I was just in the US for a couple of days on business. Yes, the bacon station at the breakfast buffet was my favorite item, followed by the big pan of sausages.

Idiots, as usual, were out on the I-10 tonite, traffic was thicker than fleas on a Kabul cab driver.
My GGS and I were westbound just two miles inside of Louisiana leaving Mississippi and traffic on our side, which had been bumper-to-bumper with 18-wheelers galore, opened up and we got to 65 mph. We were in the left lane looking over the wide median when a small car made a bad move and plowed into a truck. As everyone was one or two car lengths apart doing about 80 in both lanes cars were piling up, or going into the grass on either side, left and right. He got a live view of what I’m constantly telling him about paying complete attention to what’s going on all around you because many others aren’t.
We couldn’t stop, probably wouldn’t do any good anyway, but I was the first to call 911 and as I know my mileposts along that stretch (try calling a tow truck if you don’t) I could give the SO an almost exact location. Just another halt-past-idiot hour on the I-10.

Tk\hanks, but the other side of the interstate, we had our own share of idiots on my side but after years of cop driving and driving on the autobahn I’ve developed that ability to know what most other drivers are going to do just before they do it.
GGS learned a lesson on idiocy first hand though. I’d chided him about being so engrossed in his phone and he’d not put it down for three minutes when he saw the accident. He was looking right sat the two-lane line of idiots bumper-to-bumper at 80 or better when Fool One made the lane change error. All of those eyes-roll-back talks were condensed into 15 seconds of metal crunching reality.

Do any of you gardeners know what it is that I have found. They are weird balls about the size of ping-pong balls. They are tan and I can’t imagine what they are if not a plant. It has crossed my mind they might be spider eggs (shudder), but they are connected by a vine.

I found them under a ceramic cat in the garden. I don’t think they were actually under the dirt.

I looked under “spider eggs” and freaked when I saw the black widow egg pods. 😯 That is a little what they look like, so I went out and got one and tried to smash it and it is solid like a root vegetable, maybe a potato. I don’t think it is spider eggs.

They might be ‘puff mushrooms’ aus. Query ‘images: puff mushrooms’ and see if any of the species look like what you’ve found.

Checked them out. They are very similar to the smooth round ones. I did some more reading on insect galls and I think they are probably pithy or soft inside. But, I think I need to keep them in mind.

After reading litenmaus’ linked article, my first thought was that perhaps you might put them in a glass container and call a local branch of your state’s Department of Agriculture. If it is something dangerous which will destroy crops, the agents would probably like to know.
