Democrat politicians – the ones running for President, in particular – are saying that the middle class has been left behind in job creation and tax cuts, but is that true?
The answer is NO! Here are some facts (some of this is thanks to a Fox News compilation):
*Average hourly earnings have grown 3.2 percent over the past year.
* GDP grew by 3.2 percent in the first quarter of 2019.
* Unemployment has been at or below 4 percent for the past 14 months, and the economy has added an average of 218,000 jobs per month over the past year.
* Unemployment for adult women is at 3.1 percent, a 66-year low.
* Unemployment for Hispanics is at 4.2 percent – the lowest rate since this data was first collected in 1973.
* Veteran unemployment is at just 2.3 percent – a 19 year low.
As for tax cuts and leaving the middle class behind, here is the data that prove that Democrats were lying:
* Post tax season, the data show that the average refund was down just $55 from $2,780 to $2,725. This is not significant because –
* Taxpayers made this gap up each two-week paycheck, with the average taxpayer seeing an average of $50 more according to data released by H&R Block.
* In total, H&R Block found that federal taxes were down almost 25 percent for 2018.
And more information about job creation, since Dems (most recently Joe Biden), say that:
“The stock market is roaring. But you don’t feel it,” he said at a rally. “There are — $2 trillion tax cut last year. Did you feel it? Did you get anything from it? Of course not. Of course not.”
Before he was elected, President Trump said:
“If we lower our taxes, remove destructive regulations, unleash the vast treasure of American energy, and negotiate trade deals that put America First, then there is no limit to the number of jobs we can create and the amount of prosperity we can unleash.”
The Wall Street Journal recently reported that the labor market is so tight that manufacturers are “shift scheduling, investing in amenities for workers or offering more flex time, companies believe that treating blue-collar workers more like white-collar counterparts may convince them to sign on or stick around.”
Promises made. Promises kept.

The New Orleans government is pushing really hard to have hiring restrictions for convicted felons lifted. Needless to say there’s mucho pushback from employers as their already too-high insurance would take a really good jump. Then again, it would certainly increase the available labor pool, especially for a lot of ex-politicians.

Never considered the insurance aspect. Great point. Good question to ask Gene Marks to answer. Think i’ll ask, see if Marks answers.
Another good point is what Lucille said downthread, about not passing drug screens. Many small businesses are loosening requirements for the drug screens, although not the ones Lucille mentions.

It’s about liability insurance as well as theft/loss. Many years ago in another state I took my personal vehicle into an unnamed tranny repair shop and, while checking in, I noticed a mechanic there we’d busted working there. He was busted for working in a chop shop.
Let’s say you have your car in to the shop for some work. The car owner frequently gives the car key along with OTHER personal keys to the service manager who gives them to the mech. Even if they owner only gives the car key to the service tech just think about how much personally identifying information is available in your car, especially the console and glove box that don’t lock no mo’. Let’s say that mech learned his trade in prison or was in prison period – you feel comfortable? If your car/house gets stolen/robbed whom do youse think da cops will visit first?
Ya gotta look at recidivism rates too. Bleeding hearts say that the inability to find a job creates high recidivism rates but to me it’s the personal choice of lifestyle. Why work a 40 hour week for $20 an hour when you can sling dope for a few hours a day and make enough tax free $$$ to party the rest of the day? We saw the same folkses time after time, it’s what they know and what they do.
As for drugs, they’re as available in jail as they are on the street.

The media will never sort out the facts and present clear proofs that the Democrats lie. Those of us who take the time to look hard can barely find the information in understandable forms. There actually are a lot of smart people, who, for emotional reasons, find themselves addicted to Rachel Maddow, or NBC, or CNN and they actually DO believe everything they see there. Your words will never reach those poor souls unless all of us share the factual knowledge with the socialist -indoctrinated liberals we know. They cannot help their addiction. I am sure of it. Maybe 2 in 10 of them can comprehend the truth…if we all find ways to get it in front of them, 20% is a big number. THANKS.

A couple of years ago a friend of mine who works in the chemicals industry said most of their new hires were foreign nationals here legally because too many Americans applying had either crime records or could not pass the drug tests which apparently are mandatory in oil, gas, chemical industries. I couldn’t find any stats on that, but assume he knew what he was talking about.

I’ll add that although Joe Biden doesn’t think that the average guy benefits from a roaring stock market, there are a lot of working people with 401K plans and other retirement programs that are very happy with the stock market!
