Are UFO’s really alien?

I have never taken UFO stories very seriously. I always figured that persons who report seeing UFO’s have misidentified what they see, and that UFO’s are really either natural phenomena or man-made craft.

Most experts still contend that the sightings are nothing more than that, but lately there have been more stories in credible (more or less) news sources like the New York Times and Politico. The Washington Examiner reports:

The New York Times has made waves with a new report on sightings by U.S. Navy aviators of unidentified flying objects between 2014 and 2015. But the UFO issue, which follows a similar 2017 story, is far more interesting than the reporters let on.

The U.S. government does not know what these UFOs actually are. The report focuses on witnesses of so-called “Tic Tacs,” but other shapes and sizes of UFOs have also been credibly recorded by the U.S., British, Chinese, Russian, and other governments for the past 65 years. But what are these strange things?

What surprised me in this story is that there are apparently unidentified objects “swimming” rather than “flying” in our oceans.

A particularly interesting evidentiary point here is the witness testimony by Cmdr. David Fravor during his time as commanding officer for a naval fighter squadron assigned to the Nimitz carrier strike group. In the November 2004 Nimitz incident, Fravor describes seeing both the Tic Tacs and “something in the water… looks like waves are going to crash over the top and you’re going to get this white-water.”

From the New York Times report last week, which is linked in the Washington Examiner article:

The strange objects, one of them like a spinning top moving against the wind, appeared almost daily from the summer of 2014 to March 2015, high in the skies over the East Coast. Navy pilots reported to their superiors that the objects had no visible engine or infrared exhaust plumes, but that they could reach 30,000 feet and hypersonic speeds.

“These things would be out there all day,” said Lt. Ryan Graves, an F/A-18 Super Hornet pilot who has been with the Navy for 10 years, and who reported his sightings to the Pentagon and Congress. “Keeping an aircraft in the air requires a significant amount of energy. With the speeds we observed, 12 hours in the air is 11 hours longer than we’d expect.”

In late 2014, a Super Hornet pilot had a near collision with one of the objects, and an official mishap report was filed. Some of the incidents were videotaped, including one taken by a plane’s camera in early 2015 that shows an object zooming over the ocean waves as pilots question what they are watching.

“Wow, what is that, man?” one exclaims. “Look at it fly!”

The New York Times also reports that a six-part History Channel series, “Unidentified: Inside America’s U.F.O. Investigation,” to air beginning Friday, May 31. [Info HERE]

Re UFO’s in general, a FB friend who lives in Arizona commented,

I don’t know about on the east coast, but out here in the west – especially the desert sightings -are not uncommon. Some people claim it is actually due to Area 51. Who knows. My sister in law was married to a man back in the early ’70s who was a UFO hunter, went on a “hunt” to South America and she never heard from him again, he literally disappeared of the face of the earth. I never met him this happened before ______ and I started dating, I just heard the stories from ______ and his sister before she remarried. She had to wait the 7 years to divorce him. We saw UFO’s here two times. Once on the way home from Havasu [we still lived in CA] – all the cars pulled off the side of I10 to watch, and once at Lake Powell. One crashed on the river by Needles a few years ago, the Las Vegas news stations sent crews to investigate and they came away thinking it was real. An interesting thing about the Needles UFO was after it crashed people who lived along the river watched our military bring in copters to try and recover whatever it was and for weeks they literally had “men in black” going around Needles asking questions.

What do you make of this? I’m really interested to hear what our retired military men have experienced or heard about it.

I believe the only experience I had was in the 70’s when we were driving through Texas after dark. My husband was driving and I commented on how big the moon was. It was about 10 times the normal size of a moon and seemed very near, although now that I think about it, I don’t remember the area being lit up by it like a moon does. When I commented, my husband said there was no moon. And, it was gone. I looked back behind us expecting to maybe see a street light, but there were none. It was out in the desert on a two lane highway in the pitch black. We were both pretty freaked out by it. Months later I read somewhere that most sightings were in this certain area and we were somewhere around that at the time.

I am grateful that you opened this box of worms. Sadly, I believe, none of us can do more than guess. Most of the information that ends up at cocktail parties came from a TV fiction series or SciFi movies. Every imaginable explanation has been imagined, retold, and exploited for money where possible. It seems most likely that they are either a life form that is able to live on this planet and avoid confrontation with humans, or that they come from out there. In any case, IF…HUGE IF…the government does not know what they are, then we have been giving our defense dollars to incompetent fools. It is not credible to think any nation would fail to investigate these things…and by now, someone knows the answer…or we employ idiots.

Despite the Blue Book stalking horse some governments do take UFOs seriously, especially the Chinese and Russians. hinese are really into them at the government level.

Just finished the first episode of a new documentary series on History channel. Seems US gvot. has declassified some ufo videos, which you can see on youtube, and this series interviews military pople who saw the ufos. Kinda good, plays a little info over & over, lots of tease. I am sure the ufos do not belong to any current government on earth, or whomever they are, they would be the only government. Why they are here, why they keep showing themselves and engaging humans, I dunno…
