-42F without windchill at Drummond Island Mi this morning 1/26. Then when it gets up to 0F it feels downright balmy!

My network of folks in the EUP relayed to me: -42 Drummond Island (see pic). -39 5 miles east of Pickford. -37 in Barbeau. -36 Sugar Island. -32 Dafter. -28 Rudyard!

    I remember when we lived in Upstate NY, it got down to -30* and my in-laws just told me to keep my son inside until the temp went up.

    Now that’s dang cold, right there. I’ve been at -42 degrees, and it is not a friendly place. And yes, when it warms up to zero, everyone breaks out the T-shirts and flip flops ’cause it feels so hot. I’m not sure if Jack Daniels will freeze at -40; I know it does at -60.
