      LOL! After you mentioned “Poldark” at the end of yesterday’s thread, I looked up the original “Poldark” because I was so crazy about Robin Ellis–never missed an episode and watched the reruns. Sigh! Anyway, here’s some info…


      Robin Ellis as Poldark and Angharad Rees as Demelza

      Checking on Angharad Rees (b. 7/16/44), I found she continued acting but left the industry after a family tragedy, then started a successful jewelry business. She died of pancreatic cancer on July 21, 2012. R.I.P.


      Re Jill Townsend, who played Elizabeth, after one last film subsequent to “Poldark” she left acting and eventually returned to the U.S. She now lives in southern California with her husband and grows produce of various kinds on their farm.

        I loved Robin Ellis as Poldark. I watched that version many, many times. I actually paid for Netflix because I found out it was on there and I had been looking for it for years. I wasn’t too sure about the new Demelza, but I warmed up to her really quickly. And, of course, swooned at the new Poldark. Jack Farthing as George Warleggan was the big surprise to me. I didn’t like him at first (of course, we aren’t supposed to like him) but he can look so aloof and cold. I think he is great in the part because he is such a total, selfish jerk, but has also handled expressing his feelings about Elizabeth in such a way as to make him somewhat sympathetic character, sometimes. LOL

        I haven’t been disappointed about anything about this new series. When I was young, I thought Poldark was the dreamiest. Now that I am older I realize the man would have driven me nuts.

      …and I don’t want to trudge around looking for a good place to eat. I was hoping to visit the Mendenhall Glacier, but that appears out…

      …and rain is in the forecast basically through next Monday. Oh, well, maybe next summer…

      …there’ll be time to spend on the beautiful Mendenhall River.

    Happy Monday everyone. Forecast here is 96,96,97,97 for today through Thursday. Come on fall! I have seen pictures of Glacier County, Montana, and feel like I shouldn’t bitch, but 1) everyone gets a pass on bitching about the weather, 2) tomorrow is October, for goodness sake, and 3) it’s a talent.

    My baby boy is 38 today. Off to spend the day with him. Have a great day.

    Well enjoy the day, my baby boy is 43…oh you know you ain’t young no mo.

    My friend up in the NW corner of Montana got some snow but they’re right up there in snow country and every now and then you get an early/late snowfall. I remember in Utah when there’d be a huge outcry by the public, fed by the news and BBB. If there weren’t enough snow at the resorts by Thanksgiving to support locals and especially tourists, there’d be a call for public rending of clothing. If it did snow and the snow made it into the city it was a disaster, life as we knew it hung in the balance.

    Now the news, weather and sports are all polished, enhanced and dramatized while being made relevant-ish to the local locale. Soon they’ll find a way to personalize it, YOUR plumbing/electrical/yard problems right up there with international disasters for the world to see and sympathize with at noon, six and ten. Oh yeah, and that Victim Impact Statement channel where each victim of the weather can go on in length about how the imperfect weather damaged (pick a gender assignment) personally.

    Enjoy the day, we only get one 38th birthday with each kid.

    Having a cup of coffee while I get the older dogs out for a pottie run before it gets hot. Was watching the NOLA local news and got tired of the usual morning ‘unidentified shooter innercity overnight shooting’ stories so I flipped over to A&E and there was ‘The First 48’. There, in living cable color, was a story on – you may have guessed it – an ‘inner city thug’ murder of a co-worker. Some days ya jes can’t get away from it.

    The wind and snow have stopped….Yea!…..the forecast is calling for possible snow ‘showers’ over the next three days, but for the most part, the major dump of snow is over.

    I talked with the electrical contractor on Friday to get a timeline for completion of the garage and it now appears that perhaps by the end of October, the renovation work will be complete. In the meantime, if it will just warm up a little, I can finish the last of the necessary exterior painting and maybe, get the windows washed before ‘true’ winter sets in.

        I have my desk heater cranked on high Lucille…:0)

        It is a beautiful early afternoon. The skies are a pale blue, the sun is shining and the clouds at the moment are absorbing the white reflection from the snow on the ground and there is not a whisper of movement in the air.

        However, looking to the north, it does look like there is another cloud bank threatening to move in.

        (It’s a good sign that one doesn’t want to work when one finds oneself watching the clouds – guilty….:0)

          Good luck with it, litenmaus! We’ve had nary a hint of the white stuff yet here in south central Alaska. Last year our first snow didn’t fall until December 9th. Been raining here for the better part of a week, but temps are staying between low 40s and high 50s. After our hot, dry summer with a huge nearby forest fire, no one’s complaining. We had 2 beautiful Indian summer days here last week (will the PC police arrest me for saying that?).

            :0) I think that we will very shortly experience a few weeks of Indian summer here as well Tundra.

            The communities around here are dryland farmers and after a dry & hot summer, they too are thrilled with the moisture and have no complaints about a wee storm. :0)

              Yes, it’s toasty around the home and the cats are enjoying it, too.

              Good night, sleep tight. Oh my, I just read yesterday where that phrase came from…something about having to tie the bed ropes securely together before the mattress/boxsprings invention; and sleeping tight meant you wouldn’t fall through to the floor…or some such thing. LOL!

      Maybe it is a good thing, I can get more exterior painting done if we buy a house!
