesn’t come together.

Years ago, my computer developed a very severe problem and I thought it was all over with it. I took it to the Geek Squad and I believe it took the guy about 10 min to fix it. The problem was an error or something in the Windows update. All he had to do was get the fix off the Internet and install it and charge me $49, or more, for the fix. Now, I would never have known about the problem, or the fix on the Internet, or how to install it, so it was worth the money to me except I was mad at Windows. I keep wondering if that is what is going on now, except the Geek Squad can’t seem to fix it either.

When I was still working in IT, I got a virus that I couldn’t get rid of (long story, but I had an old version of a program that I needed for work which caused the vulnerability). I had Norton antivirus installed, and Norton tried to remove it, but they couldn’t either. It was more or less inactive, but we couldn’t get rid of it. I backed up my data and reformatted my hard drive, then reinstalled all of my software. Not even the pros can fix everything. I had a Windows 7 problem that wouldn’t let my computer do Windows updates. Pros couldn’t fix that one either.

And for Christmas the city of New Orleans gives us the gift that keeps on giving – the Hard Rock Hotel.
Since its collapse in mid-October it’s been one press release after another. At first we were told it would be cleaned up within a few months after the two cranes were felled – the the crane fall failed and we still have the better part of one dangling over the main street in NOLA. On the other hand the same people who screwed the crane drop are telling us that it’s now secured to the building and in o danger of collapse. There is no word as to how they’re going to remove it- they have to remove it before they can even start to destroy the collapsed building – but we’re in no danger.
We are now being told that the cause was the steel pans that each floor was underlaid with were not to spec. The pans, which serve to hold the concrete floors in place as the poured concrete cures, were not the pans the city approved in the plans that were submitted. The submitted plans showed a much more thicker and rigid pan, the ones used were fat less thick and rigid, the weight of the wetb concrete caused them to buckle. Indeed if you look at the pics you can see the unsupported outside ends have all given away, the top floors falling on lower ones and the added weight causing a domino effect.
We’re being bombarded with presson how the contractors are to blame for the whole mess but lost in the noise is a Federal trial going on involving city building inspectors accused of taking bribes to let shoddy construction pass. The city and the local media are desperately trying to decouple the two, saying the inspectors in trial were not connected to the hotel, left unasked/unanswered is the question, though: ‘where were the city inspectors and why didn’t they catch the glaring error?’. Construction workers on the site saw and tweeted their concerns over the switch but again, no one in the city caught it.
We were told the cleanup would be done by Mardi Gras though no one believed that. Now we’re being told it should be done by the end of summer. That means the whole dangling mess will be there over some of the city’s biggest moneymaker parties, just hanging over the main street. It also isa death warrant for those businesses closed due to the public’s inability to enter the restricted area and the rerouting of parades. If we take the end of summer as sometime in September that puts cleanup at halfway thru hurricane season. Left unsaid here is will a court order the mess to stay in place as evidence during the criminal and civil trials working their ways through the courts.
Now the owners of some historic buildings in the area are using the collapse of the Hard Rock to try and get their buildings demolished too, their footprint can be developed into – you guessed it – more hotels, something the historic commissions would have otherwise quashed. The old historical shopping district smack downtown is now becoming a street of modern hotels, no need for residents to go there anymore unless they’re employed ion a minimum wage job at one of the hotels.
We also have the bodies of at least two workers still somewhere in the rubble though by now it’s not bodies but remains. Even if the crane can be removed, which will have to be done before any demo can take place, it will be a while before what’s left of the workers can be found and removed. We’re being told that recovering the remains will be of the highest priority but will the demo crews risk more casualties amongst the unstale and crumbling structure? They aren’t even sure exactly where the remains are – they can’t even say if the site will be torn down to the ground or just the eight-or-so crumbled floors removed, though the latest pronouncement is total demo…but that’s changed a number of times.
So we have a DemocRat run city where we’re mired in a sea of incompetence, politics, corruption and political correctness. The collapse was the coming together of a number of factors just mentioned that have resulted in deaths, damages and an ongoing disaster. Democrats.

This actually is amazing considering…
Decades ago, I worked for CECO, a steel company branch in New Orleans that was largely responsible for the design of the foundation for the Superdome…and also the joists structure of One Shell Square.
I was one of CECO’s draftsmen who helped draw up plans for steel pans, so I know exactly what is what for requirements…down to the little wooden kickers in between. The pans are simply symmetrical, but must be proper thickness and sized to properly engineered specs for weight and stress. A bit of math involved.
Wow! This brings back some serious work memories of this days. CECO’s offices were a block off St.Charles…where you could hear gunshots several times a week. Scary!

The pans in the original plans approved by the city building office (I won’t go into their qualifications) were avery heavy ribbed pan with floor supports as required. The folks doing the building changed, whoever and for whgatevervreasons, to a much lighter pan without the necessary support. During construction the workers multiple times took cell pix of the pans, they recognized the problems, and tweeted nervously about the lightness and the lack of adequate supports. We still don’t know if the city inspectors checked the job and, if they did, how they could miss such a huge, obvious and dangerous to the site. Think putting a large turkey leg on a very lightweight paper plate.
It’s just that whenever the city/state screws up bigtime and lives are lost (think Katrina), we’re at a point where we just roll our eyes and say ‘What do you expect?’.

Uh….um…er….do remember the big screw up in the building of the Superdome?
Somebody, somehow…scratching head thinking how some things are even possible…left out re-bars in the main foundation pillars of the Superdome foundation? How is it even possible to miss such a major thing like that?! 😯

I do remember the city saying the Dome would not be a shelter during Georges and Katrina as no support facilities would be available…you see how that worked out. I’m just glad I ended up at a Westbank site for both.

The price of being a conservative religion.
A disgruntled member of a LDS Church-connected investment group has complained to the IRS that the Church has amasses a$100-billion account thworks. at was supposed to go to pay for charitable works. The complainer says that the Church has deceived its members who donated to the fund, that the Church is keeping the monies in a tax free state to pay for incidentals after the Second Coming of Christ, by keeping the funds and not spending them on charitable work\s it is violating Federal tax laws.
Well now, I never knew that there was a limitation on how long a religious institution could hold tax exempt funds before it needed to spend them, or how much a church-related investment fund could earn over what it spends? Sounds like the complainer, who worked for the investment firm, gots a ax to grind. Let’s see how deeply the IRS wants to dig into a religion that has deep connections in Congress and the rest of the government and more and better lawyers than the IRS does. Let’s see how/if they’ll try to say a religion can’t hold funds for future use.
The government regularly goes after the LDS Church, it’s a favorite target for the DoJ and IRS, especially when there’s a lot of progs/Democrats in power positions. Let’s see if the Left is setting up yet another attack on the tax exempt status of religious groups before the the elections. Beto let the Rat plan out of the bag with his announcement that he was going to push for removing tax exempt status for churches, seems like the swamp may be going after the LDS to set the stage for a general change in religious tax status.

Pentagon screens Saudi military trainees after Pensacola jihad massacre, finds no “current threat”
December 21, 2019 By Robert Spencer
The wording is interesting. No “current threat”? But what about past and future threats? And do Pentagon officials even know what to look for? They’re largely committed to the fantasy that Islam is a religion of peace that has nothing whatsoever to do with terrorism. Did they examine what these trainees have learned in Saudi schools and mosques? Why not? Because Spencer Ackerman would get angry? So how many more people have to die for these fictions?

Shhhhh…Just Let the Democrats Schiff Themselves
By Kurt Schlichter, Posted: Dec 23, 2019
Military guys – and I am a graduate of the Army War College, which is not the one with noted expert on expertise Tom Nichols – try to abide by the apocryphal advice of Napoleon, who counseled that you should never interrupt your enemy while he is making a mistake. But this doesn’t apply to the Democrats because they are not only too dumb to listen to your warnings but their weird dogma actually makes it impossible for them to imagine that they are heading for disaster in 2020. So, I’m going to mock these losers mercilessly, safe in the knowledge that even though I am telling that anime lollipop-looking twerp Adam Schiff and Jerry the Oompa Loompa Nadler exactly what is going to happen, they are powerless to stop it.
