Fall has fallen in the Panhandle. AND winter weather is hanging around to windchill us to death earlier than any year since I’ve been here and that’s four falls so far.
My younger feral male kitty loves to get under the bedspread even on a summer day, but now he’s right down to the sheets…CAT HAIR…I’m sleeping on cat hair!

Low 80s here today with intermittent rain. Talked to my son this AM, it’s about 20 at his house so, in all….
If you room with a cat you sleep in, dress in, breathe in, eat and drink cat hair. Part of the sales agreement I’ve found. I used to keep a roll of masking tape in my truck to remove the hair from my uniform.

Supposedly going to get into the forties here tonight. So far we have not had a single day that hasn’t been shorts weather, and I don’t even wear shorts. I went and got myself a spare pair of pants, just in case.

I think y’all have had cooler weather than we have for a bit. Which seems strange to me, since you are so much further south. Until last week it was sweltering here. Two weeks ago we had three or four days of 100+ weather. This past week has still been in the eighties, warmer than I like but I am happy it isn’t as hot as it was, and also happy it isn’t as cold as I don’t like.
Hotel living ain’t cheap but no power bill. I bet when we finally get in a house instead of open window weather we will get turn on the power sucking heat pump right now weather!

This morning I woke up thinking about the Giuliani situation with the two Ukrainian men who have been arrested and hoping that they have not duped Rudy. Could they be totally corrupt and part of the deep state trying to take down our duly-elected President by telling lies to get on Rudy’s good side?
In one of the many interviews with Giuliani on the Ukraine, at one point he said that those who gave him legal affidavits could be lying but he didn’t think so. If these men he’s relied upon want to get themselves out of their predicament, all they have to do is tell the stories the way the Dem feds want them to in order to impeach President Trump. They have no loyalty and there is every incentive to cooperate with the feds.
Just a thought.

As sort of a roundup on the Turk/Kurd issue I ain’t blaming Trump, he’s inherited this mess from previous presidents and there’s really no way out for him but to fulfill his campaign promise and bring the troops home. This fight’s been going on between the Turks/Kurds for decades and there’s no way we’re going to solve it and the rest of the Mideast wants things to shake out so they can find a new normal.
The PKK and Peshmerga joined to fight ISIS and about a dozen other Kurdish/Turk Separatist have merged with the Pesh/PKK too fight the ISIS but also to dump Erdogan and work toward their autonomy goal. They’re battle-hardened, well-armed by the West and a major threat to Erdogan and Turkey…and they’re right on Turkey’s western border.
Watch for the narrative to shift (maybe) to Turkey attacking the PURM (the combined PKK and other groups mentioned above) if the PKK cover falters. Erdogan is a latter day tinpot despot (there goes my spa holiday in Turkey) andis determined not only to become what Saddam tried to become, the new Mideast Superman, but reestablish a version of the Ottoman Empire, he isn’t going to book interference from anyone inside or outside of Turkey in the process.
The US and NATO are pretty much a loss in the area, right now Russia holds most of the cards as they know what they’re doing there, have a long-term strategy and goal while we change goals and methods seemingly on a monthly basis. They are the experts on how to play the parties there and have a centralized, specialized bureaucracy and leadership while we change players every few years. Our best bet is to adopt their process but in reality our best option is to do what Trump’s doing – get out and let the professional players play this out. It’s going to result in a lot of deaths but that’s just how it is there.

Hate to be repetitive but let’s go back to that Armenian Holocaust ca. 1915 – 1924. The Turks massacred between 1.5 and 2 MILLION Armenian, Assyrian and Greek Christians. Massacred primarily for their being Christian and not thought equal to Turkish Moslems.
The Kurds openly assisted their Ottoman Moslem brothers in the massacre, they are Moslems first and Kurdish 2nd and were they to ever establish this fanciful Kurdistan there’s no reason to believe they’d be any more hospitable or civilized towards non-Moslems now than they were then.
This is Turks killing Turks over political issues, not our concern. Yes we used them for our purposes but they used us too and if they were stupid enough to become our tool without researching what we’ve done to ‘allies’ over our recent past then they’re complicit in what will happen. That doesn’t make it right, just makes it what it is.

Why is it no one mentions the Kurds are a Maoist-Stalinist group who has been aligned with USSR/Russia for decades?
The Kurds use us for our money and military weapons and knowledge.
We actually helped the Kurds rid ISIS from the Kurd’s area. Yet the narrative is always the Kurds helped us and are “loyal allies.”

There’s actually about a dozen different ‘Left to some degree or another’ Kurd groups aligned with the PKK under the PURM acronym of convenience, all with the stated goal of overthrowing the Turkish government. As the PKK had joined with the Peshmerga in fighting ISIS you can see the ‘logical’ leap the Turks can make here.
Trump’s between a rock and a hard place. His best bet is to pull the troops and fulfill his campaign promise to do so. Aside from our staying there into the far future it’s best we just leave and let the Russians take over, they know what they are doing.

From what I understand they were coordinating actions, heavily airstrikes, against ISIS but regardless of the number we don’t want them getting killed or injured if they get caught between the Kurds and the Turks.
Our direct actions are for the most part limited to air strikes and as we aren’t planning on shooting down the F-16s we sold the Turks and won’t otherwise have our F-16s in the air to create a possible incident there’s no need to have our teams on the ground.

Just finished my second eye migraine in two days. Have had them occasionally since the Mid-80’s. Starts with a sparkly silver and blue, sometimes with white or orange, in my central vision, zig-zagged circle which grows outward over about 5-10 minutes until it moves out of my vision. Cannot read while it is there. Despite the word migraine, there is no pain, just the visual effect. When under stress I have had more than one a day (just before I had planned surgery I had as many as seven in a day).

I’m glad you have no pain with those. My mother had them and they were never explained. My son and I both have them, but they just last a while and then go away. We called the the zigzags. Yours sound more intense.

Had a lot of them right before my cataract surgery, and shortly afterward I asked a neurologist I worked with. Both the doctors said they are harmless, indicative of nothing, and are sometimes associated with stress or lack of exposure to sunshine.

LOL “Lack of exposure to sunshine?” We all lived in Florida and Southern California. I know I have connected some of my spells to stress. Did the cataract surgery make any change in your spells?

I spend lots of time outside, and it has been sunny for days here. Stress might apply, since in the week before the cataract surgery I had lots of them, none after it was successfully completed. That’s why it was so easy to discuss with my eye surgeon. Currently, I am under no stress and was outside lots last week.

I was terribly worried over the cataract surgery. When it was finished my vision was pefedt! I think the gereat outcome eliminated the stress. The zig-zags stopped that day.

My friend had the surgery and the new lenses put in and now doesn’t need glasses. She is thrilled. She had it done years ago.
