Apollo 11 continues its 240,000 mile journey from the earth to the moon. Here’s a look at the LEM (Lunar Exploration Module) broadcast that day.

According to History.com, also on this day, shortly after leaving a party on Chappaquiddick Island, Senator Edward “Ted” Kennedy of Massachusetts drives an Oldsmobile off a wooden bridge into a tide-swept pond. Kennedy escaped the submerged car, but his passenger, 28-year-old Mary Jo Kopechne, did not. The senator did not report the fatal car accident for 10 hours.

    You all are generally in a pretty good mood, and have good, reasoned arguments.

    Is anyone able to explain to me how Pres Trump throwing us to Fake News wolves is a good thing?
    For the life of me, I cannot see the upside to this.
    They are going to continue attacking us even more, relentlessly, for at least the next month. We will be called every name in and out of the book, and Fake News’ retort is going to be “well even Your President denounced you.”

    Do Fake News not attack us enough now as it is? Did Pres Trump really need to give Fake News license to attack us more?
    I just do not get it.

    Some people just don’t know when to shut up. The Corps of Engineers has had the Bonnet Carre spillway open for a record amount of time. It keeps the Mississippi from topping the levees downtown, flooding the and severely disrupting the nation’s economy that relies on the river.

    The spillway dumps millions of gallons a day into Lake Pontchartrain which is usually brackish and changes the lake to a fresher water. The fresh water combined with nutrients in the river causes huge algae blooms that can make parts of the lake mildly toxic and the state recommends avoiding being in the water. We had and still have some blooms but it looks like Barry blew more salt water into the lake, agitated the lake and mitigated some of the blooms.

    Tonite the news here was covering piqued buck-down parents on the north side of the lake. They are vocally miffed that their privileged kids can’t be sailing out on the lake in their yachting classes due to liability paranoia by the yacht instructors. Instructors have tried to compromise by having students manage small one-snowflake craft in large swimming pools, they’ve even had students out building sailboats…common labor! Angry whiners are upset about the blooms, demanding the pols find some other way to dispose of excess water than letting it flow into the lake and parents are demanding refunds as their spawn have been set back in their sail-powered yachting lessons. Oh the horror of it all.

    Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

    Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

    Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.
