    Total rain here from midnight to midnight today was .8 inches, most of it coming after 8 PM as a couple of band remnants passed over. As of the 10 PM news the official rain today in NOLA was .59 inches. We have, possibly, one more day of patchy rain so let’s see what that brings,.

    When I went into Bogalusa yesterday the city folks had bought every drop of gas in every station in town. I guess they were counting on a disaster equal to what the panicmongers were pushing, booze at the Maison d’Chevron was low too, wonder if someone was paying off the media????

        This morning there’s a huge band of solid, heavy rain training over Baton Rouge giving it and the areas way north and south a heavy soaking. There’s about a 90 mile clear gap and then there’s a second band just to our west in Louisiana that is mostly little popcorn cells of rain – nowhere near as bad.

        In all this has been a blessed weekend for most of us, folks hereabout are very hard workers and don’t need what they have Katrina’d again. Despite the rain the churches will be full today.

      Morning lovely! Another great list! The food on the grill looks soooo good! Love the sunflowers! The guys “resting” on the bridge looks terrifying, but they seem completely comfortable up there!

      Allen West lives in a town fairly close to us and rides his motorcycle up our way. He’s recently announced that he is running to head up the GOP in Texas and I think that would be awesome. My husband met him, got a photo with him and book signed at the NRA gathering in Dallas in 2017. They got to talk for a while, because the whole thing was wrapping up and as my husband was heading out of the building he saw Col. West packing up his area, there by himself because most everyone had left the event, and stopped to say hello. They just stood there and chatted for a good while. The entire event was amazing as that’s where my husband met so many big names we see on TV and got to hear our Pres and VP. Special day. 🙂

      I’ve posted before on this a few times next door. Our ability to mobilize our logistics has won us every war from WWII to date – except for Vietnam and Korea where our politicians limited the ground and air forces actions and surrendered before we could win.

      The logistics in Desert Storm were largely ignored by the media but our ability to move thousands of personnel, hundreds of aircraft, all of the armor and associated support personnel in such a short time to bases thousands of miles away is unparallelled. The Russians couldn’t adequately supply their Afghanistan troops and they were right across the border. We were, at one time, supplying combat troops engaged in full-on wars in Afghanistan and Iraq while also supporting our other bases around the world. Right now no one in the world other than us can do that.

      China has spent a huge amount of spy-time studying and copying our logistics system and developing ways to counter it. Right now they’re developing a nuclear defense to us, building up forces to counter an invasion and strengthening their abilities to conduct operations in nearby areas. Their abilities to conduct operation abroad will depend upon their ability to effectively supply those forces abroad. They will keep their logistics abilities as secret as their combat abilities but with their joint commercial/military basings abroad and their unsurpassed shipping abilities on water all they’ll need now is a robust airlift capability and we’re looking at a big, big problem.

      Wonderful enumeration of SMILES, lovely! #5 is my favorite…beautiful sunflowers…and #6 in memory of my friend Will, a film industry camera operator when I met him who I loved as a great pal during the 70s and 80s. We could talk all night on the phone and your #10 would be our close-off; such fun and knowledgeable and sweet and sorta crazy. He counseled me on my boyfriends and I did the same for him with his girls. He went to New York and we eventually lost touch. But the SMILES will be remembered forever.

    Morning all…it’s a beautiful day here. Life has a peculiar way of testing me sometimes and I haven’t posted any pictures or any updates on my renovation as there has been zero work done since my last update. I’m now a month and a half to my ‘drop-dead’ absolute ‘this must be done’ deadline. I’m not sure at the moment that the deadline will be met and I’m not really sure what I’m going to do if it’s not.

    On a high note, I’d like to introduce you all to Ignatz. Whoo boy, Squeaks is not happy about the new kid and he’s spent the last four days making sure I know it.

      Squeaks must be a verrrry sensitive cat! Most of ours have ignored a new kitten, some have taken it on as a “mom project”. I remember Ignatz as a very bad mouse…

        :0) Ignatz loved tormenting Krazy Kat….and yes, that was the thought behind the name.

        Squeaks was a feral czarina and he has been pretty possessive of me since day one. After the last year and half of just the two of us, he’s become fairly aggressive. My hope is that a new companion will help ‘chill’ his attitude a wee bit. However, after the last couple of days, I’m thinkin’ that it might take a little longer than I anticipated for Squeaks to buy into the game plan.

      It takes a while for most new cats to adjust, we have that problem regularly. We just make sure that every room is open so they both have plenty of space, even have separate food bowls so there’s no ‘food fear-food fight’.

      There’s usually a bit of spraying for territorial reason by the dominant cat but we’ve mixed cats and dogs of various ages with each other and never had a problem that wasn’t resolved in a month or so. Might see if dominant cat will sit and take affection from you on one side while new cat’s on the other. It’s somewhat more difficult introducing a new cat into a house with a dominant single cat, especially a kitten that doesn’t have ‘cat manners’ yet and looks to the other cat as a guide.

      It’ll work out, just needs patience, TLC and cleaning solution…and time.

        Thanks czar, I saw a little bit of a break in Squeaks tonight when he let Iggy get about three inches from his tail before he bapped the snot out of the little guy…It’s the first time in four days that Squeaks hasn’t shrieked, hissed and growled when Iggy got within two feet of him, so I think we’re makin’ progress. :0)

          They’re just setting boundaries. Even now the older Fat Thing will push the other two inside cats off the food bowl when he’s hungry while they’ll wait if they’re hungry and he’s eating. Fat Thing has made our bedroom his at night. Every now and then one of the other cats may come in but he’ll chase them right out.

          Hard to think that cats, not being all that much a ‘social’ animal establish rank and boundaries.

      If Ghislaine was willing to procure young girls for rape in order to live the lifestyle of fortune you can bet your last penny that she will sell Epstein down the river to get any deal she can from the Feds. Probably has been granted Use Immunity also lovingly refereed to by the Feds as FU Immunity.
