A Brooklyn jury on Tuesday found Mexican kingpin Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman guilty of running a massive, violent trafficking operation that for decades pumped billions of dollars worth of drugs into the U.S.
The drug lord looked stunned as the panel handed down the verdict on its sixth day of deliberations — convicting him on all counts, including operating a continuing criminal enterprise, use of firearms and various charges of conspiracy to import and distribute cocaine, heroin and marijuana.
Dressed in a gray suit, Guzman then looked for his wife, ex-beauty queen Emma Coronel Aispuro, in the gallery — who flashed him a supportive thumbs up as her eyes welled with tears.
The jurors deliberated for almost 35 hours — peppering Brooklyn federal court Judge Brian Cogan with requests to review witness testimony and questions about the charges — and Cogan told the panelists their diligence made him “very proud to be an American.”
Guzman, who twice escaped prison in Mexico, now faces up to life behind bars. He is set to be sentenced on June 25.
“It is a sentence from which there is no escape and no return,” US Attorney Richard Donohue said outside the court.

Does this mean we are to believe all the testimony in the courtroom “on all counts” to be true also?
For example that the DemoKKKrats are in the pockets of the Mexican Drug Cartels?

I wonder if the defense mentioned howe the US aided certain cartel leaders over the last few decades? We aided some cartels in overthrowing other cartels we weren’t happy with. There is a list of reasons the Feds give out as to why they helped these cartels but not one of them passes the ‘sniff test’. You know, like the BS reasons they came up with to justify the entire Fast and Furious fiasco?
I also wonder why El Chapo was busted in the first place, who’d he piss off so badly that the US not only put immense pressure on Mexico to bust a guy we’d most likely helped put in charge in the first place?
Sound far-fetched? Let’s go back to 1989 when the US put 10,000 soldiers down in Panama to bust Noriega. There is no doubt that the US knew Noriega was not only trafficking drugs, was not only money laundering but had connections with unsavory Islamic terror groups in the Mideast and in the Americas. We’d been turning a blind eye to his machinations for a long time as he served our national interests but suddenly the drug running, money laundering and other things we were all right with went ‘poof’ and we dropped the hammer on him.
For whatever reasons we played nice with Mexico and they played nice with us. Chapo, who’d been a major player for years, got a Keystone Cops treatment by Mexico and despite the size of his operation we didn’t invade…even though much of the Mexican government’s feeding from the drug profits trough. Oh to be El Chapo’s biographer.

US prisons, outside of a few high security ones, can be bought so let’s see how it goes. If he goes to Florence he’s sorta screwed.

Hopefully it’s because under President Trump’s leadership, we won’t be doing all those criminal cartel dealings, anymore. I believe they got him, because he brings down many other criminals including here in the U.S., many of whom are in our government.

I was thinking this morning that he might not live long if he starts threatening to out all the people he has been paying protection to.

That’s true. The only way to prevent that, would probably be to keep him in solitary. I’m glad he’s locked up at least.
