Lefty reporters think the song “Edelweiss” is a Nazi hymn – or something

This is too good a story not to share. Somehow I missed it on Thursday, and perhaps you did too.

Last week, the Marine Band was playing a medley of tunes in the White House while guests and press were arriving for an event (I don’t know at the moment exactly what event it was.) Apparently, the band played a series of songs from the Sound of Music, and when the song “Edelweiss” was played, the lefty press were triggered, believing that it is a Nazi anthem!

I’m sure all of you are aware, but Edelweiss was written specifically for The Sound of Music, and is sung by Captain Von Trapp on stage at the Folk Music Festival in Salzburg just before he and his family escape the Nazis by climbing over the Alps. It is definitely pro-Austrian and anti-Nazi!

Apparently, the sweet little song from Sound of Music, written by two JEWISH composers, Rodgers & Hammerstein, is also used in a contemporary dystopian television show call The Man in the High Castle, which apparently is about what life would be like today if the Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan had won WWII. Because of this, reporters – including the New York Times’ Maggie Haberman – believed that President Trump was trolling the press. Or something.

Tweets by those who actually know about musical theater prior to the 21st century, and don’t get all of their entertainment from television, were aghast at the ignorance:

This would be funny if it wasn’t so sad, for several reasons. First, ignorance. Second, so much hatred for President Trump that this could even be a thing.

The song appears in the movie twice. Here is the first appearance, and it is so sweet I am posting that video too:

I love that beautiful song, as well as The Sound of Music.
Yes, it is funny and sad that the media had to jump negatively on it! Really shows their ignorance,
doesn’t it. Wonder what excuses they have come up with 🙂

Well, mostly it’s funny because of the ignorance.

It’s also not the Austrian National Anthem, either, though some people have maybe in the past been confused on that point.

As for the MSM, who, given that there are TWO version of the Sound of Music now, really, better to hold your tongue and be considered a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

The Hills Are Alive With the Sound of Nonsense! Of course I’ve never heard of the series which uses the song as their theme.

BTW…”The Sound of Music” score is still under copyright….just looked it up. It falls into public domain in 2055. I’d adore it if the producers didn’t get and pay for permission to use and receive a huge fine for each time they have breached copyright.

Those with mediocre educations come to conclusions to match their stupidity.

Remember when journalists did research? Found out instead of giving immediate reactions!?!? Maybe paid attention to a wide range of information during & after their “education”. Sheesh!

Well, the NYT thought the “Body of Christ” was a statue, so this doesn’t surprise me at all.

Imagine that. “Lefty Reporters” got it wrong. Shouldn’t I add “as usual” to that sentence? While there is no evidence any “propagandists” (they have no “reporters”) on the left have intelligence, what is clear is that they rely largely on the ignorance of the pathetic imbeciles who follow sources like MSNBC, CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC, TIME, NYT, WAPO…etc. Feed fools more fiction and they just get more excited, awash in the exuberance of their stupidity.
