    Happy Christmas Eve everyone!

    Today’s first painting is ‘The Adoration of the Shepards’ by Guido Reni (1575-1642)

    and for a different style we have ‘On Christmas Night by Bethlehem Town’ by NC Wyeth

    for our last image we have what I would call an edible work of art more than a cake. I wanted to find an image of Santa kneeling, worshipping the baby Jesus, and found this unique cake. What talent put to use showing a truer version of Bishop Saint Nicholas, who over the years has morphed into an almost secular Santa. The original image was a stroke of genius from the book ‘Santa and the Christ Child’ by Nicholas Bakewell https://www.catholicfamilygifts.com/kneeling-santa-story.aspx

    I pray we all have a joyous, peaceful & safe Christmas Eve as we travel around and celebrate with those we hold dear.

      View from the tower…

      Looking at various YouTubes of Notre Dame, I ruled many out as the visitors were surprisingly dressed quite disrespectfully, IMO…shorts, skimpy clothing…. I also discovered that the building is crumbling. Large chunks of the building have come down and so the caretakers have removed other sculptures to prevent injury to those below. The pieces are all stacked up behind fencing.

      Thank you Lucille. My father in Bastogne, his brother, my uncle in Burma in ‘44. I did miss a few Christmas’ myself.

        YW, Colonel. Christmas for our troops can be lonely and dangerous. One of my first cousins was also in Burma with the U.S. Army.

        BTW, just now I went to the “Records of U.S. Army Forces” to check up on my cousin to see when he was in Burma. This notice popped up…

    I have one hour to get to work. Catering four parties for a total of about 400 people, and working my restaurant at the same time, bouncing back and forth between two (maybe three) different restaurants, and gigs.

    Just doing what I love. I guess. I could use a shot. Vodka, lead. I don’t care which.

    I need to take a shower. No time for a nap. Where’s my scrubbie?

    I was introduced to this video a few years ago by none other than Tobymac himself, who hosted it on his Facebook page. Much was made at the time about how some artists would demand that YouTube take their music down, and would have been upset, but Toby shared the video instead.

    I love the song, which I hadn’t heard until I saw the video, and the video itself, the person who made it said it took eighteen hours of work to make. I believe him. But I think it’s really good.

      Honestly…how can people dislike this man!! This post simply makes me care for him more.

      Believing lies and propaganda is anti-Christmas. It will be hard, but this year I’m pledging to work on forgiving our enemies and praying that they repent…

        Thank you, Lucille. It’s all true.

        There’s a Mexican woman at work, a line cook. She hates me, and I don’t know why. I know she hates me because every morning (I live right next to the restaurant) I say “Good morning!” to her, and she looks right past me and doesn’t say a word. I’m basically a ghost to her. “You need bacon for the line?” Even in a professional setting. Silent stare past me. “Where does this pot I just washed belong?” Silent stare past me. Today, when I was doing dishes and prep for two different restaurants and the same time, I got her to say the first two words she’s said to me in six months. “Merry Christmas!”, and I was happy.

        Baby steps. I don’t know what I did to p*** her off, and she won’t tell me, and her hubby calls me “vato loco”, among other Spanish epithets, but I do know that I got her to say “Merry Christmas” this morning, while I was working for two restaurants at the same time, while catering for 450 people.

        Yes, I think they need to go back home, but I don’t actually hate them. First thing I told her, in front of Bossman, this morning: “If you need anything today, tell me. I got it.” She didn’t acknowledge that I even spoke, let alone answer me. A grown child, basically, and acting like a child.

        She gave me a “Merry Christmas!”, because you cannot not answer that.

        All I can do is work to the best of my ability at what I do. I can speak some Spanish, and “Que dios te bendigo, me hermana y me hermano!” is one of my favorite phrases.

        May God bless you, my brother, and my sister.

        Me and Tripod are spending our 12th Christmas together. It’s hard to believe.

          She’s just petulant and stubborn. She’ll come around.

          She’s a line cook, and as she’s giving me encrusted sixth pans and sautee pans, I’m thanking her. Even for the burnt ones. She’s never experienced a dishwasher like me. Until yesterday.

          She’s starting to understand, now.

            We’re all a little bit racist. A little bit loyal to our genetic tribe. All of us. I understand this.

            It’s natural. This woman just realized yesterday that I’m loyal to another tribe, too. My co-workers, and my business. Yesterday she woke up to that fact, because she saw it in action. It was neat to see. I don’t even care if she or her fam are illegal or not. I just care if they give a s*** about the business and the customers. It’s all that matters on a job.

    Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
