This is sad. Is it so difficult to stand up for what you believe in? Does it take almost 900 words to placate the parishioners who disagree with President Trump politically? Is it so difficult for Christians to understand that we should all be praying for the leader of our country, whether or not we voted for him?
As the article’s author says:
Prayer is the most fundamental and routine of Christian practices. Christians pray for everyone, especially those who appear to be less than righteous. That is sort of the point.
Moreover, it is standard practice (in the United States at least) for Christians to pray for world leaders during church services. Speaking as a Catholic, I can confirm that nearly every Mass I have attended in my life has included a prayer for the current president, including Trump, Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush, etc.

There is a tweet in the post that has since been deleted. It says “jokes write themselves”. It as a composite of the Trump balloon and one of the people yelling at the pro-Trump man who had a milkshake thrown on him in London. The two pics were something like this:

Re that church pastor who perhaps has not exactly been leading his parishioners in the way they should go regarding praying for those in authority over us…yes, it’s hard to pray for those with whom we disagree. I found it real difficult to pray for Obama and often didn’t. BUT I NEVER HATED HIM NOR WOULD I HAVE OBJECTED IF HE CAME TO A CHURCH SERVICE AND ASKED FOR PRAYER. Would those parishioners find it easier if President Trump and his administration were socialists? I’d wager so.
The citizens of China who are Christians (and there are millions) must find it challenging to pray for those who killed their family members or jailed them for wanting to be free, but they do pray because they know it’s a Scriptural command. The same with Cubans, North Koreans, Venezuelans, Nicaraguans, those Christians trapped in India (Modi is an fervent anti-Christian and would like to ban Christians from being citizens), Pakistan, Turkey, Lebanon, or any of the nations which oppress Christians.
I do also have to say I’m glad that wasn’t my church which acted in such an offensive manner. I also thought the pastor’s letter to his congregation was very condescending toward our President. And shame on him. But then my membership wouldn’t be in a church (and I hope I don’t offend any Stellar) where the pastor wears clothes to a Sunday service which are more fitting for laying sod in his yard.
