Lots of talk on social media platforms recently about “democracy”, and how establishing the National Popular Vote is a good thing. That it is a good thing to abolish the electoral college system. One guy on Facebook insisted over and over again that a Republic is just a form of democracy. Well, no it isn’t. Did you know that the word “democracy” doesn’t appear in either the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution? Yet pundits and politicians use the term to describe our country over and over again. And civics isn’t taught (or at least it isn’t learned), so a lot of people just don’t know the difference.
There is a reason why our country is called the United STATES of America, not just America. This video does a pretty good job of explaining the basics:

The switch from identifying the U.S. from a republic to a democracy was deliberate.
The Democrat party and the legacy media made the change around the 1980s, for obvious reasons. They all wanted to emphasize the Democrat party, and de-legitimize the Republicans.
They also changed the political party colors. Republicans used to be the blue party, the Democrats were red. Well, remember the communists were The Reds, the evil ones, and Ronald Reagan was evil personified. Even though the Democrats were obviously moving toward socialism/ communism, we all had been taught that both socialism and communism were bad.
So, presto chango poof! All was changed. All was well. Everyone in their proper places.

I’m not sure if this is the best place for this article, but it’s valuable in showing how quickly a once sovereign nation can be destroyed by socialists.
