I don’t know who invented the “whammy bar” for the electric guitar, but Joe knows how to use it.
Bonamassa’s version of “O Holy Night” is sublime on the electric. The invention is just a lever that allows the guitarist to stretch the strings, all at once (when he or she isn’t doing it string-by-string with their fingers), and as Satriani and Vai can attest, it’s a really cool invention. Joe Bonamassa is a really cool invention, too. Satriani and Vai would agree — he’s their evolution.

Once again, the vicissitudes of weather. The tail of that mess whomping everyone in the Mid-East and North has been pestering us. Today we had just over 1″ of rain and there is a ‘tail’ on a storm blob just lashing us, should all be gone by early in the AM.
Just about 10 miles to the west the bulk of the rain has been training on the Louisiana side of the Pearl River – some spots have hit 14 or more inches and it ain’t over. The low moved unexpectedly north rather than north-northeast and as the major rain bands formed they were dragged north. We watched the nasty black clouds sailing north to our west and we got a few showers over the course of the day but nothing like they were getting within sight to our west. Once again, spared by the fickle finger of fate.

This AM it was windy and wintery, albeit no snow — just rain. This evening the temp increased about 20 degrees, to a balmy 60 or so and no wind.
Very strange weather. I’ve used the snowblower once so far. Started on the first pull. It is a Toro, after all, so of course it did.
It’s all Trump’s fault. He’s warming the globe. I’m kidding. If he was, he’d be the best US President ever, because life would be more abundant for everyone on Earth. Imagine if we could farm in Northern Canada and Siberia?
But, no. No American election controls the climate, and people who believe that are completely insane. It’s the sun. No American elections control the sunspots, no matter what idiot libs think.
We just went through a whole year with no catastrophic tornadoes. Can we credit Trump for this?
I actually love shoveling and throwing and clearing snow. Ask me in February if I still like it. The Globe is cooling, as we speak. And it has nothing to do with American Politics.
Only SJWs and Lib NPCs believe that. Bad thing happen. Orange man bad. Orange man make bad thing happen.

The area’s like walking on pudding. Last nite I went out during a break to check the outside and I was wearing Crocs. I sank into the grass and goo so far it oozed into the shoes thru the vent holes, a great feeling in December.

Same thing happened to me, but unfortunately I had dress shoes on. We had to go to a funeral out of town yesterday, the monsoon started while we were serving food at the family home. By the time we got to the car (in the field, not the pasture, thank God) mud was abundant.

Used to be that you got shots to protect the kids from anything you might catch. Now with the number of kids whose folks are unfamiliar with 21st century medical care, or 20th for that matter, you have to get your kids shots to protect against them.

Agreed. I don’t remember so much sickness in school growing up. Nor do I remember my teachers being out sick at least once a week and also for extended periods of time.

…as the school admin euphemistically refers to them, ‘transient’ students. Most don’t speak English well enough to compete/learn on an appropriate level and many are still operating on an ‘other world’ level of medical knowledge.

We all spoke English, some 2 and 3 languages. We were all vaccinated and all stayed home if we were sick. Almost like the Twilight Zone.

Before mothers went to work a child who had a fever was usually kept home. Now they are given tylenol and sent to school as if that heals them. I don’t know how many conversations I have had with people who don’t understand that lowering the fever does not make you well, it just makes you feel better.

Yep. We had kids who spoke Lithuanian, Russian, Spanish or Polish but we all spoke English. And those who spoke another language at home with their immigrant parents or grandparents spoke English as if it was their first language.

Oh yeah, I spoke Polish until Kindergarten when my grandparents and the huge, block X-nuns made us stop speaking in anything but English when we were on school grounds.

Same thing happened to my mom only she and her friends were not allowed to speak Lithuanian at school or church even amongst themselves.

One of my best friends was French Canadian, she came to America at the age of 16 and learned English within 6 months. The only thing that constantly gave her problems was she/he him/her and she always counted in French.
Un … Deux… Trois… Quatre… Cinq….Six…Sept …I can always hear her counting as if she is standing next to me.
It is funny what sticks on your mind.

The weatherguessers are saying a good chance of rain all week. Problem is that even if we get no rain it’s going to take a long time for the water to perc downward and it’s not warm enough for much evaporation.

W got 1″ total all day until the tail hit about midnightish – between then and about 3:30 we got that 3″-plus. That lightening put a lotta good nitrogen into the ground though.

Three more inches last night, with a wonderful lightning & thunder storm! From the back porch we can hear the lake overflow roaring, 1/8 mile away. Radar shows most has moved away from here, altho we may get a stray shower later today and they promise more rain over the next 4 days. Our house does not flood from rising water b/c the lake is several feet lower & the overflow directs any rising water away, altho we do not sit at the top of the hill so we could get water from uphill (that would be a rain of biblical proportions!). I chose to tile all the floors so if it ever floods I will just open the doors & wash out with the hose!

From the years women wore silk stockings and legs looked wonderful in them. My mother said there were seamstresses at the local department stores that mended those stockings so well you couldn’t tell they’d ever had a run or a hole…a talent entirely lost to history.
