Today is Flag Day!
This day commemorates the adoption of the United States flag on June 14, 1777.
That the Flag of the thirteen United States shall be thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the Union be thirteen stars, white on a blue field, representing a new constellation. This resolution adopted by the Continental Congress on June 14, 1777.
What a beautiful sight to see a field of Flags. I bet many small towns will have great displays!
Enjoy a little bit of Flag and music.

Yeah, Imma gonna have to work up a special thing for the 4th.
Gonna be interesting to see the great July 4th gathering in WDC.
The LSM/MSM will pull out all stops to poo poo it as that is their mission to attempt to destroy genuine love of country and altruistic, patriotic enthusiasm and hope.
Oh well, one more day in the world of media hate and delusion, right?
But we patriots are having none of their…not gonna use the word here….big hint coming…it rhymes with it! 😊
Guess how many dems-liberals-leftists-Alinskyites-progressives are hating National Flag Day…

And a SALUTE! – To you this National Flag Day for your service to it, our nation, and our Constitution!
Btw…love coffee, but I think for today, I’ll be like the Brits and have my cuppa tea spiked with a little bit of fine cognac, please…and thank you!
Have a great day. Col.
PS: My great and wonderful Uncle Bill was a Colonel in the Army as a neurosurgeon. He treated me as a kid for serious rheumatic fever in Wyoming 1959-1960. Being from NOLA, the snow was awesome! Best, damned fine uncle a kid could ever have hoped to have had. And don’t you know, he spoiled me for sure. Paper and silver dollars were the norm from the “tooth fairy.”
He taught me some things about love and duty. One year, he was called upon to assist for people hurt in a train wreck. Now consider…the weather was killing…-55 real temps with a wind chill factor of 80 below. And he went out in that!
His last Army base was Minot, ND…and he couldn’t wait to get outta the cold, retire and move to Macon, Georgia….O! The great memories…sure you have your own!
Again…thank-you for your faithful service!

Yeah, let’s reinstitute the SQT test! I was around long enough to see it used, and discarded, twice. Both times it was canned because not enough takers were passing it, it was flawed because it was ‘disproportionately’ being failed by certain groups and that showed the test was flawed.
For those unfamiliar with the SQT concept, it was a test designed to…well…test a soldier’s knowledge of the basic skills required to operate in a soldier’s job at a given rank. You’d think that a mechanic Sergeant could pass a test of standard and prescribed mechanic skills at a Sergeant level, wouldn’t you? Well far too many at all ranks weren’t so in true Army style they made the decision it was the TEST’S FAULT!

Talk about community pool…remembering the 1960s…Jewish Community Center and their Olympic size pool on St. Charles Ave in NOLA…and coming out one afternoon to see POTUS JFK sitting on the back of that open limousine, red hair and all…being a mere few feet away. What a memory for a 10 year old, starry-eyed kid!

NORD keeps on trying to reopen the public pools here, they were closed for the longest time. It does help keep some thugs off of the street though anything helps.

Well grandma didn’t trust our health to public pools, hence the Jewish Community Center. Do you remember that on St. Charles Ave in the early 60s. I remember the old one…tore it down and built a new one with a humongous l-shape pool…2 low dives and one high dive. At 10, I was good enough at trick diving that one of the instructors wanted to consider me for Olympic diving….my response…nah…I just wanted to have fun and didn’t want to turn it into a slave-training thing. Typical kid who was just havin’ some simple fun…everyday bleeding toe bottoms and all because of so much time on the board.

Sorry, I was in Gerrmany/the military in the 60s. I remember the closed pools in NOLA and the JCC pool having a ‘life goy-ard’. I don’t believe the JCC had a pool, it ha a, ‘Aquatics Department’, fantsy schmantsy.
LikeLiked by 1 person
The JCC had a small pool in the old building, but a very large open pool in the new center…talking 1962-3. JFK passed by in early ’63. The new center was a huge improvement over the old. So you’re prolly about 8-10 yrs ahead of me in years.
I never knew about the NOLA pools. Parents would have never let us swim in a public city pool….for apparant reasons.

Gee, that’s such a fine trade! Actually, I still have a couple of painting tasks inside, and a closet to clean out. So I can keep on going. My concern is wanting to have all of this finished by the 26th which is my appointment with the realtor. He may just have to see the house with the porches yet to be stained.
They aren’t really terrible. It’s just the year the staining is due, and I didn’t get it done in the spring due to the monsoon weather.
Maybe we just need to move into an old folks home. We are both tired of the work.

The question now is whether we want to try to find something else out in the country or try small town living. And exactly where.

We’re 14 miles north of a town with 10-thousand, 14-miles south of one with about 3,000 and about 14 miles east of one with 11,000. We’ve been living out here long enough to where going into the 3000-population town is about as urban as I can take.
We have NOLA when Czarina gets an itch but there’s an amazing theater in the 10K town that carries 1st run, we have Netflix and satellite TV. We have a few good eateries when I get tired of cooking and I have the internet (OK, at a 1998 level) and Amazon so what I need in books, food I can’t find locally, and a lotta other stuff I just get on line.
We have a pretty good hospital 14 miles south, a really good hospital system 45 miles south and a really great complex 75 miles south in NOLA. The county’s contracted with and largely pays for a fully equipped air ambulance that can fly you to the area Level One trauma center 45 miles north or the super trauma center in NOLA. There’s also a ground ambulance system but it’s a bit stressed and stretched so that’s an issue but then we all have trucks so if someone gets needy to load and go, to hell with speed limits. We try to stay healthy.

Goooooood morning kiddies!
Long time, no post. I lurk however. I’m good at lurking. I just posted something for Flag Day and noticed a DEPLORABLE lack of bacon on the breakfast photos, and the caption erroneously states “with extra bacon for ZurichMike”. Extra bacon? There are two measly strips in a sea of disgusting carbs and useless fruit choices.
I hope that Nyet has not been feeding the kiddies at CHAZ because I understand most of them are vegan anyway and planting “gardens” by putting two inches of potting soil on a piece of cardboard and thinking that will be a good idea for a tomato plant. LOL!
Seems I need to do less lurking and more breakfast inspections now.
Let me speak with the manager.
Love,

Flint water decision shows legal complexities of disaster
By DAVID EGGERT, Associated Press – Posted: Jun 14, 2019 / 04:01 PM CDT
LANSING, Mich. (AP) — A surprise decision by Michigan prosecutors to drop all pending charges in the Flint water crisis and restart a three-year investigation is a reminder of the legal complexities surrounding the disaster.
Seven of 15 people had taken plea deals with no jail time, and their records will eventually be scrubbed clean. Eight others saw their charges dismissed Thursday, including two who served in former Gov. Rick Snyder’s Cabinet. Some key questions and answers about the probe:

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
