Got animal control coming out to the farm across the street, they’re bringing some dog traps so that we can catch the semi-feral little dog pack running the area. They’re undoubtedly dogs turned loose out here by their stupid previous owners so we have to catch them and get them to the humane society before they get sick, get shot or the coyotes get them.

Poor babies. Thanks for looking out for them, czar!

Cruelty toward pets is a near-unforgivable sin, in my book. They trust and rely upon humans and some reward them with torturous neglect and abandonment. Sickening and anger-making.

Some people moved into a house across the street from my friend. It is a very small neighborhood. They stayed after the woman who lived their died. Long story. Anyway, they had a pit bull and a chihuahua in a fenced in yard that they could get out of. The pit attacked my friend’s dog and grabbed her by the neck. She survived, we figure, because she had such a thick ruff on her neck that he didn’t get a hold of her. Anyway, it has taken 4 months to get these people (who weren’t supposed to be there) out. And, Animal Control finally came after many, many calls and got the pit. When the people moved they left the chihuahua there with no food or water. And, by the way, the house was trashed. SMH

My friend hates that little dog, but, being an animal lover, is keeping food and water out for the little dog.

Squatters are a particular pain-in-the-a**, there was a campaign about three or four years ago where squatters organized to take over unoccupied houses and apartments illegally. Their being there was trespassing, plain and simple, but the liberal city government treated it as an eviction. Even though the property owner didn’t give them permission to be there and they admitted they were basically there unasked the city decided to treat it like an eviction.

So if you come to your previously vacant rental property and there are squatters they wanted you to give them 5 days notice to vacate. The squatters have those 5 days to move or go to court with the owner to argue why they shouldn’t be evicted, not unusually with a free lawyer from a local law school. The squatter will usually lose but then if they decide to still not move then you have to have the sheriff’s office evict them – you still end up paying. Usually the SO has movers with them who take everything inside of the house that belongs to the squatters and puts it in the area between the sidewalk and the street, it’s up to the property owners to deal with it themselves. If they don’t and it could be argued that the property has monetary value then the law puts the burden on the property owner to safely secure the property…see where this is going?

It’s scary owning property as you don’t really own it, you’re just using it as long as the political jurisdictions above you allow you to and as long as you pay their fees.

Why in the world didn’t Animal Control take the Chihuahua!!!!! They obviously don’t care. Hopefully she can get them to give her a trap to catch the poor little thing. It won’t survive out here on its own, especially not come winter.

Certainly dogs can be rehabed but since it’s been mistreated likely all its life, it will be a rough go without someone who loves it and puts in lots of time. Does your friend know anyone like that who would be willing to take the precious angel once he’s caught?

I don’t know how many dog rescues I’ve been on by myself on the streets of Los Angeles without anything but a leash and some food to make them follow me back home or into a vehicle. The ones I could not catch broke my heart.

They couldn’t catch him when they came out. My friend had told them to come and get her when they came and she would help them. But, they didn’t. She and another neighbor are going to catch the little guy and hold him until they come again. My friend is an animal lover and won’t give up until he is safe.

Back in my leftie days I was at a political rally in Westwood, CA where the Federal Building is. It was for McGovern (LOL! loser that he was). It was a hot day and I noted that one of the cars had a dog in it without the windows down.

I went to the woman running the show and didn’t ask but demanded that they let me make an announcement telling the person to take their dog out of the car. They wouldn’t let me but agreed to make an announcement…which they bolloxed up, and no one went to the car to take care of the dog.

Some of the lefties standing around castigated me for worrying about “such an unimportant thing.” I let the most vocal female have it. I won’t dignify her by calling her a bitch.

Love that photo, Stella! Except for the tiny white chest patch, it looks just like my black lab Gracie–right down to the red collar.
