My cousin is currently in the hospital, his language has never been so creative as when he describes the “f****king #%^ *& food”, He’d make George Carlin blush.

Hospital kitchens are a separate entity, they seem to operate in their own universe.
i can remember when my son was in and the nephrologist wrote an order for a super low salt diet and the kitchen kept sending up trays with enough salt in the food (including the little salt packages) to preserve a moose.

Thank you Lucille, he had a beautiful summer, things do not look good right now and it makes it very difficult, he had a taste of life that was good and beautiful all summer and now it is flipped upside down and looking bleak. He is down to 94 pounds.

Yes, it was. But, it was made easier by seeing how lovingly, tenderly, and respectfully, he was being taken care of by his friend and the friends grown children. We only arrived a few days before his death and my father said he was so glad we were able to be there because it made it so much easier to know he was so well taken care of.

That is how I feel about my cousin, his sister is there 24/7 and she fights for him and loves him, allows him his moods without getting angry. It is a blessing.

Glad he had a good summer. It’s so difficult to watch a loved one failing in health. Telling them we love them…that can never be said enough.

I had 4 meals there, and the only good one was this morning’s breakfast. A fake egg omelet with mushrooms and onions, and hash browns.

When my aunt was in the hospital, I was afraid she would starve to death. They gave her broth and green jello. She hated green jello. She would eat the other flavors, but not the green. She didn’t much like the broth, either.

She should check with the hospital, some will let a well-behaved dog in for a short visit or she could get wheeled down to the lobby for a visit.
There are hospitals that go on about the’sanitary’ issues but if you’re on the inside you know that the issue of actually getting the staff to wash their hands between patients is afar greater health issue.

I think I’m going to come out of retirement, move to California and sell shovels to the state legislature so they can more efficiently shovel **** into fans.
There’s anew bill slouching its way through the state legislature that would make businesses employing independent contractors to treat them as employees, meaning better pay, benefits, et cetera. Now businesses hire independent contractors specifically so they DON’T have to treat them as contractors. This saves the business money in dealing with niche business areas and gives the independent contractor benefits too but the state of California thinks it knows better.
The bill is heavily aimed at ride share services like Lyft and Uber but it’s going to nail print newspapers that hire freelance writers and contract delivery services, it will impact all businesses, big and small, that employ any anyone who works as an independent contractor, raising costs as the independents must now be treated as employees. Some businesses, many predict print newspapers will be the first, will be pushed right out of business.
One thing I’m not seeing is something that will hit Amazon, any any other business that employs independent contractors, right square in the mouth – liability. Right now, unless the job being contracted out, is inherently dangerous, the employer is not liable for the actions of these contractors. It looks as if the state’s going to open the door to these contractors now being considered as employees and becoming as liable for their actions as they are for those of their full employees. That’s going to open a whole can of very expensive worms.
Amazon employs thousands of independent contractors delivery drivers for their super fast delivery services and their contract with them specifically states that Amazon assumes no liability for any damages, including deaths, these drivers incur while delivering for Amazon. There have been numbers of injuries and deaths involving these drivers as they have an extremely tight schedule and must rush from delivery to delivery. If Amazon has to treat these folks as employees under this new law you can bet that the lawyers are going to try and make Amazon liable for their actions, making costs rise or making Amazon cut back on delivery services. Other businesses will be hit too but Amazon will be nailed.
You can bet that when business finds a workable, efficient way to function the politicians will find away to screw it up. With most politicians it’s a skill but in California it seems to be an art form.

Might be an idea, shovel the crap as opposed to powerwashing it off the sidewalks. After all, that black citycouncilman in King county, Washington (Seattle) has said that powerwashing is racist as it reminds some people of hoses being turned on protesters at civil rights demonstrations. Gives me a sales edge.

BTW, saw ‘IT’ 2.0 yesterday…what a TOTAL waste of 3 bored ****less hours of my life I’ll never get back. James McAvoy looked like he was playing someone who couldn’t play anyone. McAvoy, after a great performance in Glass, just phoned it in.
As for scaryness, I’ve seen far scarier things in a Greyhound station bathroom.
If you like good FX it has some but you have to slog through 3 hours of ho-hum, a bucket of references to previous King fiolms, a tub full of social; engineering and a cameo with King himself where he makes Stan Lee look like Sir Laurence Olivier.
Save your $$$$ until it comes out on Netflix, then ignore it there too and pat yourself on the back for the money you saved.

To me the early King was genius, I sat down and read The Stand in one extended sitting. At some point he went from writing a genius work every year or so to writing a ‘book’ every two weeks, or so it seemed, with a lesser quality.
Then there was the sale to the movies. The mess they made of his good stuff was bad enough, but this later lesser stuff in their greasy paws…
Sort of makes me think of what would happen were McDonald’s menu get taken by a Nigerian street vendor for a flavor profile redux.

Exactly – and his “kid stories,” you know, Cujo, Pet Semetery, The Shining, It, were all about murdering kids. When mine was about 3-ish. I got un-amused quickly (plus I think that’s when he was on drugs or whatever.)

Hi everybody! I’m home from the hospital, but now busy tracking down the drugs that I need to take TODAY. I’ll tell all later, but my daughter is here with me, and she and my neighbor have been taking care of the pets and the garden, so all is well there.
The really good news is that I don’t have any heart muscle damage, and my cholesterol and blood sugar levels are pretty good. The only bad news is that I now have two stents in my right coronary artery, and I have to take six prescriptions.
For once in my life, I made the right decision and called 911 when it was absolutely necessary, so I got the medical treatment (absolutely excellent) just as soon as possible.
