Good morning Lucille 🙂 . what am I up to? Watching it snow and waiting for daylight and a little warm up to start shoveling and snow blowing 😏. It looks like really light snow and maybe 5 inches is not too bad.

Morning lovely! I woke up to a verrrrryyyy rare weather phenomenon for North Texas! Snow! It only snowed for a few hours and it was over 50 here yesterday, so it won’t last long, but I was glad we got a little. It will probably be the only time this winter that we get any.

I am feeling a little too toasty to get out there and shovel 🙂 . I’m in no rush I’m going to let it warm up a bit ….well scratch that…..it is 16° and our high is only going to be 19° 😏.

We’re expecting a heat wave compared to your anticipated high lovely. 2 degrees here at the moment, but the forecast says we should reach a high of 36. It won’t melt off the 4 inches of snow we received Thurs/Friday but as long as the temp stays above 0, I’ll try not to complain. :0)

Stay toasty! Now that the shoveling is done I am in for the day. My dog gave me the “Are you kidding me look” when I opened the backdoor for her to go out this morning 🙂 .
It wasn’t too bad shoveling I wore a coat I bought last year at a clearance sale and other than my ears I was toasty. (Yes I was too lazy to go back inside and get my scarf or earmuffs) 😏.

That is completely true Lucille. Going in to get earmuffs or a scarf would mean; Stopping. Going inside. Taking off my boots. Going into my bedroom. Getting head gear. Putting on headgear. Putting my boots back on. And then resuming shoveling.

Tucker likes the snow, as did Stella and my dog before her (Sassy). Tucker doesn’t like wet or muddy feet.

My dog has never liked the snow, she walks on it like she is stepping into something gross. I noticed last year and now this year she does not seem as miffed by walking in snow, I think it is because she is getting old and kind of unaware of certain things 😦 .

It’s snowing here. Only an inch or so, at least so far.

Solid 5 inches here but pretty lightweight snow so it wasn’t bad. Plow has been through twice so it shouldn’t be too bad when he comes through again, usually I have to go out and re-shovel the driveway entrance.

I only do the porch and front steps. My neighbor does the walk and drive, if needed.

I have a snow blower. And two shovels. My big problem is that there is no place to put the snow in the drive from the back of the house up to the front sidewalk, because my driveway joins my neighbor’s driveway, and our houses butt up to the drives. Forward of my house, there are bushes along the drive on my side, so you can’t put snow there. You have to either carry the snow away, or you snow blow down the drive until you get to somewhere to place the snow. The other side of the bushes is my front walk, then the lawn. Usually my neighbor shoots the snow through the bushes onto the walk. People can walk up the drive and gain access to the steps and porch that way.

Understood. My most awkward area is the garage, house driveway corner. I have the same problem s you as to where to go with the snow. I usually blow it on my lawn and the neighbors then shovel the area that is hard to find a place to toss the snow.

1-3″ here might involve calling in the National Guard. Schools would be closed for days for real, wrecks would litter the streets, and there would probably not be bread or milk to be found in stores as far south as Atlanta. Mobile if we hit above 3″. Rough living. 😀

nope. for whatever reason, the er doc didn’t want to give me one; said going the nasaid/therapy route should be first. easy for him to say.
the entire arm/clavicle/shoulder blade and left neck is involved now and my wrist feels like someone is trying to cut it off. i’m in-taking more advil than food. who knows, with our doctor shortage, how many days i’ll have to live this way until therapy can start…had to put in a request through my primary care doc to get therapy approval from my insurance. i’ve been doing one er-instructed exercise which is moving the arm in a circular motion, to the right and then to the left, while pointed toward the floor.
on monday i’ll call my regular doc and plead with him for a shot…hopefully he’s got experience with such a procedure on the shoulder. if not, i’ll have to put in another authorization request to see a specialist.
the advantage of living in a big city where you can get a same-day appointment easily cannot be overestimated. being independently wealthy would be nice, too. lol.

insurance requires that every appt. with any doctor must be approved by my primary care doc putting through a request. if i had the money, i’d just go to whatever doctor outside my insurance list that was available first. alas, funds are limited…as are doctors, as i mentioned elsewhere.

taint good. the first couple hours after taking advil is good. but they can’t be taken just because it starts to wear off, but i must wait 4-6 hours between doses.
gives me renewed respect for our military or anyone who has lost an arm and haven’t been fitted yet for a prosthetic. god bless them.

oh, sorry but i failed to mention that i must put ice packs on the shoulder. doesn’t seem to do much once the time is up…and i have the elbow and wrist which are very affected also which must be packed. so annoying.

Where she sees that Barr is uncomfortable and maybe worries about something being exposed, I see as a disdain for all the babbling of the committee.

Oh, good point. That works. My overall impression of Barr is that he is a man who wants to get the job done. And, he knows this hearing is going to be a lot of posturing. I think he has little patience for that.

I’m seeing a guy who knew he’d be hit by buckets of partisan political BS, prepared for being hit by buckets of partisan political BS and is repressing his natural reaction to being hit by the expected buckets of partisan political BS. Yup, I’m seeing repressed irritation with disdain frosting, letting them know without saying just how disgusted he is of them and the process.

This is what I posted about him yesterday.
The Honorable William Barr simultaneously treats the Left elites with disdain and affability a close to unbeatable strategy.
I agree with her assessment of Barr being reserved and not acting chummy with colleagues. I like that.
I would have looked much like Barr while Feinstein was yammering. I despise Feinstein and her hypocrisy.
I thought her analysis about “friend” was off. Was Feinstein reading from Barr’s statement when she said “You said even though you have been friends” (with Bob Mueller) ?
If Feinstein was reading from Barr’s statement then Feinstein’s meaning of friend is irrelevant, and the interpreter is “reading” Barr’s reaction to hoe he described his own relationship with bob Mueller. would have been reacting to his own words. It seems pretty reasonable to me that Barr was using “friend” as a person who ran in his professional circles and who he crossed paths with during that time and possibly some social occasion also but the social occasions would have involved colleagues.
As to Lindsey and Feinstein, I thought Lindsey was uncomfortable facing Barr, I do believe Lindsey’s reaction to how Kavanaugh was treated was genuine and that is why I think Lindsey was turned slightly away from Barr at first.
Note that Lindsey does not respond to Feinstein touching him.He ignores her. Lindsey is also using his arm as a protector or shield between him and Diane Feinstein (as she states) but we read the wholeness of that scenario very differently.
I totally understand her distrust of Lindsey.
This body language expert (I forget her name ) is very enjoyable but also in my opinion very prone to confirmation bias. I have watched several of her videos and I think she is generally close to the truth but she does a bit too much editorializing to be taken too seriously for me, even though I agree with her opinions of most people and her analysis.

I thought the good part was when Blumenthal was speaking and Barr had a look on his face like he had absolutely no respect for what he was saying. Almost like he thought Blumenthal was nuts.

I was just about to comment that I am pleased that she has a womanly shape – unlike most of the skinny minnies who have such low body fat that they don’t have periods.

What a cutie.
Not wanting to be great reminded me of Michael Jordan.
He said the problem with being great is it takes the joy out of “being”. The first championship he played to win, he said he was full of joy as he played, it was wonderful and exciting. Winning was exhilarating.
The second championship he played not to lose because “great people” don’t lose and it was stressful not joyful. Winning was a relief. He felt the same way about subsequent championships in the NBA.
How sad.
I think being great becomes a huge burden for some people, Tiger Woods comes to mind. Others they do not let their greatness in one area of life deceive them into believing that they are “great,” Roger Federer comes to mind.

Many beautiful little towns in that area, and the mountain jeep tracks are magnificent. The area between Telluride and Ouray (actually between Imogene Pass and Ouray) is called the Switzerland of North America. The wildflowers are spectacular! Look up Yankee Boy Basin.

You can rent a jeep yourself, but most people take guided jeep tours with a pro driver. That’s what I recommend.

Imogene Pass is over 13,000 feet elevation. If you have breathing problems, it’s not recommended. Beautiful, though. When the flowers are blooming in July/August, it’s spectacular in the valleys.

A significant reason why a smart TV, or perhaps a new 65-inch 4K smart TV with HDR capability, can be purchased for about $500, is because some manufacturers are harvesting data from users.
Vizio’s Chief Technology Officer, Bill Baxter, outlined the strategy to The Verge during the Consumer Electronics Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada last Monday.
“This is a cutthroat industry. It’s a 6% margin industry,” Baxter said. “The greater strategy is I really don’t need to make money off of the TV. I need to cover my cost.”
More specifically, electronic manufacturers like Vizio have figured out that they can sell smart TVs at, or around cost, and concentrate on data harvesting and post-purchase monetization.
As Baxter put it: “It’s not just about data collection. It’s about post-purchase monetization of the TV.”
He explained there are several ways to monetize smart TVs: “You sell some movies, you sell some TV shows, you sell some ads, you know.”
Baxter said, without the additional forms of revenue, consumers would be paying higher premiums for smart TVs. “We’d collect a little bit more margin at retail to offset it.”

Vizio TVs, have the ability, with user opt-in, track anything that is on the TV, what the company calls “automatic content recognition.” That data used to be sold off to third-party data aggregators, but after the Federal Trade Commission and New Jersey slapped the company with a multi-million dollar fine in 2017.
Legal documents from the case reportedly show that Vizio installed software on 11 million smart TVs to track viewing habits without consumers’ knowledge.
Now, Vizio keeps the data but sells targeted advertising in a platform model like Google and Facebook.
So you must be wondering how much data is Vizio collecting from smart TVs?
Well, the Verge’s editor-in-chief, Nilay Patel, tweeted that a connected VIZIO P-Series Class 4K HDR Smart TV pings a server over 500,000 times a week or nearly once every second, much more than the typical device.
