        That first one reminds me a little of my mother. I remember at Thanksgiving one year she saw the new pitcher I had bought that went perfectly with my dishes and said, “Well, that had to cost a pretty penny.” Imagine her shock when I told her I had bought it on sale at Walmart for $4. LOL

          I have fancy water bowls for my dogs. The one in the living room is white porcelain with scalloped edges, it nests in a metal stand that raises it inches above the floor so that the water doesn’t splash so easily on my floor.

          Someone made a not so charitable remark about wasting money on an extravagant water bowl for dogs.

          I simply said, “They are well worth it.”

          Truth about my extravagant dog water bowl. It is a small fondue bowl with a votive light holder in the bottom. I bought it at St. Vincents for 30% off of $1.99 plus an extra 20% off with my St. Vincent card at the register 😎.

          Some of us are just fancy folks, what can I say.

      Glad they found that! One Thanksgiving we ordered a fried turkey from a restaurant where the GGS’s mom worked, and we found the giblets still in the little bag inside the cooked turkey!

          Small, but all ours: just Czar & me, Grandma & the critters. Thought we’d have the GGS, but his mom wanted him with her. I told him the next time he comes we’ll do Thanksgiving again with the big table, my mother’s good dishes & the whole spread. This is the only Thanksgiving he has missed with us in 9 years.

            That reminds me of when my son was about 3 and in preschool, they had what they called a Thanksgiving celebration. It made an impression on my son and he insisted for years after that, that we had “celebration dinners” at times, like Christmas Eve. We would put a tablecloth on the chest we used as a coffee table in front of the couch. Then “he” insisted we use the good dishes and crystal. He liked to set the table and help me put out dip and veggies and other things to eat. He was always careful and enjoyed it so much.

              Since he was 3 I let him set the table (with plenty of verbal cautions & a little hands-on help in the early years). He now tells me what to do next at each step, from pulling the table apart to set in the leaves, to where to place the utensils, to lighting the candles. He’s even got the patter down right: “have to be really careful with the dishes because they were your mother’s.” The amazing thing is that he eats at least a taste of everything at dinner, since he has such a limited palate the rest of the time.

            Sorry about the grandson 😦 . But I’m sure he is looking forward to a big post Thanksgiving day at gram and gramps! 🙂 The great niece made us all placemats and a little card, it was so sweet 🙂 !

    I keep wondering why some are saying that the Posse Comitatus Act does not allow troops on our border to protect the border. That doesn’t make sense to me. Of course, I don’t think that is what it means at all.

    It’s fascinating to observe that the mainstream media has no problem at all with the U.S. military “defending Americans” by killing large quantities of civilians everywhere from Afghanistan to Yemen, or engaging in actual shooting wars in Syria, Libya, Somalia, Iraq, and Niger, but pitches a fainting fit at the idea that it might shoot the only people actually invading the country.

      Well Swalwell thinks he can kill us to take our guns.

      Joe Biggs tries to explain to Swalwell the difference between the USA and Swalwell.

      It seems that the Twitt did not like Bigg’s response.

      Swalweell accused Biggs of wanting to go to war with the USA.

      Biggs told Swallwell that patriots were not going to go to war with the USA but rather American patriots are the USA and we the people are going to go to war with the anti-patriots like Swalwell if they try to stomp on the Second Amendment and take away our God given rights and our guns.

      Oh and Swalwell says he has never threatened US citizens and he offered as proof, a Snopes propaganda article saying that Swalwell never threatened to nuke US citizens for exercising their Second Amendment right.

    WOOF! Five hours of cooking ,1/2 hour of eating and about a day’s worth of clean up. Wouldn’t have had as much trouble had I not had the bright idea of canning 3 jars of pickled garlic and blanching/freezing about 2 pounds of fresh green beans. Gonne re-cover with a big piece of pumpkin pie with vanilla ice cream.
