The day so-far is snowy. It’s going to take a very long time to get rid of these mountains of white. I’ve spent my day dreaming of white sand…like at Shoal Bay, Anguilla….

Morning Wee. So many mothers and fathers who lived back in the day when infant mortality was so much higher would probably have given anything to have their little ones vaccinated instead of watching them die. Today we have it and there are complete morons who choose to endanger their own children and society as a whole.

You can’t tell them that. I saw someone trying to explain to one of them tonight that yes very rarely a child can get encephalitis, but so can a child with a virus and it’s way more common when a child gets measles.
They also think polio was caused by DDT and so there is no reason why they should have ever started vaccinating for polio.

We are getting pounded today. And I have to go pick up Conner and manhandle him into the car. He usually picks just such occasions to show me how strong and obstinate he can be, true to his bloodline. I might bean the kid if I get water down my neck one too many times. 😀 Or maybe use the umbrella to whack his butt.

Mine was being a mouth today and I told him he better watch his attitude or I was going to go get a switch. He asked me what a switch was and when I told him he asked, “Nanny you really wouldn’t hit me with a stick would you? That would make you a really bad, mean Nanny!” I told him he was about to find out just how bad and mean his Nanny could be if he back talked her again. He said, “Nanny I’m sorry, I won’t talk backwards anymore, I don’t want to be hit with a stick.”
I hate to even get onto him, so he has no fears of getting a switching, but it’s alright with me if he thinks he might. 🙂

Good morning, WeeWeed! A whole lot of scare tactics being used on the American public regarding vaccinations. I’ve had both rubella and regular measles. If the vaccinations had been available then, my parents would much rather had me vaccinated than to have endured the awful symptoms of measles and the horrible chicken pox. I sincerely doubt that 1 in 1,000 children dies from having been vaccinated for measles/mumps/rubella/chicken pox like the stats indicate for those going unvaccinated.

Hey, I made your peanut butter fudge this afternoon. I subbed dried cranberries for the raisins. I also didn’t have crunchy peanut butter, BUT I did have salted peanuts in the freezer, so I chopped some fine and added those to the mix.
Thanks for the recipe. It’s delicious! A nice treat, but pretty healthy.

Great. It was a treat to take with you camping. You could put it in a plastic container and just get some out when you needed a snack. I traveled well. My only problem with it was I couldn’t stay out of it. LOL I think the cranberries probably gave it a little extra kick.

Posted a smallpiece next door that drew a bit of interest – FBI reported that hate crimes last year against Moslems dropped 11% while hate crimes against Jews increased 37%. Didn’t hear that one on the nightly news did you?
I’m surprised as it seems anti-Semitic crimes are not being reported as much. I accidentally ran across the case, last month, of an Orthodox Rabbi in NYC who was targeted and severely beaten outside of his synagogue by a Moslem gent who screamed “ALLAH! ALLAH” and “ALL JEWS MUST DIE” as he beat him. When NYPD arrested the assailant they forwarded the usual battery charges but also recommended a ‘hate crime’ charge – the NYC DA’s office refused to add the hate crime charge. Sorta like how the NOLA DA’s office would rather slit its wrists than charge black thugs with a hate crime when they assault a non-black victim under circumstances like the NYC case.

I see a lot about it on Facebook, because a number of my “friends” are Jewish. Some of them have worked in DC or as journalists (the few conservative ones), so it is a common topic on FB.

It’s always been a mystery to me on how Jews deal with their enemies. They despise everything Nazi yet defend Moslems even though both Nazis and Moslems conspired during and well after WWII to wholesale slaughter Jews. I won’t even get into the continued Jewish/Black dynamic even though there’s a growing black anti-Semitic faction.
Their love affair with the Rats has always been another mystery as ir was the Rats who pushed away thousands of Jewish refugees trying to gain safety in the US early in WWII and are now trying to neutralize Israel.

Yeah, had the stats, just didn’t want to overburden the readers with numbers but bottom line is that Jews are in the crosshairs and it’s just like they’re waiting for the Rats to send them letters to say where to report.

That’s true. I just always err on the side of statistics, which are difficult to refute, and save a lot of arguing.

And the stats reflect ONLY reported hate crimes so if a DA’s office or a grand jury refuses to press a hate crime charge it’s not in the statistics.

So I see today is international wymyn’s day. If we’re allegedly still trying to have equality between the sexes, either this special [needs] day has to go or we have to start having an International Men’s Day, too.
I for one am real interested to hear how today is celebrated in places like Iran, India, and Saudi Arabia.

Just talked to the delivery people who will be bringing our new ovens. I wanted to know the dimensions of the shipping container and the bright young thing said: “It’s four feet by 30 inches by 32 inches”. I said that I’d repeat the the figures back to her to make sure I’d transcribed them accurately and said: “4 feet by 30 inches by 32 inches, right?”. “No”, she said, “48 inches by 30 inches by 32 inches”. I said:”Four feet is 48 inches”. There was a silence for a few minutes and she said again “No, 48 inches”. I said: “48 inches is four feet”. Again a few minutes of silence followed by: “Oh yeah, that’s right”.

Reminds me of cutting glass at the Depot. They want the glass just a little smaller than x and 3/8. So I suggest x and 3/16. “No”, they say, irritated, “I said smaller!.” Showing them a ruler or tape measure and 3/8 vs 3/16 convinces about half of them.

IDITAROD UPDATE. We are almost to the end of Iditarod Race Day 4. For the purposes of the race clock, days begin and end at 2 pm Alaska time, the hour when the race started last Sunday. In about 4 hours we will begin Day 5.
Generally speaking, the race has 4 roughly equal sections–each very different from the others: The Alaska Range, over tall mountains with precipitous drops in the trail; The Interior, often a long slog over sparse snow with grassy tussocks everywhere, more banging than gliding; The Yukon, 140 miles on river ice, usually against a killer headwind and deep, deep cold (40-50 degrees below zero); and The Coast, running along and over the Bering Sea with high likelihood of severe winter storms, wind, snow, sleet, hail, open sea water, complete lack of visibility. They don’t call this The Last Great Race for nothing!
This morning finds Nic Petit (Pe-TEE) in the lead with about a 20 mile lead over the second position team, which right now is Jesse Royer. She is a 42-year-old musher from Fairbanks who has 16 previous Iditarod finishes; ten of them were in the top 10 and her best finish was 4th place in 2015. She is always a contender, and this may shape up to be her best year yet. The question is, can she beat Nic or Joar (who right now is 1 mile behind her, in 3rd position). No wait. That was 10 minutes ago. Joar is now a mile ahead of her, in 2nd position, and Jesse is 3rd. Pete Kaiser is 4 miles behind Jesse, and Mitch Seavey is 2 miles behind Pete. Aliy is currently in 11th position and apparently doing well after her 24; she left Iditarod at quarter to 3 am. Here’s the map again:
Another quirk in the race now comes into play: there is a mandatory 8 hour rest anywhere on the Yukon River. Many mushers try to wait to the last checkpoint on the river at Kaltag, but weather plays a huge part in that decision. There will be more leapfrogging in the next 2 days as teams rest early or late.
More from Aliy’s kennel’s blog, with photos:
From last night: http://spkennel.com/2019/03/id-thursday-night-in-iditarod/
And from this morning: http://spkennel.com/2019/03/id-towards-to-the-mighty-yukon/
The Iditarod is full of sub-awards, like the gold nuggets Aliy won for being the first team to the halfway point. There is a First to the Yukon award, which Nic won at 4:23 am this morning when he mushed into Anvik: a gourmet 5 course meal and $3,500. A chef from Anchorage is flown out to cook the meal on a Coleman stove. The amazing culinary concoction is described here:
https://iditarod.com/eye-on-the-trail-petit-wins-lakefront-anchorage-award/
We’re still a looooong way from Nome.
Go Aliy! Go dogs!

Another quick update on Iditarod. We are an hour into Day 5, and Aliy has moved up to 6th position, about where she has been most of the race. She is not having to break trail, as she did on the way to the checkpoint at Iditarod; but she is well positioned to move up quickly as circumstances allow. The first 4 teams are into Grayling: Nic, Joar, Jessie, and Pete. Jessie is only 20 minutes behind Joar and Pete is 20 minutes behind Jesse. It is a tight spread at the moment.
Meanwhile, further back in the pack, Jessica Klejka is maintaining her 36th position and is currently the 3rd rookie. She arrived in the checkpoint at Iditarod about a half hour ago, after a 17-hour run from Ophir. A good long rest is in order.
Go Aliy! Go dogs!

lilbirdee12’s prayer:
Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
