Actually the weather maps are showing this year’s Sahara dust is going to reach/is reaching NOLA and points north. The dust is accounting for a good piece of our high altitude haziness and some will grace us with the rains. So yeah, we’re close enough without being that close.

We used to go to Mt St Michel when we lived in Germany just to see certain tidal events. There was one of those record lows that exposed the shipwrecks around the island waaaaay out into the ocean. A really nice trip.

Of course, A SUMMER PLACE was a melodrama starring Sandra Dee and Troy Donahue.
When looking up Donahue, I discovered that he’d gone to the same military school as Francis Ford Coppola. I always wondered why Coppola cast him in the bit part of Connie Corleone’s boyfriend in GODFATHER II. The character also used Donahue’s real name of Merle Johnson. Apparently it was merely helping out a childhood friend.
