This church holds long-ago memories for me, as it is located on Michigan Avenue in Chicago, in the heart of the Magnificent Mile. To the left of the main building is a courtyard with benches where a friend and I often went to sit and rest and talk. The church, built in 1912, is surrounded by skyscrapers and traffic, much like its neighbor, the Water Tower.
4th Presbyterian is immediately across Michigan Avenue from the John Hancock Center, another favorite of mine. The Hancock has the best cocktail lounge on the 96th floor (the Signature Lounge), which has great panoramic views of the city (even in the ladies’ bathroom, with floor to ceiling windows that look to the Loop).
This video is long, but fascinating. The sights and sounds of the largest pipe organ in Chicago, which is located at 4th Presbyterian.

My Mom made the most delicious deviled eggs with chopped scallions. Those along with her specialty of candied yams with crackly brown sugar, were always the items requested for our extended family Thanksgiving or Christmas gatherings. Beautiful times.

Good morning Lucille! My daughter in law makes unbelievably good deviled eggs. They have bacon crumbles on top and right before serving are drizzled with honey, which I thought I would not like when I saw her do it the first time, but actually is very good. I have no idea what gets mixed in the egg yolks, but it sure is good.

Good day to you, Menagerie. Mom used to put her finished deviled eggs in a plastic container and once arriving at the relative’s house, would put them on her deviled egg plate. One time she decided to put them on the plate to save time. She put the plate in a smallish cardboard box and sat it between her and Dad.
Well, wouldn’t you know, Dad had to slam on the brakes when another car pulled quickly into his lane. That box went flying and ruined the carefully finished eggs. At least the other items she brought were boxed and placed on the back seat floor. She was laughing when she related the story, but said she was NOT a happy camper at the time.

Chicago has magnificent churches, St. Peter’s was one of the first things that led me on my journey to Christianity. I’ll never forget the blanket of peace that I felt walking into that church. It’s so beautiful and austere in its own way, so much white. Every time I have been there its sheer quietness leads me to focused prayer, a lovely place to tune the chaos of this world out.

New CDC/New England Journal of Medicine blurb says that for the first time since the early 20th century more people are dying at home from natural causes than in the hospital. Sure, it’s to *&%$#@ expensive to die at the hospital!

Say a prayer for this young man. I’ve followed his YT channel, Homemade Everything, for several years. He and his family (wife and 2 small children) live in south Texas…parents, married brother and newly married sister and extended family are all Texans and live close by…father, brother and sister all veterinarians.
It’s a bit hard to watch a vid made by someone who is basically dying. But he has a rambling crazy sense of humor and isn’t interested in people feeling sorry for him. He’s pretty matter of fact…however, I think he is kind of heroic and such a dear person

Polls have just closed at 10:00pm UK time. Not confirmed results., but UK media produce (accurate) “Exit Polls”
It’s a HUGE win for Boris and the Tories… humiliating Defeat for Corbyn and his Marxists (Labour)

SADLY… Boris’s deal is NOT BREXIT… as it stands it is STEALTH REMAIN.
There will need to be HUGE changes to the deal if it is done at all. The EU are already announcing the “Transition” will drag on for 3 years.
Also.. if the exit poll results are correct… the SNP have made gains and will be a nuisance in Parliament demanding “Scottish Independence” no matter what topic is up for discussion.

Prior to this election UK Parliament was described as a “Zombie” Parliament.. Boris had a DEFICIT of -45 votes rather than any sort of a majority (even in coalitions with other Parties). It was SILLY!. He could not get any act passed… he even LOST votes to call a new election (requiring 2/3 majority)… and so was held hostage in effect.. not even able to quit.
If the exit poll is correct.. Boris now has a majority of 86.

IMO the Tories are a bit naughty… well… they DID NOT want Farage to gain even a “beach head” in Parliament.
Tories would have had NO CHANCE in this Labour seat..would not have got close to Labour if BXP not running…. but by standing a candidate they blocked BXP winning it (maybe)

They did have a Scottish Independence Referendum in 2014. At the very LEAST I think they should wait a few years to see UK actually Brexit (and flourish)

In simple terms it seems to make sense that some defined region should be able to break away and form their own Country, but that sort of thing effects the “Parent Country” as well as the break-aways. No Country would let parts of their sovereign Country simply break away lightly. There are all sorts of consideration.. economic and “strategic” for instance. In the specific Scottish case… the vote would be split close to 50/50, so half the people would have “Independence” forced on them. There would be a LOT to negotiate…. it would likely be MORE complicated than Brexit.. and take many years.

HARTLEPOOL – was Brexit Party’s best chance of a seat…
Richard Tice (BXP) did show poll numbers of 19% as a peak… but was always a distant 3rd.
Following Hartlepool convinced me that Brexit Party was unlikely to gain any seats.
ANOTHER seat that Boris could have stepped aside to give BXP a chance. AsI have said before I think Boris REALLY did not wat BXP getting even a toe in Parliament… they actually PREFERRED that Labour won such seats.

As things stand, even if Boris deal goes through on 31st January 2020, there is still a year where UK is “in transition” in negotiations with EU for a “Free Trade” deal and unable to negotiate deals outside EU. And even if that can be done by December 2020, the agreement already REQUIRES that UK stay aligned with EU rules, standards, even laws and taxes, and so they will remain UNABLE to negotiate deals with Nations (like USA) that are NOT aligned with EU.
I DO NOT see things working out well at all if Boris sticks to his “Deal”
