Well, I don’t think “qualify” enters the equation. I figure that her mother is from India and not negro, and her father is at least half white. Thus, 25% is my rough “at most” estimate. Her father admits that he is a descendant of an Irish sugar planter and slave owner.

Ok I was just wondering. I know Native Americans have to “qualify” to be legally part of a Native Nation I just thought maybe there was something like that going on with Kamala that I didn’t understand.
So she is 1/4 black from what we know.

Depends on who’s defining. In the South there were different ways and different laws governing identity. In NOLA the city had the Quadroon Ball system where white males could meet ‘black’ women who were 1/4 black (quadroon) or 1/8th black (octoroon). As they were still considered Negro by the law with even a proven 1/8th black ancestry they couldn’t marry a white man but could enter into a financial relationship where they’d be supported as would any resulting children.
The octoroon ball used to be on the historical tour of NOLA but it seems to have been shunted off into that corner of history inconvenient things that need retelling. The ex-mayor of NOLA, Mitch Landrieu, has long been said to have had a black grandfather, a point he studiously avoided. Now that Harris is making the ‘one drop of blood’ issue political gold I’m betting Mitch regrets it – though as slimy as he is I’m sure he can find as way to whitewash it.

I don’t know, the definitions change so often that you need a playbook.
We had a guy whose parent were Spanish as in ‘directly from Spain’. He was white as a sheet, he was Spanish but as the EEO laws basically couldn’t really define the term Hispanic without causing a raft of problems his Spanish last name made him Hispanic for the Federal program and he took advantage of it.

A nutcase who I have to deal with through work has told me for 2 years that he is Native American. We have had discussions about many things (all of which he is wrong and ignorant about.
When he realizes that he is losing he general says some stupid thing about stolen land or makes some reference to his Native American ancestry.
Well it turns out that he is about 10% Native American.
No Nation would accept him as one their own.
He doesn’t know that I know 😎 and have down for some time.

In the early 70s an edict came down from somewhere in the industry that more “minorities” needed to be cast in films and TV series put out by all production companies. So for each production we had to hand in a list of every person hired that fit their definition of minority.
Thus Lucie Arnaz was considered a minority for one of the series I worked on. LOL! Desi Arnaz may have been Cuban but likely his DNA would have shown he was European with majority Spanish.

I Just ordered those pizzas for my son’s birthday as I sat in my chair in deep southern Mississippi, get on my computer and use my credit card to have 2 pizzas delivered to his house ar 5:30 in Denver.
Think you can do that in Mexico, Guatemala, Syria or Iraq? Ain’t this place wunnerful, despite what so many minority Rats say? Their constituents can do that, even pay with food stamps, and could they do that in their original homes?
