Watching a program on Nat Geo about ending cash bail for poor offenders – all offenders actually but they’re centering on poor, innercity criminals who can’t afford the bail to get out.

Knowing of numerous violent crimes, including murder, committed by garbage that was out on bail (some even wearing ankle monitoring bracelets) I’m less than eager to see cash bail go bye-bye. Local criminals used bail to get out and kill the witnesses to their crimes so the cases would get thrown out, at least cash bail keeps some in the can.

So far in NOLA we’ve had recommendations of ROR for criminals in NOLA that would make Jack the Ripper deadbolt his doors. “Well yesssss, they may be immoral, violent moral; degenerates but they’re poor and it’s not fair they can’t afford jail.

The nuts are taking control of the nut house.

Maybe this is a side affect of the cultural I grew up in, where we’re supposed to judge people by their intentions rather than reality, but sometimes I feel bad when I realize that if a “victim” had refrained from some stupid behavior, they would not have been a victim. Oh, I guess that’s victim blaming, and I’m not supposed to do that. But what if the victim explicitly put themselves in harm’s way?

I was listening to a podcast yesterday about some journalist decided that the stories she cared about where in war-torn Somali, and she was going to fly to Somalia to cover stories there. You might be able to guess, since she’s a woman in a country plagued by Muslim terrorists, how this is going to end. Did she think her good intentions about being there would protect her? I got that vibe while I was listening, that this was some fool who thought that because she had good intentions those good intentions would protect her.

As it turned out, her good intentions didn’t do jack. She was kidnapped, held hostage, tortured, and raped, and I was like, I saw this coming ten miles away. (Of course, I live in reality, where you’re judged on the outcomes, not the intent.) And they’re interviewing her in this podcast, and of course, she is the victim, was victimized, but I had to turn it off. Like, here’s a thought: maybe Somalia was unsafe and you shouldn’t have gone there.

But I guess I’m not supposed to say that. I feel bad for saying it, even though it is the truth.

All p;art of the process of excusing the crimes of those who are so resistant to being civilized. We incarcerated them…that didn’t work. We tried alleviating the situations that we felt led to these bad behaviors…no luck there either.

We can’t seem to blame folks for their own bad behaviors, no one’s responsible any more, especially members of protected groups. We keep excusing and minimizing their ‘mistakes’ and desperately throwing programs at them to try and drag them into the mainstream. Now we’re saying that it’s our culture’s fault, we try and slam other cultures into ours without properly accommodating ourselves to the differences and the friction causes what we see as crime. There, it’s out fault.

Timothy Treadwell lived with bears, Timothy was mauled to death and eaten by bears.

Pippa Bacca hitch hiked across the Middle East to prove that Muslims weren’t savages. Pippa was raped and murdered.

John Allen Chau tried to convert warrior savages to Christianity. John was killed by the arrows of the Sentinelese.

These people actually aren’t victims, they are advocates and participants in their own deaths.

If you jump off of a skyscraper it’s not the ground that is to blame for your death. It’s the jumper, all of these people jumped in their own arrogant delusional way.

I’m glad I am not the only one who feels that way. It’s one thing if you were unaware of the danger, but to know it’s dangerous and decide to proceed anyway? No, you’re an active participant in whatever happens to you in that case.

But I am a little concerned about the fact that I feel guilty for acknowledging this truth. 🤔 I should not feel guilty for that.

It could be just the humanity in us that makes us feel that little bit even though we realize it wasn’t our decision and we were not responsible for whatever happened.

Perhaps you mistake sorrow with guilt. I cried when I saw the body of Mike Brown because it was such a senseless and sad loss. At some point in time his life, as all are, was full of promise and potential and he lay dead on the ground at a young age because of choices he made.

Just because he made bad choices that ultimately cost him his life does not mean that I cannot recognize that we all lose when something like this happens. In that particular moment of recognition it isn’t about the politics, the lifestyle, or the choices, it is just about a young man among many, gone before his time, and leaving behind repercussions for all of us to face.

I won’t be ashamed that I feel compassion and connection, even when I have sense enough to know that his choices were bad. Very few of us, at least among those on the right, conservatives I know, gloat at the failure, injury, or death of those who walk down the road toward violence and confrontation. Sadly I do not believe many on the left have that feeling of grief for our fellow man.

This is exactly how I feel, I grieve for the loss of humanity, I think we have talked abut our sorrow over Mike Brown, but I don’t feel guilty about recognizing the role that foolish arrogant self absorbed people play in their own demise.

I would not lump Mike Brown in with my three examples, I think he was mentally ill and exhibiting the early signs of schizophrenia. Mike Brown was 100% failed by his parents.

Mike was a pot smoker, pot is a known irritant and enhancer of schizophrenic symptoms. Mike was certainly responsible for his own decisions when his mind was not chemically or organically altered. How responsible he was for chemically altering his mind if he was in the throes of as organic mental breakdown isn’t for me to ponder.

Some folks are deprived of their human dignity from a very young age, I consider Mike one of those individuals.

Many children raised under the same circumstances as Mike escape and thrive in spite of the damage inflicted on them by their parents and community but most do not. That some do, lets us know that freewill is never taken from an individual, but what strength it takes to see a path in the darkness must be phenomenal.

Well, this is interesting. There have been so many changes when all the updates were completed on my computer. There are now programs (I guess) that don’t allow the program to see where you are. I couldn’t get my usual weather page and had to allow it to track me. Welllllllllll……………..very interesting. Now it gives me the weather for Coffeyville, Kansas. And, we were worried that they are always tracking us. They can’t even find me. 🙄

Pretty good Tex….and yourself? I got a few emails from my SIL who lives in Dallas the other day, and she’s having some difficulty adjusting to the weather. To quote….

The weather tries every way possible to kill you. Tornadoes, thunderstorms, hurricane winds, killer hailstorms, flooding- absolutely nuts. If I was from here maybe it would be old hat, but i am only used to intense heat. This is so much drama. Yada yada- stay inside intense lightening. Yada yada- seek shelter now tornado warning.

I’m thinking she’s homesick for Arizona.
