YW, sand! It’s 13 degrees and snowing, but I got both my walk and my trash disposal done before the snow started which makes for a great day.

It stopped snowing about two hours ago, but the wind came up and is now whooping over the rooftops, blowing powder all over the place. I have the feeling this is going to be the worst winter since I moved here almost 3 years ago.
The other day a family member who lives on the ranch where I did for a year said their weather was -43C, which is a little over -45F. Ahmmm, no!

Below is a wonderful poem Audrey Hepburn (b. 1929) wrote when asked to share her beauty tips. It was read at her funeral years later (d. 1993)….
For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.
For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.
For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.
For beautiful hair, let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day.
For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.
People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone.
Remember, if you ever need a helping hand,
you will find one at the end of each of your arms.
As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands;
one for helping yourself, and the other for helping others.

She had 5 miscarriages. How sad. I didn’t know that about her.
I am not a celebrity follower and don’t know much about any of them other than their politics and horrible life choices that play out in public. In her pictures Hepburn alway appears to be sad to me.
That said I don’t think I’ve seen a single movie that she was in.

In addition to Stella’s excellent suggestions, I’ll add….
WAIT UNTIL DARK and even though it stars Alan Arkin, it’s not a comedy.
THE NUN’S STORY–fabulous WWII story also starring Peter Finch (who I got an instant crush on after viewing–LOL!).
THE UNFORGIVEN with Burt Lancaster and set on the Texas frontier.
All absolutely quality films with superb acting and writing.

Welcome to Stella’s Place. Don’t be too hard on Sundance. Seven days a week since 2011 (CTH just passed it’s 8th anniversary on February 1!) is a lot to expect of anybody.

I was merely passing along an observation, and apologize if it came across as a criticism. SD’s work ethic is phenomenal. He’s back at it, and I hope all is well. If it were just a day off, I personally think he is due more than one every 8 years!
Even during his absence, it was most impressive to see the activity on the Daily’s. I thought Treepers would love Lucille’s public service message, but don’t want to share without her consent.

Many years ago I had a wonderful friend who did just that! She had found a piano, ownderfulfurniture, rugs, lamps, dog houses, and beds for her cats… and she gave great gifts. I was reading and putting together information about Ocasio and forgot about the list of ten 🙃. I hope this one is a happy one even though I didn’t dedicate my usual amount of time to it.
1)
No words.
2) Museum of the Dog is a fun, fitting tribute to man’s best friend
https://nypost.com/2019/02/08/museum-of-the-dog-is-a-fun-fitting-tribute-to-mans-best-friend/
If you’ve ever wondered what kind of dog you are, well, there’s a museum for that.
The Museum of the Dog, from the American Kennel Club, opened Friday a couple of blocks south of Grand Central, after relocating from St. Louis, Missouri. Its 11,000-square-foot gallery is filled with pooch-centric paintings, sculptures, photos and artifacts, some going back centuries.
3) L Lin Wood is not letting Nathan Phillips slide. Finally we are taking on the protected classes. Amen.
While it is true that civil lawsuits are about money damages (1) for injury done & (2) to punish and deter, they also reveal the truth. The sworn deposition testimony of Nathan Phillips will prove invaluable in obtaining justice for Nick Sandmann. And it will be one of many. L Lin Wood
4) Ocasio-Cortez is asked about the sex assault allegations against Virginia Democrat Justin Fairfax, she responds by saying she doesn’t know anything about it.
When Kavanaugh was accused, AOC was on it in under 24 hours.
Fairfax allegation has been out for a week, AOC won’t comment.__Ryan Saavedra
Hypocrisy thy name is democrat.
5) Sacred childhood, lived, breathed, felt, touched, experienced, awakened, shared, giggled, not lost in a screen.
https://i.imgur.com/8VUr72h.jpg
6 ) The New Green Deal was so ludicrously bizarre that Team Ocasio has come out and said that it was a “doctored document”. Unfortunately for team Ocasio the original posting of the document has been preserved as has the FAQ document and the documents read exactly as its critics say they read.
Like Obama, Ocasio is missing the shame gene, so she is unaware of how bad this makes her look.
😑
7) Are we up to what? 40 democrat candidates for the 2020 race? Each one more of a corrupt lunatic than the last one. 2019/2020 is going to be the year of civil war in the democrat party. They are fighting for the heart of the devil.
8) Photographer Herbert van der Beek captures rare moment Jaguar dives to catch food .
9) Attorney Robert Barnes appears to be putting together a team of attorneys who will work to combat the defamation that is faced by conservative people on social media on a daily basis.
10) I think it is very important for the Democrats to press forward with their Green New Deal. It would be great for the so-called “Carbon Footprint” to permanently eliminate all Planes, Cars, Cows, Oil, Gas & the Military – even if no other country would do the same. Brilliant!__President Trump

It seems Saikat Chakrabarti is the author of the New Green Deal (no surprise).
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is an empty vessel. She is a shape shifter and will be whatever she needs to be to advance herself under the tutelage of Chakrabarti.
If you want to understand how dangerous a vapid socialist is just read this article. When the Justice Democrats saw who Ocasio is they converted almost all of their resources to her campaign. Of the 12 Justice Democrat candidates Ocasio is the only one who won. The Justice Democrats are working solely to tip tip the scale in favor of socialism being the predominant doctrine in American.
“There Is Going to Be a War Within the Party. We are Going to Lean into It.”
The Justice Democrats helped get Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez elected. Who are they after next?

Ocasio on her own says things like “The Three Chambers of Congress,” and “Unemployment is low because everyone has 2 jobs.”
Sound familiar?
My Muslim faith.
57 States.
Watch Ocasio on script. Also notice that while her main target is President Trump that Ocasio is attacking the system. Both democrats and republicans.
Remember the old guard democrats were against Obama until they were for Obama.
Netflix pays whopping $10 million for documentary about Ocasio-Cortez’s political campaign
https://www.theblaze.com/news/netflix-alexandria-ocasio-cortez-documentary
Netflix has paid a record-breaking $10 million for rights to a Sundance Film Festival documentary about Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-N.Y.), the Daily Mail.
Even Obama did not have this buzz around him this early in his political game.
And keep in mind that Ocasio is dumb. In the traditional sense of the word, she speaks while uniformed and ill-informed with the certainty of her malformed convictions.
But Ocasio is cagey street fighter. When asked what she thought of Nancy Pelosi saying that The New Green Deal was a “Green Dream” Ocasio smiled and said “It is a dream, it is a green dream.” there really was not a better answer than the one Ocasio gave to the reporter.
Remember Ocasio has been a waitress or bartender for years she has honed her people reading skills and has paid her bills by pleasing people who can do things for her.
Ocasio is charismatic, attractive, shape shifter.

A lovely way for young people to start their charity giving. Many already do this year-round. Friends of mine not only go through their personal possessions but also weekly have the night before trash day mapped out in their areas and dumpster dive for charity 365. Nothing of use ever gets thrown out…plus they collect bottles and cans which go to a cancer research charity.
When a child I often purchased items from the local charity thrift shops with the money given to me by grandparents, aunts and uncles at our Thanksgiving or Christmas gatherings . It was thrilling to be able to buy something really nice, though not new, or just interesting–National Geographic magazines from the 1920s-50s were a special favorite (and I still have a few tucked away which bring back great memories…and the ads are wonderful).
Americans have always thought of others and been charitable this way.

One time they found newly cleaned U.S. Navy white uniforms still in their plastic cleaners bags just thrown in the dumpster. That was a puzzle.
Many times people would lean framed posters or mirrors against the chainlink fences or stack boxes of smaller things perhaps hoping someone would come along and take them. You’d be surprised what perfectly usable items people just chuck out. Big articles were usually located at the end of the month when people would be downsizing due to moving out of their apartments.
I used to help my friends set up and sell the goods at their “yard sales” held at various service club facilities. That was fun.

Today Elizabeth Warren, sometimes referred to by me as Pocahontas, joined the race for President. Will she run as our first Native American presidential candidate, or has she decided that after 32 years, this is not playing so well anymore? See you on the campaign TRAIL, Liz! __President Trump
Why did President Trump put TRAIL in all capitals.
Because President Trump almost always tips his hand before he strikes.
Breitbart News first reported in 2012 that Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s (D-MA) great-great-great grandfather Jonathan Crawford was a member of the Tennessee Militia that rounded up Cherokees living there at the time for the Trail of Tears journey to Oklahoma in the 1830s.

The Great Iggy: -The NY Post reported that a man who brutally murdered his pregnant girlfriend, repeatedly stabbing the infant, had the charges dropped for the infants homicide because of Cuomo’s new law.–
Stop and think about that for a minute.
Now not only does the mother have control of “her own body”, but apparently a boyfriend, or some violent stranger, can come along, stab a woman and kill the baby presumably even on the way to the delivery room and the mother who wanted her new little son or daughter apparently will receive no legal relief for having her child murdered. Nor will her husband or family and, most importantly, the child himself.
Is there some way for NY Dems to correct this obviously insane consequence? Does the baby magically become a human being with rights if it is a third party killing it rather than mom? They can never admit that, because even a toadstool, or Joe Biden, can recognize the irrationality of that. If it is magically a human being when a stranger kills it, clearly it is a human being when mom does too, and so as pro lifers have always maintained abortion is simply a legalized form of slavery and ownership of another human being.

Good evening ladies and gentlymen.
Hope your weekend was Great.
Spent a marvelous afternoon listening to a conversation between Camille Paglia and Jordan Peterson from 2 Oct 2017 entitled “Modern Times, Camille Paglia & Jordan B Peterson.”
The conversation started out as a debate, with the potential for descending into verbal warfare.
Peterson was obviously initially wary and reserved, with Paglia her usual combative self. It did not take long before both realized they were saying the same thing, using different words and different points of view.
An enjoyable hour and 45 minutes later, with much enthusiasm, gestures, wonderful verbiage, and body language, the two ended the conversation, laughing, as friends.
They spoke of everything, from biology to research to psychology to classics to arts to history to Marxists in education and culture (Paglia genuinely and unashamedly HATES these people), and everything in between.
If you’ve an extra couple of hours, spend it with these two. Better than a great professor lecturing on a favorite subject.

My friend did her taxes today and is totally outraged. She usually gets money back and this year will have to pay another $500. She did get some extra income which put her into the next tax bracket which is the problem. But, she called to warn me. I have no idea, but I am afraid because I also had more income this year, which won’t happen again, but I hope it doesn’t put me int the next bracket. 😦 She talked to a tax preparer who said a lot of people are complaining.

Wasn’t the tax change to put more money in your pocket immediately by taking less tax from your earnings each pay period? That means the govenment doesn’t get to hold on to your money all year then give the extra portion back when you file your taxes -having had it as an interest free loan for the year. So your refund is less, or what you pay is more.

I know this year was the first one in a long time that I took the standard deduction rather than itemizing, because the standard deduction is much higher than it was. I got a little bitty (very bitty) refund, but that’s okay because I had very little taxable income.

Yahoo!! Nineteen days and change until the start of the 46th Iditarod! Alaska’s official state sport of dog mushing’s premier event. As always, I’ll be pulling for my friends, Aliy Zirkle and her husband Alan Moore. Alan is currently in 2nd place near the end of the other big 1,000-mile sled dog race, The Yukon Quest. He’s an hour behind the leader with only 114 miles left to go; without a big weather event or a misstep by the team ahead of him, that’s a bigger gap than can be overcome. Aliy ran the shorter version, the Yukon Quest 300–and won! For the Quest(s), Alan runs the “A” team and Aliy runs the “B” team. For the Iditarod, they switch, and many of the dogs will run both races. Aliy winning with the B team tells me that all their dogs are in great shape this year. Maybe 2019 will be Aliy’s year to win Iditarod. Go Aliy!!
And on more of a debbie downer note, my blood rose to a near boil when I saw this article earlier:
