      Penny was our first dog. That’s why I put that here. I saw her less than two minutes after she passed. We buried her, in our yard, in her basket (with blankies) I watched all of Laverne and Shirley, too, mind you. Penny was a good dog for a kid. Penny: runt Cocker Spaniel. It was just a dog. But I was still sad. Penny was a friend.

      Then, when your friends that are humans die, right in front of you, it gets even harder to deal with.

      I’m glad we grew up with pets.
