Back in the radio days, late night and early mornings were my shifts (plus afternoons…). Cat Stevens and the Beatles song from yesterday were my two signature songs in the morning. Everyone knew who was running the station when they heard those two songs.

When the Chicano movement was getting its start in California (1960s), the question and accusation would be: Where do whites get off thinking they have exclusive right to call themselves Americans. There are North, Central and South Americans.
The first time I heard that my answer was: “Yes, it’s true about the various Americas. However, we are the only nation which has America as part of our name. What should we be called? United Stations?” LOL!
