It’s been awhile since I’ve been around. I hope everyone is still doing okay.

For awhile we had no internet as a tower was damaged after flooding and storms. During my time away I also was having to care for a family member when the nursing home was closed for a long while due to flooding. That day although now seems like awhile ago was a very hectic day when they called and said they were evacuating the nursing home within the next two hours. What normally is a 45 minute drive, took double that time due to all the road closures. Then the next 3 weeks were a nightmare as they didn’t give all the medicine first, then it was having to go through red tape to get them to agree to give it and meet them to get it, then other prescriptions ran out and had to go through it all again. Thank goodness that is all behind us now.

Then we got so accustomed to not having internet and half the time due to cell towers being damaged we had very spotty cell phone service and internet service on them, which we needed for business e-mail.

About the time things were getting back to normal another storm came through and blew a tree down on our shop, it took 3 days to get the tree cut off of it and then another 3 days to repair all the damage.

Our old house that we had been renting out, we were tired of dealing with renters so we put it back on the market, while it was sitting vacant someone broke in and vandalized it, ripping out all the electrical wiring, including tearing up every wall and the ceilings, they also scrapped the a/c unit, ripped out the toilets, sinks and bathtubs. We’re still fighting with the insurance company on that.

Then in our house we had a plumbing leak and had to tear out the entire kitchen ceiling and replace water pipes and during all of this we still had a business to run and it was getting crazy. and we still had a farm to take care of.

I had already agreed to do some behind the scenes work on our ongoing teacher problem.

We also managed during all of this to get enough wood cut and split to get us through winter.

For the longest time, we were going from daylight until dark and falling asleep as soon as our heads hit the pillow.
Then we all came down with a virus, in my husband’s case turned into bronchitis, in my case turned into pneumonia, we’re finally about to get back to our old selves after that.

Finally after months things are slowing down and getting back to normal. So now I’m trying to catch up with the rest of the world. I did catch all of the impeachment clown show.

Thank you. I was always taught what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.

The good is I think we’re making a little headway with our local GOP party, we’ve managed to educate some of those who lack education on teachers, unions, schools. If our state and local party people weren’t in the pockets of the unions, chamber, abortion complex(pro and those who claim to be anti), etc., we wouldn’t have lost some of the good guys in our past election and wouldn’t have gotten some of the bad guys we got and wouldn’t have kept some of the bad guys that should have been gone. That alone was a battle and we didn’t win it all, but hopefully we got enough good people in the party to make changes.

The main one we wouldn’t have had if it wasn’t for teachers and the GOP is Kendra Horn. We’ve had some good hard working people though who have shown up each time she’s came home. Can’t publicly say how I know, but she cried to Nancy and others that voting for the inquiry was going to make her one and done. She ended up believing them though that they would get her enough money and help that her voters would forget. We’ll see, her poll numbers are almost as bad as Congress approval numbers.

Oh and she enjoys all the wining and dining, democrats and their cronies have been bestowing upon her in D.C., I think it confuses her when she comes home and isn’t as well liked. They do try to help her there as well and try to keep all of them out and surround her with friendly faces, even if most aren’t even Oklahomans, much less voters in her district.

Glad you’re posting again. Was wondering just the other day what had happened to you…no way did I envision so many trials and tribulations. What a lot to endure!

Will say a prayer for you re your having ENOUGH for a good long while. God bless!

And my sweet grandbabies always make everything better, even when they bounce off the walls. lol
Except they aren’t really babies anymore, one will be 5 and the other 3 in just a few short months. They had to show me their Indian hats and turkeys they made the other day during their lesson. My grandson told me all about what he had learned. Gracie told me she learned how to make an Indian hat. lol

Hard to tell, as always. Here in the Willamette Valley there has been frost on the pumpkin and on our roofs – several days this week. Morning temps in the 20s. The high on Thanksgiving Day is expected to be 27 degrees.

Thank God for fireplaces and firewood and furnaces and hot cocoa and sweatshirts and stuff.

And I also am grateful that I am not in Minnesota (or NE Montana!) where they will soon be enjoying that kind of below zero norm that simply HURTS. I clearly remember what that feels like – – – one of the big reasons we knew we needed to get out of MN. That’s no place to grow old in unless you have decades of old, old friends (which we didn’t since we were 28 years in SoCal) or lots of immediate family close around (which we didn’t because they had all died or moved).

Whenever I’m inclined to think an uncharitable thought about Ruth, I remember that she and Antonin Scalia were the best of friends and not only had frequent lunches together but with their respective spouses used to socialize, especially at the opera. Proof that not so very long ago folks could be civil, though political opposites. I rather think that if truth be told it was because Scalia was such a fine Christian gentleman and his judgments were kindly toward others.

Only last night I told a NeverTrumper who was putting out with a bit of blather not to be an ass. So I think my attitude needs some working on to get to the Scalia level.

Interesting that she was originally admitted to a D.C. area hospital, then transferred to Johns Hopkins. Any hospital should be able to treat chills and fever, no?

At her age and condition a hangnail is serious. I think they’re moving out of an abundance of caution and the fear that Trump may get another bite at the SCOTUS apple. She could go on life support and they’d keep her plugged in and breathing until after November 3rd.

GGS and I just left our smalltown Walmart about an hour ago. As we walked in there area outside of the ‘EXIT’ door was roped off withy yellow crime scene tape. As we entered thru the ‘IN’ door we noticed there was blood all over an area about 10 by 15 feet on the concrete in the taped off area. My GGS looked at it and in in a matter-of-fact tone sad: “That’s blood, huh?”. My they grow up so fast.

Sensing a teaching moment I asked him if he could tell anything from the pattern…”nope”. I showed him that the way the blood was thrown down shows a spurting wound more than likely from a cut than a shooting. The way it was laid out showed the vic moved around quite a bit but didn’t leave and while there was a lot of active bleeding there wasn’t much splatter, the blood seemed to flow straight down and wasn’t thrown around.

None of the employees, when asked, ‘knew anything about it’, which was unbelievable so someone in management gave instructions not to talk about it. One employee who is familiar with me did very quietly mention that ‘some guy in a wheelchair defended himself’ but that’s all the employee would say and even then furtively looked around while talking to me. The blue-vested functionary who was ‘guarding’ the taped area, most likely until the hazmat folks could clean it up, knew nothing either.

Knowing that in a smallish town one of the first repositories of gossip is the 24-hour stop-and-rob I stopped in and asked the cashier. She’d heard in passing that a guy in a wheelchair was attacked and stabbed the attacker but that’s it.

What struck me the most, other than my GGS’s blase’ acceptance of the crime scene, was how it brought back old New Orleans memories…on the job, another Saturday night.
