Posted this around the corner too.
I sat thru ‘Joker’ today with my grandson, he thought it was going to be more Batmanish than it was – general consensus between us was ‘there’s 2 hours and 2 minutes out of our lives wasted we’ll never see again’. Interesting that we were there for the first showing on the 2nd day of run and there was a total of four of us in the theater. The company releasing the movie had forced the theater to devote two of its four screens to Joker for its initial run but in all there were fewer than a dozen viewers, even at prime time on a hot Saturday afternoon.
The movie is a Hollywood social engineering mulligatawny stew that also, as a minor byproduct, creates an alternative timeline for the Batman Joker thru the murder of Bruce Wayne’s parents…almost as an afterthought.
What I noticed as a theme throughout the movie was a somewhat sanitized Antifa/Democratic-Left theme of ‘kill the rich’. OK, you didn’t have too look topo hard, it was right out front from the early-on where Thomas Wayne’s presented as a shady billionaire businessman running for high political office – sound familiar? The denouement features Jokers descent into madness and leadership of a huge mob of masked (Antifa doubles) rioting, looting, burning and generally acting like Young Democrats of America members as they violently protested rich Americans and they were all wearing a particular clown mask. Now I’m not saying Hollyork planned this but it seems that the release timeline coupled with the plot will probably mean we’ll see a lot of ‘eat the rich’ rioting at both conventions next year. If you want to see Joker I’d suggest waiting until it hits Redbox or Netflix, that way you can pause it to go to the head, fetch something to eat/drink or go out and wax your lawn furniture. To me it’s main draw is what I see as the first major release in the 2020 Hollyork Death to Republicans campaign.

It was a teaching session with our GGS. It gives us a chance to see what Hollyork’s putting out and he can ask questions and I can explain what they’re doing in making the film and the messages in it.
I don’t believe in shielding him much, he’s in an urban school anyway and I’m going to ahead of what he sees and hears there.

The main Hollywood template seems to be that only people who stand for traditional values are truly evil.
Through the lens of Hollywood, the satanic, the purely evil, the child predators, mass murderers and violently insane are simple byproducts of being bullied by the those who stand for traditional values.

When I lived in Miami and up the east coast, all I saw was jewelry set in gold. I moved to Utah, and everything was set in silver! It was an epiphany! I went to a jewelry show which had lots of local and amateur jewelers and bought a nice opal ring set in silver. The stones were like nothing I had ever seen. Picture agate was amazing.

I just spent an hour on the back porch reading a new Janet Evanovich novel, enjoying the cool breeze and random nature sounds. Gorgeous morning, with the possibility of a few scttered sprinkles later. TV is promising 40% chance of rain tomorrow morning with a cool front which could make Tuesday morning actually fall-like.

Traditional waffles on Sunday morning with our GGS, he’s been a homemade waffle fan since he could first chew. And it’s plain waffles,no bacon or eggs, just waffles. I fool him by hiding an egg and half-and-half in the waffle and he pretends he doesn’t notice.

it looks funny but that’s a maintenance bay, the aircraft are parked outside and just taken in for maintenance…or if it’s raining and the General doesn’t want to get his shoes wet.
Work on the tail section’s usually done by moving it to a specialized hanger or building scaffolding around it. It’s usually more comfortable to do the maintenance in a hanger if the weather’s a factor and it may be as the aircraft’s tail letters show it’s based at Hickam AFB in Hawaii. There might be rain forecast before repairs are done or the heat/sunlight too much of an issue.
Those hangers were mostly all built like that as there’s a variety of plane types on any base that may need service and new hangers are far more expensive to build than maybe just replacing one door panel or making the hole larger. There’s a type of curtain that snugs up around the fuselage sealing the hole during bad weather so rain/snow stays out.
Probably more than you’d want to know, hope I didn’t ruin the visual but to me that picture was ‘Tuesday’.

Yeah, last night the rain stopped with a razor sharp line 1/2 mile east of us, we didn’t even get a smell of it.

About 2 the sky clouded up and it started to rwin big drops. Czar had just brought in some laundry off the line. It rained for about 5-6 minutes, then eased to a drizzle, couple of claps of thunder, then started up again. All gone now but totaled 3/10 inch in under an hour. We haven’t had any rain in about 3 weeks! Grass and trees really needed it! Temp is now 82 rather than the 92 degrees before it started raining.

Just remembered…
My ex-FIL was a WWII D-Day vet, went over the shore and was found by medics badly (as if there’s a ‘googly’) bayoneted and almost dead. They triaged him to a medic station where they basically wrote him off but when things slowed a doc came by to see who was dead and who wasn’t. They found him breathing, worked on him and he survived to not only retire from the Air Force but also the county sheriff’s department.
When he was in the hospice dying of cancer he’d mentioned in passing that his favorite movie was John Wayne’s ‘She Wore a Yellow Ribbon’. Czarina and I ran all over NOLA trying to find a copy (back in the pre-Amazon and VHS only), bought one sand overnighted it. He didn’t get to see it but he died with it on his nightstand, he was THE John Wayne fan.

John Wayne was Mom’s very fav in the whole wide world. Mom was in her last year (2009), and she, too, wanted John Wayne movies.
Lacking loads of cash, John Wayne movies became my focus in my previous notorious career (torrenting), and there were loads of John Wayne movies available.
All were added to my collection after Mom left.
John Wayne was – still is – the best.

You will note that Wayne wore a gold-colored bracelet on his right wrist, you can see it in every movie he made after the 1968 The Green Berets.
It was presented to him by the Montagnards as a sign of friendship when he made a 6 week trip to Vietnam to thank the troops for serving. He wore it every day of his life after that and the story is he was buried wearing it.
